The True Liberation Of Sri
Lanka From Her Enemies Cannot Leave A Single Stone Unturned !
30th June 2008
In the face of the resounding victories by the Armed Forces the recent
news that a former eminent military leader and major general of the
armed forces who was retired from the forces and sent out on a diplomatic
mission overseas to prevent his incarceration for some of his errors
of omission, done through the magnanimity of the Administration he
once served is now back in Sri Lanka according to reliable sources
and planning skullduggery.
While one would expect this individual's return to be a cause for
much expectations towards how he could best serve his country as a
force against the evils of LTTE terror, that does not seem to be the
inspiration for his return to Sri Lanka as he is said to be here with
his own mission to undermine the armed forces under their present
leadership as well as impede the progress of the Rajapaksha Administration
which leaves open the speculation about what on earth is going on
in the mindset of such individuals.
To make matters worse relative to what this individual seems to be
planning as his agenda in the aftermath of his return to Sri Lanka
he is purported to have joined camps with the inglorious opposition
leader of the UNP having his own problems about acceptance within
the party he represents and said to be contesting the post of Chief
Minister of the North Central Province with the blessings of the UNP,
something which would be quite disastrous not only for that region
but perhaps for all of Sri Lanka given the open cognizance that the
UNP could well be dubbed LTTE friendly towards acheiving their own
agendas beyond speculation!
While it is no secret that this individual despite his brilliant military
record once crossed swords with the Sri Lankan hierarchy of the SLFP
whilst having many sympathisers as well as followers who recognized
his leadership qualities and military prowess there is every reason
to believe that it was his alliance with the UNP which led to his
falling from grace of his top brass military status and what seems
to be prompting the rhetoric he has been spewing to the media indicative
of an about turn of his sentiments and direction which once sought
to eliminate the LTTE completely and did a darnsight near perfect
job of it until he was ousted from his posting. Suddenly his rhetoric
is said to have changed in favour of underminig the relentless push
of the Armed Forces making many wonder what his true objectives and
motivations might be?
Sadly it appears to be bitterness and a quest for revenge as the motivation
for his sudden criticism of the armed forces, the administration and
even his contestations of the appointment of Tamil leader Pillayan
relative to his integrity who was recently appointed as a Government
representative in his local area after winning the local elections
handsomely and is making great inroads towrds the resolution of many
previously neglected issues in a most admirable manner and a boon
to the progress of the present Administration.
The presence and continued tolerance of such individuals hell bent
to be a spoke in the wheels of national progress and posterity could
be a dangerous prospect towards the well being of Sri Lanka where
his interference based upon personal anger which is what his actions
are tantamount to could prove to be very detrimental to the Armed
Forces direction and the huge successes being acheived towards the
elimination of the terrorist menace!
In the words of a recent dispatch, everything this person now represents
is indicative of a national traitor where as quoted "His recent
actions and tone of voice suggests he has clearly turned against the
very same army he once led, for petty political gains. Ironically his
new leader, Ranil Wickremasighe, called the Nation's Defence Secretary
a traitor recently to divert attention from the true traitor who is
now hiding in the UNP camp. In fact he is a double traitor going by
the standard definitions of the word! One meaning is a person who betrays
a cause.
This person has betrayed the noble cause of the army by suddenly turning
against the war. He proclaims that he is now against the war for no
apparent reason. Is the war any different from the war that was; have
the parties to the war changed? No! it is the former soldier that has
changed camps. The second definition of traitor refers to a person who
commits treason by betraying his country. If this individual doesnt
fall into this category, no one will. His treason was rewarded by none
other than the Ministry of Defence when it barred him and Jayavi Fernando,
another retired traitor, from entering military installations."
end quote and of such is the shocking profile of a once revered military
leader who seems to have taken a psychotic turn in the opposite direction
to where he was once headed and great caution needing to be exercised
lest he circumvents the wheels of progress of the Armed Forces which
could eventually translate to that of the entire nation.
In the present climate of Sri Lanka where her Defence Forces are decimating
the LTTE terrorists in a multi faceted assault
the terrorists have lost all their professed entitlemets to power where
Jaffna and the East are no longer under any LTTE influence worth mentioning
and their capacity to maintain their cadres has been hard hit by the
advances of the Armed Forces. Under the present leaders and the will
of their commander in chief the LTTE have nowhere to run and their back
as a terrorist organization is virtually broken so who is this turncoat
former General to interfere into the progress of the Armed forces merely
to serve what appears to be his personal agenda?
It seems apropriate to end by quoting yet another recent dispatch which
suggests that "All signs indicate that this traitor is beyond redemption.
Legal action is needed to punish him and his high handed group of embittered
opposition faction cronies to stop them from further damaging the reputation
of the armed forces, inciting divisions within the army, amassing other
traitors for the campaign, creeping into security detachments, providing
moral and ethical support for the LTTE, ridiculing military strategy
and officers and engaging in other acts of treason. Remedies in Chapter
Six of the Constitution, especially in Article 157A must be relied upon
to punish these traitors. Further, provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism
Act of 1979 offers an array of remedies that may be used in conjunction
with other legal remedies. Its no coincidence that this General
is not the only traitor inthe party he has embraced on his return to
Sri Lanka. There are a few other prominent names amongst a list of MPs
who are reputed to be openly and actively harbouring the LTTE terrorists
and also need to be taken to task for their indiscretions which merely
empasizes the degree to which opportunism is rampant within Sri Lanka
where anything sometimes goes for a buck!
None of these should however deter the relentless march of the Armed
Forces towards eliminating the LTTE terrorist and should be considered
occupational hazards which need to be effectively dealt with towards
the true liberation of Sri Lanka from what imperils it including former
Major Generals who need to be severely dealt with if necessary!
