Shocking Independent Proof of Rising Islamic Extremism in Sri Lanka

It is no secret to anyone with eyes and ears that Islamic extremism is spreading in the island of Sri Lanka like wildfire. Over the past 10 years the number of mosques and other Islamic religious places has more than doubled. When Islamic extremists forced ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”HalalƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ on the entire population, the nation succumbed to it helplessly. Only 9.2% of Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s population is Muslims and the Malay population just about 1%. In 2009 a violent mosque attack in Beruwala occurred. It is a stark reminder of the fate that awaits those who donƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t comply with Islamic fundamentalism in this island. These are classic cases of extremism taking an upper hand over a civilised democratic society. This pattern is all too common in other countries.
The following are independent accounts of the growing Islamic extremist threat from various sources. Although new to the external espionage agencies concerned, this information hardly surprises any Sri Lankan. It is everybodyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s knowledge. For instance the information in the US Embassy cable is all too well known to almost all Sri Lankans, paragraph to paragraph. Proof of this information and the probability of specifics will also be analysed here.
A word of caution is needed in any similar analysis. Since it deals with the most widespread terrorist operation in the world, extreme care must be taken not to arouse, instigate or indirectly support these violent movements. A carefully drawn out mostly peaceful strategy is needed to counter this threat. Military action must be well coordinated at a global and regional scale.
What the US EmbassyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Unearthed

However, it indicates a shocking development or a number of them. The US Embassy has been and possibly still is conducting espionage operations in Sri Lanka on many matters using its ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-contactsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ and ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-sourcesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚. On this matter USA and Sri Lankan interests match. There are many other instances where divergent interests are at play. Another shocking indication is that the Islamic threat has reached such a highpoint in Sri Lanka that USA dedicated considerable amount of resources to identify and tackle it.
Who Feels the Threat First?
First receptors of the rise of Islamic extremist violence are the moderate Muslims. They become the first victims of extremists. This can be seen in Sri Lanka very well in political, economic, cultural, religious and security aspects. In 1987, MuslimsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ political conduct changed for the worse. In the lines of Tamil mono-ethnic and racist political parties, a group of Muslims funded by wealthy Middle Eastern Wahabis, formed in to SLMC. Their excuse was LTTE violence against Muslims in the north and the east. However, it is not true. By 1987, the LTTE honeymoon with Palestinian terrorists was not over. LTTE fell out with Muslims only in 1990 Black August when all Muslims were chased out of Jaffna and attacks were launched against Muslims in the East. Another development was taking place in the east during this time. Islamic extremist terrorists were pumping millions if not billions of dollars to the East. Cases in point are at least two whole new Muslim only villages by the names Saddam Hussein Town and Muammar Gadhafi Town constructed with the money of these two notorious terrorists. Therefore the excuse for the formation of the SLMC is not valid. Their real intention is to expand Islamic fundamentalism.
Economically, moderate Muslims have become mere vagrants compared to the billions radicals have at their disposal. Two radical Muslim groups build mosques in competition while moderate Muslims have no other option than join them. While moderate Muslims for hundreds of years thrived in Sri Lanka without any Sharia law, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”halalƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ foods and loudspeakers, radicals have stumped them calling them betrayals of the original teaching. Since resistance is highly dangerous (as can be seen from the Beruwala attack) and considered treacherous, moderates have now joined the radicals. This explains the motivation of the Muslim source of information to the US embassy.
After the ceasefire agreement (CFA) with the LTTE, Muslims were thrown into the hands of Tamil brutality. It is true Tamil nationalists killed and displaced Muslims from 2002 to 2009. It is also true Muslims organised into ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”JihadƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ groups during this time. But the two developments had nothing to do with each other. There is not a single instance of any Islamic group attacking the LTTE or resisting any LTTE move. The real reason is connected to the global war on terror launched in 2001. Islamic terrorists actively looked for safe havens when the war started. Sri Lanka was at war till 2001 but following the ceasefire agreement (CFA) with the LTTE relative peace returned. It was a perfect oasis for Islamic radicals in the midst of a global war on them. They were safe in peaceful Sri Lanka where people were disgruntled of war by then.

The Passport Operation for Terror Activities
There is enough reason to believe information on this. It is a well-known criminal act done in the country by both Tamil and Muslim terrorists. However, the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-sourceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ revealed another interesting fact. Muslims are given false passports with Sinhalese names. Following 9/11, persons with Muslims names were thoroughly checked at international ports and airports around the world. By changing their names, they could easily pass through. A similar trick was used by 9/11 attackers and many other terrorists around the world. The fact that the false passport operation was carried by a former Muslim ministerƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s son does not surprise anyone especially in the light of another revelation – (C/NF) ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-the Source also identified Muslim Minister Rauf Hakeem as a supporter of this [Jihad] campƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.
Radical Muslim Students in Universities
Although the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-sourceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ claims he knows close to one hundred radical Muslims students at the Jayawardanapura University, the number cannot be true given the total number of Muslim students in that university. However, this number is well within the possible number of radicals in all the universities, especially in the Eastern and South Eastern Universities. It is very likely they are actually developing chemical agents and other weaponry using the knowledge and resources gained at the universities. However, at that time it was unlikely they were attempting to develop anthrax. Interestingly, it was the SLMC when it was a partner of the PA government (1994-2001) that built the South Eastern University for Muslims. Many Middle Eastern Islamic groups financially assisted its construction. What is more interesting is the repetition of the events and connections of the actors. After 10 years later, same SLMC actors are involved in wrongfully and dramatically increasing the number and percentage of Muslim students at the Sri Lanka Law College in an attempt to impose Sharia Law in the long run. This corroboratory evidence support what Mohamed Ilyars Mohamed HUNU revealed 10 years ago.
In addition, a large number of Islamic education centres, government schools and international schools have come up in the last decade. Islamic fundamentalists have many openings for the propagation of radical Islam and knowledge on ancient Arabic warfare and weaponry through these. Those who perform well are given scholarships to study advanced techniques of indoctrination and violence in Saudi Arabia.
There is a reason why most Muslim schools in outskirts of major towns have their medium of instruction in Tamil. This way the Sinhala majority will not be able to understand them. It is also essential for growing connections they have with former Tamil terrorists in South India. A Tamil speaking Muslim was arrested with plans to attack the Kudankulam nuclear power plant in South India. He was attempting to escape to Colombo where the Indian RAW thinks the ISI South Asian coordination unit is. However, there is nothing to prove these Indian allegations.
A 2002 Bali style terror attack on westerners who bring bulk of the tourist revenue can destroy the burgeoning tourism industry.
Jihad Camp Supported by Sections of Police and SLMC Leader?
The ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-sourceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ mentioned Jihad operations are supported by some Muslim police officers and the SLMC leader. He has also claimed their main source of weapons at that time was the police. This claim is true. Following Black August attacks by Tamil terrorists in 1990, under the instructions of the then government, the police provided Muslims in the east with assault rifles. More than 250 were provided in 1990 but when they were requested to be handed over by Minister Hisbullah in 2010, only a mere 20 were handed over. Others still remain at large.
Rauf HakimƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s involvement in anti-national activities and Islamic fundamentalism is very well known. He has a history of supporting Islamic extremism and terrorism. He was sacked from his minister post in 2001 after he declared two separate Islamic states within Sri Lanka.

During the same year he publicly blamed the Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP) unit for plotting to eliminate Tamil terrorist leaders. After a Tamil terror attack that killed a dozen Muslims in the east in 2007, Hakim instigated Muslims to attack Special Task Force camps and convoys in the east. He played a crucial role in creating a rift between the former army commander Fonseka and the government in an attempt to dilute the May 2009 military victory. In 2012 he called Buddhist monks ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-terroristsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚. He was forced to apologise or lose his ministry and he obviously chose the former. He manipulated the government to provide various unfair concessions to Muslims at the expense of others.
Disturbing Population Growth Rate of Muslims
The rate of population growth of Muslims has been astronomical from 1946 to 2012. It has disturbed the peaceful ethnic balance. At the time of independence, Muslim population percentage was just 5.1% which has almost doubled in 2012 to 9.2%. Undoubtedly this is the largest growth in population of any ethnicity. Since 1981 to 2012, Muslim population shows astronomical growth from 7% to 9.2% – the largest percentage increase.

Measures must be taken to curtail this astronomical Muslim population growth to maintain peace and the harmonious ethnic balance. With indoctrination in full swing, a larger group of radicals pose a graver national security threat.
(Since identifying the emergence of radical Islam in eastern Sri Lanka and Colombo, USAID has redoubled its projects and microfinance in the east in an attempt to quell it. However, it is unlikely to achieve anything as it is pittance compared to the billions coming from the Middle East accompanied with radical teachings.)

SUBJECT: WALK-IN DESCRIBES MUSLIM EXTREMIST ACTIVITIES IN SRI LANKA
Classified By: RSO Alex Moore – Exempt from Declassification.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Reason: 1.6 (X1)
1. (C/NF) Summary – On 10/14/03 and again on 10/15/03, RSO interviewed an unknown walk-in Source of undetermined reliability who claimed to have information on several aspects of Muslim radicalism in Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The information included the name of a passport vendor in Colombo who provides false passports to Muslim terrorists, some of whom are allegedly now in the U.S., information on a group of radical Muslim students at a local university in Colombo, information on Muslim police connections to Muslim terrorist groups in the Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka, and information on a Muslim terrorist training camp in the Eastern Provinces. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ End Summary.
2. (C/NF) On 10/14/2003, an unknown Source phoned Embassy Colombo and spoke with the RSO regarding radical Muslim activities in Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ An appointment was made for the Source to come to the North Gate of the Embassy to be interviewed at 1630 hours.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Source came at the appointed time and identified himself as Mohamed Ilyars Mohamed HUNU (father’s name NOONU), DPOB 12/15/1972 – Sri Lanka, National Identity Number 723501008V, SL PPT# L0130138.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Source provided two phone numbers: 034-2277851 and 94-1-222-2787. Source claimed to be a police bodyguard for the Sri Lankan Minister of State for Housing in the Eastern Provinces 1991-94, but was currently unemployed and a father of three children.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He also produced documentation as a former worker in private security in the U.A.E.
3. (C/NF) Source indicated that he had information on operations and activities of radical Muslims in Sri Lanka, to include the name of a passport vendor in Colombo who provides false passports to terrorists, the existence of a group of radical Muslim students at a local university, links between Muslim Police and extremist Muslim groups in the Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka, and information on the existence of a Muslim terrorist training camp in the Eastern Provinces.
4. (C/NF) RSO pressed the Source for details on the passport vendor in Colombo, and the Source advised that the name of the vendor was Ilyars Hajy Faleel HAJY.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ HAJY was the son of a former Muslim Minister in the government and, in addition to the fraudulent passport operation, is a gem dealer. Source claimed that HAJY takes Sri Lankan passports with Muslim names and changes them to Sinhalese names.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Source also alleged that HAJY has forged passports for terrorists from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, some of whom are already in the U.S.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Source could not provide additional details on this last claim, but Source offered to provide a sample of HAJY’s forgeries the following day.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ (On 10/15/03, Source returned to the Embassy and provided a second passport #M1091886 containing his photo in the name of Mohamed Imtiyaz Mohamed FULAIL, with a DOB 03/02/1973.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He said the passport cost him 30,000 Rupees or $300.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Source also produced a second National Identity Card #730624786V using that name. Both appeared authentic. He also produced a copy of a visa to the U.A.E. in the name Mohamed Fulail Mohamed.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In addition, Source provided an address for the document vendor as an apartment building owned by his father named the SATHOSA BUILDING on Galle Road near a 3-Star gas station.)
5.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ (C/NF) Source then stated that he knew of a group of about 100 radical Muslim students at Jayawardana Pura University in Colombo who were associated with the extremist group “Jihad.”ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ After some thought, he identified one member of the group as Mohamed Ansar MINSAR, whose father may be Mohamed Farook FAHIM or Fahim FAROOK.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Source provided cell phone numbers for MINSAR as 0777-405-805 and 0777-405-186. Source claimed this “Jihad” group is connected to terrorist training operations in the Eastern Provinces, and some of the students have been under contract with the “Jihad” leadership to develop anthrax.
6.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ (C/NF) Finally, Source indicated that Muslims, increasingly frustrated at armed attacks by the LTTE in the East, have formed a militant training camp near Batticaloa for the purpose of defending against the LTTE and to strike against Western interests, including the U.S.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Source stated that Iraqis were in the camp, which is supported partially by Sri Lankan Muslims working in Kuwait and sending money to “Jihad.”ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The camp gets some of its weapons from supportive Muslim police in the region.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Source provided the name of one of the Police Chiefs as “Majeed.”ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Source also identified Muslim Minister Rauf Hakeem as a supporter of this camp.
7.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ (C/NF) When asked why he was providing this information, Source indicated he was unemployed and had a family to support.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Source offered to “work” for the embassy and suggested he be allowed to travel to the East to get more details on the camp.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ RSO replied that the details of his information would be checked and the Embassy would contact him if further information was needed.
8.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ (C/NF) RSO action/comment:ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ RSO will attempt to use local contacts to verify information regarding the passport vendor and the existence of a “Jihad” group of students at the university.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Information regarding terrorist training in the East will be forwarded to local contacts for further investigation.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Results will be forwarded as received.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ This is the second walk-in in two weeks with information regarding extremist Muslim activity in Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ We will continue to monitor increasing Muslim frustration with LTTE attacks against Muslims in the East as one possible indicator of growing radicalism on the part of Muslims in Sri Lanka.

Pass the laws to do little things.
1. Gonibilla dress should not be permitted at all times, inside and outside the houses, for security reasons.
2. No more mosques and demolish all non-approved ones.
3. All teachers of moderate Islam should be registered ( not with Islamic council of Saudi but with the Government of Sri lanka). Areest all those preaching unregistered and send to Saudi for beheading or keeping.
4. Teach core Buddhist teaching in all schools and without a pass in Buddhism they go nowhere.
5. No rooms of worship in building.
6. No worshipping or preaching of Islam in public.
7. Strictly no cut-off of genitals
8. No Hallal way of killing of animals.
9. All the violent words in both Quran and Bible should be amended to peaceful words if those useless books to be used in Sri lanka.

I am ready to die for my country rather than giving in to Muslim fanatics. See around the world what Muslim murderers do killing innocents of their own and destroying their own worship places. We cannot afford to have another war or allow extremists to raise their heads whether it’s Muslims or Tamils. We Sinhalese must be alert and rally unitedly to eradicate this menace now without any delay.
Wake up Sinhalese without day dreaming before these maniacs starts something. Buddhist clergy must take the lead like olden days. Remove the Justice Minister Mr.President.Give it to a true Sinhala son of our own. What this guy knows about Justice.He is an extremist as per Moses and the news we are getting. R E M O V E before it’s too late. He did so many things against our country in the past. We should not forget that. So why give a Ministrial post or anything for these kind of traitors to the Motherland. So many good moderate Muslims are there who loves our Motherland as Sri Lanka but not these extremists and traitors like Hakeem the frog.

How did this sudden and sharp increase of Muslim & even Tamil numbers happen ?
Earlier, when the ltte “took over” the N&E for some 30 yrs., ILLEGAL MIGRANTS came in freely into Sri Lanka.
PETITION the Government (via the Speaker) to identify and deport all Illegal Migrants. This is a massive problem and requires GoSL & the Jnt. Opposition to act together.

The problem with Sinhalese majority is that we are too divided by religion, caste,up country low country, Sinhala or English educated or rich and poor. If any group of people are a threat and are hostile we do not have to resort to violence. We need to stand as one. We can effect them economically because they have to to depend on the majority for their in come and growth. In addition we need to be prepared if there is an armed threat.
Also, just because you can get a higher price stop disposing of property. Like the Muslim banks, that give interest free loans to their own and rescue businesses we need to have our own banks to help the Sinhalese businesses.
United we will thrive, divided we fall.
We also need a central organization to plan our strategy and implement it .

Peace loving Sri Lankans should be thankful to Kumar Moses and Nalliah Thayabharan for providing facts (not opinions) on the matter. As with any violent movement, there are signs of impending danger well ahead in time. In the case of the JVP, there were many signs by the 1960s. They led to the capture of the JVP leader but the government discounted the possibility of an open attack which took place in April 1970. Once again in 1987-89 for a repeat blunder by JRJ in releasing the JVP leader assuming the worst was over. Tamil terrorist groups also had their share of signs in 1957 Sinhala letters defacing campaign, 1948 Independence Day Hartal, violence in 1958, isolated explosions, bank roberries, assasinations, etc. Then governments discounted these signs and paid a heavy price.
All successive governments ignored emerging signs of three future violent upheavels and chances are this time too, the government will brush these aside.
Sri Lanka needs a National Security Agency that is independent of politics, ethnicity and religious affiliations with sufficient power of direction.

Lingkamandi, you forgot to mention the Yakka community who I suspect are the (unawoken) majority. We have no Hindu connection. To us, Hindu casteism is oppression. We are free Lankans. You would do well to show tolerance to all communities in Lanka. Just as the Vijayan Sinhalese are originally Indians, so are the Tamils. So Sinhalese are your fellow Iindians. You should understand each other and live in peace like in mother India, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Jana Mana Gana Wana whatever. Please follow the example of our Yakka community and show tolerance to all Lankans.

We think the JVP was mainly a symptom of protest against some 500 yrs of Colonial rule. it was also the ‘political fashion’ of those times to have Revolutions as per our giant neighbors (not India). It was also the time of the Cold War (1945 – 1991).
It is high time we all laid to rest the JVP actions. The JVP was composed of rural youth who were almost all deprived and forsaken Sinhela/Buddhists. The recent unearthing of mass graves from the late 1980s era has raised various fears.
I, for one, in my old age, weep silently with regret for those thousands of Sinhela youth who died in the JVP wars, and I sincerely apologise to those who lost their loved ones. We ought to have closure to those sad events of the past. We ought to move forward as one Nation now, forgiven and loved as ordinary human beings, here on earth for a very brief period. Let us all realise that One Truth and also be comforted in the knowledge of our true Selves The Buddha said ‘Truth is WITHIN You’ ; Jesus Christ said “The Kingdom of Heaven is WITHIN You” ; Islam means Peace (WITHIN You).
Let us try to do just ONE ACT OF KINDNESS PER DAY, toward another person, and make an epidemic of it for a lasting peaceful Sri Lanka.

Lingkumandhi, the Buddha may have been born a Hindu but he eschewed the negative aspects of Buddhism such as Brahminism, animal sacrifice etc. He also preached to all peoples as such, Buddhism is not just for Sinhalas but Tamils, Muslims, Christians etc. Our first nation Yakka-Naga community accepted the Buddha when he visited us and later on, all who settled in the island but what happened to us? When the Sinhal-Indian Vijay deceived our Queen Kuweni, he went to Madurai in India to find a bride. Maybe a dowry was given? Dowry from woman to man is a traditional Indian cultural practice because the woman is regarded as subservient, unemployable and must stay in the kitchen. This is not Yakka-Naga culture. Then Vijay and the visitors who we welcomed destroyed our indigenous civilisation. Would the Buddha have approved of this conduct? I look forward to the views of our Indian-Buddhists on this forum. Krishtee (Christie)? Farhanzadi (Fran Diaz)? Any views on this era of history? It may take thousands of years for Sinhal-Indians as well as Tamil-Indians to shed their Indian cultural practices and identity and become truly Lankan. We Yakkas are still waiting for Tamil-Indians and Sinhal-Indians to shed their petty infighting and both accept a Lankan [still waiting for the original name to be rediscovered] identity. We need to set up an institute to study ancient immigration routes and patterns of indigenous culture, spiritual practices and language throughout the region, including Adivasis, Burma, Andaman Islands, Tibet, Borneo, Australia, PNG, Fiji etc and beyond.

All people of this world are of mixed genetic material. There are no ‘pure people’. It would be true to say that all people are striving to be happy and healthy, but some get it all wrong.
As for Gauthama Buddha, he was born to a Hindu family in North India, and was of royal descent. But, he was dissatisfied with the existing system of thinking on life, and set out on his own to discover the Truth about Life, and he succeeded. The simplicity and beauty of the core teachings of Gauthama Buddha bear testimony to this fact. He rejected the existing Caste System attached to the Hindu religion. He said “by ones actions is one high born or low born”. He said to test his teachings before accepting them. To me, this is a wonderful statement. By his teachings, the true Teacher is known. By his Teachings, the Buddha is known. Therefore, all the Buddhas (there are many, before and will be after Gauthama Buddha, the next being the Maithreeya Buddha), belong to the whole world, as their teachings are Universal.
Lanka inhabitants of ancient times accepted Buddhism gladly. The Teachings have given us wonderful guiding principles for life. But Lanka is a small place and cannot accommodate all and sundry into this small island. Therefore, we have to be practical and stop illegal migration into Lanka and NOT make Lanka the venue for Tamil liberation from Caste. Tamil Caste liberation from Caste has to happen in Tamil Nadu, where the Caste Structure begins.

as you mention early you can see different Jaffna Tamil & Indian Tamil, more Indian Tamil are in NEP nowadays , I aggred In found out they are not Indian Tamil they are estate Tamils.
eg: reason counting SL Tamil 2.60 to now near 2m & Estate Tamil 1.4m to near 2m ( Sinhalese 15m to 20m now)
so Tamil 1m left (.8m left +.2m killed) also nowadays estate Tamil are registering as SL Tamil origin
so Total 2.60+1.40=4m this should be 5m as similar to Sinhala (15m to 20m) so 2m SL Tamil+2m Estate Tamil(half of them living in NEP now) +1m left (include .20m left from the world) !

Illegal Migration from Tamil Nadu never ever stopped, not even after Independence. TN Tamils are built differently, heavier and bigger made than Northern Tamils. Mannar was the favored point of entry for Illegal Migrants(Rev. Reyappu Joseph’s area), and this went on apace during ltte occupation of those areas. We think the Illegal Migrants blend in as Upcountry or Indian Tamils to avoid detection and later move East. We noticed such heavy built Tamils in Colombo prior to Riots of 1983.
Not only that Illegal Migration has to stop and such Migrants deported, but also calls for Separatism has to stop, for always.
In spite of about one MILLION Tamils going west after trumped up 1983 Riots, the number of Tamil people here have not dropped, and that cannot be through natural growth of the Tamil population.
Bring in Canada & UN to expedite Caste liberation in TN. No other way.

I do not agree with you re Tamil population figures. It is not similar to Sinhala population figures. The Tamil number increases are much larger, and can be accounted for only through illegal migration.
Illegal Migrants have not assimilated into mainstream living. They do not have proper homes. They are burden on society here. If they stay on in Sri Lanka they will only encourage more illegal migrants. They also create language problems as they do not know any Sinhela at all. They go on thinking Tamil Nadu as their true homeland. They affect our Economy as well as Security here. They are uneducated and unskilled people usually with high expectations and carry the seeds of anger and mistrust through caste discrimination experienced in Tamil Nadu. I am sorry for them, but Sri Lanka is a small country and cannot afford illegal migrants.
You may dismiss illegal migrants as no problem. We see them as a real problem.
I have nothing more to say on this matter.

Al-Qaeda is not operating in Sri Lanka- so say the Ministry of Defence yesterday for the second time within a month.
The Ministry of Defence says Al Qaeda does not have a base in Sri Lanka nor does any other terrorist organization.
Defence Ministry spokesman Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya said that on several occasions there had been allegations that foreign terrorist groups were using Sri Lanka as a base for training.
He said that the Sri Lankan authorities have not given any space for such groups to operate inside Sri Lanka.
“Terrorism is terrorism no matter what form it is in. Like the way we defeated the LTTE if Muslim or Islamic groups attempt to engage in terrorism from inside Sri Lanka we will not leave room for such activities,” he said.
Wanigasooriya says Sri Lanka has the capability of detecting and taking action again any terrorist related activities on Sri Lankan soil.
However he says so far the army and the defence intelligence units have not received any information related to foreign terrorist groups operating in Sri Lanka.

India to Inform Sri Lanka about terror cloud on Pak Embassy official – Report
India will be informing Sri Lanka about an official working with the Pakistan High Commission in Colombo who was allegedly playing a key role in planning terror strikes at the behest of ISI on the US and Israeli consulates in the southern part of the country.
The information will be shared with Sri Lankan authorities by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) under the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) signed between the two countries in 2010, official sources said.
NIA had last month taken over the case which was earlier registered by Tamil Nadu Police in which a Sri Lanka national, Sakir Hussain, was arrested following a tip-off from the Intelligence Bureau (IB).
Hussain was accused of having entered India with a mission to carry out reconnaissance of the US Consulate in Chennai and the Israeli Consulate in Bangalore.
The information under MLAT, which has been cleared for sending to Colombo through diplomatic channels, names Amir Zubair Siddiqui, Consular (Visa) in the Pakistani Mission in Sri Lanka as the main conspirator who was involved in a conspiracy with some Lankan nationals for carrying out terror attacks on the two consulates, the sources said.
Repeated attempts to obtain comments from the Pakistani High Commission’s Visa and Information sections failed as there was no reply.
However, earlier, its Press Attache Muhammad Daud Ehtisham was quoted as saying that Pakistan and its state institutions are responsible entities and do not indulge in such activities.
Siddiqui is not a new name for IB as his name had cropped up earlier in 2012-13 when security agencies picked up one Tameem Ansari, a frequent flier between Trichy and Colombo. Ansari was arrested after six months of surveillance in 2012.
A small trader who sent, among other things, potatoes and onions to Sri Lanka, Ansari was in touch with Haji, a Tamil- speaking Muslim from Colombo. However, after his business failed, one Haji allegedly introduced him to Siddiqi in the Pakistan mission in Colombo, and his second in command, Shaji.
After reportedly brainwashing him, Siddiqi roped him in to take videos of the Nagapattinam port, the ships that berthed there, the topography and other dimensions as well as Mallipattinam, traditionally a landing point.
His name again figured after IB, on a tip-off from its Malaysian counterparts, foiled an attempt by ISI to carry out terror attacks on the two foreign consulates in India.
Sakir Hussain told interrogators that he had been hired by Siddiqui in Colombo as per the alleged ISI plans to conduct reconnaissance of the US Consulate in Chennai and Israeli Consulate in Bengaluru.
The case was eventually transferred to NIA as overseas investigation was required into it. Hussain told interrogators that the Pakistani spy agency was planning to send two men from the Maldives to Chennai and that he had to arrange for their travel documents and hideouts.
During interrogation, Hussain reportedly took the name of Siddiqui as his alleged handler and also said he had been chosen as he was engaged in human trafficking, making of forged passports and smuggling of fake Indian currency.
Sleuths had recovered pictures of the US and Israeli consulates showing various gates and roads leading to the two premises, the sources said, and claimed that these pictures had been mailed to his alleged handlers in Pakistan and its High Commission in Colombo.
Cyber signatures showed that the pictures were downloaded in a computer within the premises of Pakistan High Commission at Colombo and the same had been shared with Sri Lankan authorities, the sources claimed.
Now, under MLAT, Sri Lankan authorities have been asked to share their probe details in the case.
Under the treaty, both countries will provide assistance in locating and identifying persons and objects; taking evidence and obtaining statements; authorising the presence of persons from the Requesting State at the execution of requests; facilitating the appearance of witnesses or the assistance of persons in investigations, among others.
Sri Lankan authorities were carrying out a probe at their end to fill in the gaps in the investigation being undertaken by India besides corroborating the versions of Hussain and another accomplice of his, Mohammed Hussain Mohammed Sulaiman, who has been arrested by Malaysian authorities who stumbled upon the plot when its Special Unit was probing money laundering and human trafficking cases.
A Sri Lankan citizen, 47-year-old Sulaiman is wanted in India for allegedly hatching a criminal conspiracy, acts done by several persons in furtherance of a common intention, possession of forged or counterfeit currency notes or bank notes, terrorist acts, and raising funds for terrorist acts. He is considered crucial for the investigation.
Sulaiman has told Malaysian authorities that he had received instructions to assist two men in the planned attacks on the consulates.
The sources said that the apparent strategy being followed by Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) was to rope in Muslims from Sri Lanka for executing their plans to give credibility to the deniability factor that it was not involved in any way.
Perhaps, now one can understand why people are sceptical of MOD statements.
