Backscratching of the convict S.B Dissanayake by Ranil's UNP is a direct assault on law and order.

Dr Eric Wimalaweera Sydney Australia

Ranil Wickramsinghe and his UNP parliamentary members are said to be making moves to help ex-minister, convict S.B.Dissanayake, undermining the law and order of the country.

S.B Dissanayake, when he was a minister was well known as a person with scant disrespect to all accepted principles of public life. It was alleged that S B D was a specialist in vote rigging methods which helped both the SLFP and UNP at different times. He was directly responsible in creating a number of unpleasant moves against Sri Lanka's sprint queen, Susanthika Jayasinghe making Sri Lanka a joke in the eyes of the world.

SBD was well known for his close association with the mafia in Sri Lanka and his sons were considered to be above the law. On a number of occasions SBD's sons were playing hell in the city nightclubs but the Police was helpless as politicians like at the present came forward to shield them.

When SBD mismanged the Samurdhi funds like many politicians who feather their own nests at the expense of poor Sri Lankans and according to news reports when such funds are divereted to the bank accounts of the 'custodians' of the people's money that is the last thing expected by the masses of Sri Lanka. It is a well-known story that SDB owns properties in Australia and his sons study in Australia. If one examines how SBD became a landowner in Australia, many interesting stories imporatnt to the Sri Lankan masses, will emerge.

Put simply, if politicians who are trustees of the voters who are diddled, they deserve to be PUNISHED. If any others who colluded with men SBD and likes of them attempt a white wash campaign such acts must be condemned. Ranl Wickramasinghe and the UNP members must be mad to put up a fight to help SBD or are they trying to cover their backs so that SBD will not reveal the secret joint operations conducted by the UNP under the Captain SBD.

No sensible party or a party member (including the Jathika Hela Urumaya) should support any move to bring SBD to parliament. Action of any party or person supporting such a move should be treated as support granted towards evil. We appeal to all democratic forces to rise against 'save SDB' movement of Ranil and his UNP.
