Don’t let there be a hole in the world tomorrow. Eagles  Suicide attack is an ancient practice with a modern history. The Mahabharata an ancient epic describes suicide warfare. Islamic Order of Assassins (hashashin) during the early Crusader times was well-known examples. The battle was not between Rajapaksa and Fonseka, but between Sri Lanka and the US. On May 18, 2009, Sri Lanka won a historic proxy war on the banks of the Nanthikadal lagoon, defeating the scourge of terrorism [LTTE] and the threat of neocolonialism. Election day was crucial – Sri Lankans had to defeat the neocolonialist if they were to protect their victory at Nanthikadal. With that in mind, it’s no wonder that Sri Lankan Ambassador Tamara Kunanayakam (Cuba and Venezuela) urged Sri Lankans to study Latin... -Full Story- (english.pravda.ru - 30/07/10)

Ben Silva Attention of Mr Ban Ki Moon Secretary General, UN War crimes committed by USA and UK Ben Silva  Wikileaks have clearly indicated the possibility of war crimes committed by USA and UK. It is now recognized and well known that the invasion of Iraq was illegal and was carried out under false pretexts. Over a mullion civilians have been killed unlawfully and illegally in Iraq. Surely, the priority should be an investigation of the illegal war rather than the war that defeated the terrorists who killed thousands and threatened the sovereignty of Sri Lanka. Ranjit Wickremeratne Every Sri Lankan should keep remembering the day we ushered peace in our beloved homeland. It was a day of celebrations for all of us but not for those heros who sacrificed their lives to save our land. Our own dirty political leaders in the past played with our innocent lives for thirty long years and allowed those barbaric terrorists to go on with their killing spree and take over more than half of our country inch by inch to have their own dreamland. Ajit Randeniya It is for very good reasons that Robert Blake who ‘underachieved’ in terms of neocon expectations in Sri Lanka was quickly appointed Assistant Secretary in the US State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs: the region involving Afghanistan and Central Asia that is crucial to the illegal war in Afghanistan needed a trusted neocon operator and there aren’t many left these days at the State Department. They found their man in Robert Blake.  The major handicap for the neocon operations in Afghanistan is the problem of a safe route for supplies to the troops pillaging... -Full Story- (LankaWeb - 29/07/10)

By Garvin Karunaratne, Ph.D. Patriotism is something that is abounding in the United States of America. The people stand united and with one force are tacking the problems they face. In California where we landed in May, the people were supportive of the Government with one voice. Touring through the rural hinterland of Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Mississipi, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, finally arriving at California it is clear that the people are facing the recession with one voice. They are not worried about who was responsible; instead they are thinking of what can be done.  The USA... -Full Story- (LankaWeb - 26/07/10)

H. L. D. Mahindapala UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon, was warned earlier by Sri Lanka that any interference by foreign agents will exacerbate the delicate political atmosphere prevailing in the immediate and sensitive aftermath of the post-Vadukoddai War. When he met President Mahinda Rajapakse soon after the War ended in May 2009 it was agreed in a Joint Statement (issued on May 23, 2009) that the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) will set up a mechanism to look into what went wrong and how to remedy any past mistakes.  As stated by Ban in his latest statement the “objectives (of... -Full Story- (LankaWeb - 10/07/10)
Dr Bandula Kothalawala London N7 Scarcely a day passes without the great and the good exhorting the recalcitrant Sri Lankans to accept the UN Panel and co-operate with it. Rarely has a small nation been showered with so much unsolicited gratuitous advice by so many - perhaps a few in their naivety, but most in an impudent display of hypocrisy and arrogance. Curiously, some including governments whose ambassadors[1], some time ago, would not see “a bit of a difference, even if 10 floors out of the 38 floors of the UN building in New York were lostâ€ÂÂÂ, seemed to... -Full Story- (LankaWeb - 10/07/10)
By Charles.S.Perera Now we know who were behind Ban Ki Moons ‘ move against Sri Lanka to appoint a three-man Panel to advise him whether there had been violation of human rights by the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka in the last phase of its military operations against the terrorists. Germany, UK, France, USA, Italy, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Romania, Norway and EU are obviously the prime movers of the idea of a Panel to Ban Ki Moon. These same countries voted against the resolution submitted by Sri Lanka at the Human Rights Council in Geneva on the 27 May,... -Full Story- (LankaWeb - 10/07/10)
Asoka Perera, PhD Toronto Canada The appointment of three member UN panel by Secretary General of United Nations instantly reminded me the similar panel appointed by former Secretary General Kofi Anan to investigate the possession of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq by UN security council just after the 9/11 incident in USA. As a measure of countering global terrorism, UN Security Council was supported by member states to carry out the mission led by US and UK. Panel returned after fact finding mission in Iraq empty handed, but the hidden agenda of US and UK in demolishing Iraq... -Full Story- (LankaWeb - 10/07/10)

By John R. Bolton United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is close to making an enormously significant misjudgment about his role and authority. Mr. Ban has repeatedly called for an "international" inquiry into the May 31 clash with Israeli commandos, provoked by supporters of Hamas on a Turkish-flagged ship off the Gaza Strip, resulting in nine killed and dozens wounded. According to the media, he is seriously considering launching such an inquiry by his own personal decision. For Mr. Ban to act without express U.N. Security Council authorization, however, would far exceed his legitimate authority. It would create a troubling... -Full Story- (washingtontimes.com - 10/07/10)

H. L. D. Mahindapala The UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, and Sri Lanka have locked horns and are fighting it out in the diplomatic, international and national arenas. Right now Sri Lanka has a sizeable battle on its hands in the international arena. Though it has formidable friends in Russian, China, Iran and the majority of the Non-Aligned Movement (India, curiously, has not committed itself openly like Russia or China) Europe and USA are playing an unfriendly role that is pushing Sri Lanka further away from the West to the East.
