AZERBAIJAN NEWS AGENCY TREND SAYS MAHINDA RAJAPAKSA POSITION AT THE NEXT PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION WILL BE UNASSAILABLE

AzerbaijanƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Trend News Agency said at the next Presidential election after November this year in Sri Lanka , President Mahinda RajapaksaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s position will be very unassailable.
ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Rajapakse currently enjoys an unassailable position on the strength of his unprecedented victory over Tamil Tiger rebels,ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚the news agency said.
The item published by the news agency cited the following reason for President RajapaksaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s strong position in Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s polity: ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- Rajapakse was able to win a civil war between the government troops and the rebel Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam in the last three years, ending the rebels’ 30-year-old armed campaign to carve out an independent Tamil homeland in the north and east for the minority Tamils.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚
The news agency said Opposition United National Party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe will be putting forward a coalition of political parties and civili society groups against Rajapaksa.
The news agency quoted him as saying at a local government election at Wellawaya they would also discuss the rapid development plan Rajapaksa is attempting to implement.
The news agency said the Sri Lankan President , elected in 2005 , is said to be considering a move to call a snap Presidential election after November.
