NALIN DE SILVA ATTACKS RANIL WICKREMESINGHE FOR TRYING TO ECHO WHAT HIS MASTERS SAY IN BRITAIN WHO CREATED THE PROBLEMBy Walter JayawardhanaCalling Ranil Wickremesinghe, the UNP leader an agent of the West
Professor Nalin de Silva of the Kelaniya University said the UNP leader
is instructing the government to accept solutions by the creators
of the problem in Sri Lanka and such solutions could be
suicidal for the country. Nalin de Silva, head of the think tank, Chintana Parshadaya was replying
to Sri Lankas Leader of Opposition Wickremesinghe who made some
statements in Chennai Air port after touring India and some Western
countries. The former Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe reportedly
told reporters at Meenambakkam airport, in Chennai that Sri Lankan
President Mahinda Rajapakse should consider the views of India, the
US and European nations for implementing his fresh set of proposals
to end the ethnic strife in the island republic. Indian agency reports
said He said so , when he arrived from Dubai en route to Colombo.
According to the same sources he said that he had not fully read the
proposals as he was away from his country for the last 10 days. Ranil Wickremesinghe who spends most of his time abroad would
not have known the proposals at first hand. However, if he was genuinely
interested in the proposals he could have obtained the necessary information
from various websites or from a friend in Sri Lanka, said Nalin
De Silva further criticizing the Leader of Opposition. There is no need, said Nalin De Silva, to consider
the views of the others in solving the so called ethnic problem created
by the British. Though it was the British who created the problem,
it does not make them eligible to be the solver of the problem. In
fact it is suicidal to get advice from the creator of the problem,
as the latter would always have vested interests. Britain would never
accept that they created the problem. He said if not for the British had given privileges to the elite
Tamils in Sri Lanka since the days of the legislative assembly this
so called problem would not have arisen. Further attacking Ranil Wickremesinghe Nalin De Silva said no problem can be solved without knowing what the problem is. This is a fundamental axiom in Sinhala Buddhist culture, and Ranil Wickremesinghe who is alien to that culture would not have known it. Instead of Studying the problem, he is satisfied with echoing the views of his masters in the west, and he wants the President also to emulate him. |
