Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama paid a farewell call on the outgoing Archbishop of Colombo, the Most Reverend Dr. Oswald Gomis, at the ArchbishopƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s House in Borella on Monday.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Minister Bogollagama extended his sincere appreciation of the work carried out by Archbishop Gomis in fostering unity and solidarity amongst all communities living in Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  He apprised the Archbishop of the diplomatic initiatives undertaken by the Sri Lankan Government in engaging the international community in the current post-conflict scenario.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  In this context, the Foreign Minister acknowledged the contribution made by the Archbishop in projecting a positive image of Sri Lanka to the world.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Archbishop Gomis in turn thanked Foreign Minister Bogollagama for the support extended to the Catholic Church in Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  He expressed his appreciation of the critical role played by the Foreign Minister in Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s peace process through positive engagement of the international community at a critical juncture in the countryƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s history.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The Archbishop expressed confidence in the GovernmentƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s ability to successfully implement a political solution that will be acceptable to all communities living in Sri Lanka.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In conclusion, the Foreign Minister offered his best wishes to Archbishop Gomis in his future endeavours.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Additional Secretary (Political Affairs) C. Wagiswara and Director General/South Asia & SAARC Ranjith Uyangoda were present at the Meeting.
