Why The Apathy Of Western Interference Sometimes Hinders Sri Lanka's Progress And Panders To Terrorism!

It seems curious if not mind boggling as to why certain politicians of Western Countries oftentimes from a fairly significant political perch still continue to discredit Sri Lanka's effort to eliminate the scourge of terrorism as a national priority where the simple equation veritably points to the good versus the bad relative to the officialdom of Sovereign Democratic Sri Lanka and the contentious unacceptability of the Tamil Tiger terrorists whose only right as most of the rational world sees it is to be put down despite the bickerings of a blinkered and prejudiced few whose irrational searches for an inapplicable panacea sometimes digress from the sublime to the ridiculous!

Of such seems to be the likes of a certain Californian Congressman by the name of Brad Sherman who last week tabled in the US Congress the Resolution 1338, which calls for an International Human Rights monitoring mission to help maintain law and order in Sri Lanka, while also making other ludicrous demands which include an end to the ongoing military campaign against the LTTE and the continuation of a never ending griping about Human Rights violations by the GOSL almost on cue at a time when the Tamil Tigers appear to be either cornered or on the run, with their back as a terror outfit effectively broken and functionalities depleted to the point of zero capability judging by the latest statistics from the Armed Forces as well as other credible observers who attest to the realities involved!

While these attempts by foreigners are isolated campaigns to distract the efforts of the Sri Lankan Authorities perhaps on the instigation of the Tamil Diaspora at large who for a greater part support their 'terrorist champions' they do take on the guise of a small band of motley terrorist collaboratives whose effectiveness may not necessarily make much sense to the more discerning but does from time to time invite the curiosities of those who do not really know what goes on in Sri Lanka albeit in the greater scheme of things world leaders who matter have pledged their support towards Sri Lanka to eliminate the unrelenting, defiant and most importantly nation destructive LTTE terrorists where no isolated, cockamanie resolutions should be permitted to threaten the efforts of the Sri Lankan Armed Forces and their drive to eliminate the Tamil Tiger terrorists.Especially at this juncture!!

The US Resolution and the objectives of those who sponsor it does tend to raise certain relevant questions in the minds of those who follow international affairs with interest as quoted recently in a media report highlighting this resolution citing the true situation within Sri Lanka as the attempt of a long established democracy to put an end to a meaningless campaign of terror and Nation destruction being inflicted on it by a psychopath while obstacles seem to be heaved in its path indiscriminately to confound this effort and being initiated by certain representatives of the world's most powerful country itself engaged in the daily murder of civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan in the name of a 'war on terrorism' whose concerns about International Peace Keeping Units and their myopically viewed " advantageous presence ' in Sri Lanka which seems more like a delusion of righteousness for all the wrong reasons by comparison with the felt need for Sri Lanka to deal effectively with her terrorist problem with no outside interference if support towards the cause cannot be extended as a logical expectation by Sri Lanka's anti terrorist drive which currently seems to be sniffing victory!

While many contentious theories surface about the real reason for this kind of lobbying by this particular US congressman and others of similar motivation whose past since election in 1997, is said to be interesting it also portrays a shameful double standard! He wants Iran penalised, he is against North Korea, he beleives the guilty party in the Middle East are the Palestinians, fair enough but to appear as someone with pro LTTE bias and to be fighting for the rights of the 'innocent' LTTE army to quote his own words seems to be pathetically out of alignment with the realities of what global terrorism represents to the world in the form of the LTTE who although moribund in their projected future thanks to the present drive of the Sri Lankan Armed Forces realistically do not need to be revitalised or revamped towards regrouping or be recussitated through any lopsided dogma of an oddly misguided congressman regardless of his credentials as an American who seems to be going against the grain of the mainstream American Status Quo which has pledged ite fullest support towards Sri Lanka's war against terrorism which makes his a voice in the wilderness of his own misguided perceptions.

Case in point !relative to this particular attempt to pre-empt Sri Lanka's effort to wipe out the Tamil Tiger terrorists which this Congressman's motion seems to be tantamount to needs to be viewed with contempt where the world needs to be made more aware of the priorities for intervention within the framework of International Law if permissible towards restitution being the desperate needs of nations such as Burma, Zimbabwe, Palestine, Dafur and much more where bringing to justice those who cause endless suffering and pain while holding the reins of leadership and virtually getaway with murder and mayhem seems much more feasible.

If representatives of the US Congress ( or any other Superpower for that matter) need something to target as a legitimate means to ease human suffering en masse they only need to look around perceptively rather than blink and bicker over unrealistic portrayals by a conniving few who often distort realities to suit their own agendas and needing more than mere peacekeepers to set right the damage they cause through false instigations based upon lies and innuendo as often is the case with Sri Lanka targetted by such types.

Ironically there seems to be more damage done to many defenceless nations of the world as a result of the interference of the Superpowers who take it upon themselves to be the lawmakers of the world with petty or non existent mandates based purely upon their brute force and assumed legalities and in doing so upset the equilibriums relative to nations whose very transformations from serenity to misery are a direct result of unsolicited interference and often the wrong choices of targets by the boys with the big guns!
