SWAN OUT OF THE KNOWN LAKE……………..yet to perform in unknown terrain

Piyal Samarakone
She is gathering her momentum in a rapid pace setting aside all the disbeliefs and creating a political whirlwind which apparently touched by every nook and corner of the island at present.
One can argue that she will never get a chance to perform or at least trying hard to believe so, nevertheless all those twists and somersaults being taken place in the centre stage we are forced to recall the famous phrase ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-never say neverƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚. The divided minds find extremely difficult to understand whether they are really on the correct side of the political river bank and assert its fertility. Not surprisingly, knowing the task is equal to drain out water from the milk, perhaps more difficult than that, for some. May be the swan out of the known lake could do that even on dry land, and believers keep increasing, thatƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s the reality.
Scores of countries rose from ashes to their present day prosperity after major conflicts with strong leadership and plenty of courageous leaders made the history by doing so, some even changed the pattern of the history in order to give a better life to their fellow citizens. We need a vision of a Lee Kwan U or Mahathir Mohamed but constantly people of Sri Lanka blessed with plenty of Stalins and Pinochets. And Leader making machinery in our country is so poor and we as responsible citizens too should take the blame to a greater extent.
The new beginning went on astray just after the greatest victory of the nation and people would not please to see the golden opportunity wasted and to face yet another darker period in a different form. Leaders need to understand that their existence depending on what they deliver not what they preach. Realistically, no one expects a clean character amongst any of the leaders yet people need a leader with lesser sins. We, people of the country who are more unfortunate than those political losers, as each time the oasis turns into a mirage and hopelessness prevails or lingers to a another day.
Based only on those circumstances all the different factions with extreme views come together to cry for a change, we the disappointed citizens do not wish to see yet another drama of a infamous ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- Yasalalaka TissaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚. The people of Sri Lanka perhaps the most politically tantalized lot you may find in the whole of universe and the highest recipients of the dubious labeled promises.
Therefore corruption, waste, nepotism, political refectories and well oiled state and non-state sponsored hooliganism have become part and parcel of the domestic life and go beyond imaginable boundaries.
At times it is hilarious to see our leaders and would-be-leaders time to time invoke GodƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s blessings to our motherland and do the exact opposite from the moment they sit on the throne and having a great pleasure by going behind all known deities and sprites at will.
Undoubtedly no one can predict history would not repeat this time either, yet the innocent hope of the poor massesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ cannot be altered and will remain same as their invokes never be heard directly by the living or non-living gods but invariably they channel through political wymas.
