KAMALIKA PIERIS The main strategy used to suppress Buddhism in the north and east, was to place Hindu kovils within Buddhist ruins. Kovils were set up on Buddhist structures. Hindu kovils have been built over many of the Buddhist shrines, said Medhananda. There was a historical precedent for this. Ama Wanniarachchi reported in 2022 that recent archaeological excavation revealed that the Siva Devala No. 1 at Polonnaruwa, was built on a Buddhist image house that had been demolished. KAMALIKA PIERIS The North and east of Sri Lanka was Sinhala and Buddhist throughout the ancient, medieval and modern period, right up to the start of British rule in 1815.There is plenty of evidence to prove this, if proof is necessary. To start with, the north was an integral part of the Raja Rata of the Anuradhapura kingdom. The Raja Rata was divided into uttara passa (north) dakkhina, (south) pacina, (east) and pajjima (west). Uttara passa consisted of today’s Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi, Mannar, and Jaffna. Each division was ruled by officer appointed by king. ... -Full Story- (LankaWeb - 09/02/24)

There are strong reasons to believe that U.S. actions led to the removal from power of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan in April 2022, followed by his arrest on trumped-up charges of corruption and espionage, and sentencing this week to 10 years imprisonment on the espionage charge. They die due to accidents of birth, the misfortune of being born in the wrong place — Cambodia or Gaza, Afghanistan or Ukraine — at the wrong time. They die due to happenstance, choosing to shelter indoors when they should have taken cover outside or because they ventured out into a hell-storm of destruction when they should have stayed put. They die in the most gruesome ways — shot in the street, obliterated by artillery, eviscerated by air strikes. Their bodies are... -Full Story- (LankaWeb - 01/02/24)
