Why Ban Ki Moon’s Persistence About An Investigative Panel for Sri Lanka Should Be Viewed With Contempt And Trashed!!

Lankaweb Editorial March 17th 2010
In the turn of recent events transpiring in Sri LankaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a few plain truths are becoming more and more painfully obvious about the difficulties being encountered by the Rajapaksha Administration towards motivating the best interests of the Island Nation and guiding it in the right direction towards prosperity and development as it is being constantly interfered with by individuals who take it upon themselves to be officiously judgemental over issues they seem to know little or nothingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ about beyond hearsayƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and even if they did, have no right to the privilege of summary execution withi Sri Lanka.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ One of the chief culprits in this capacity is UN chief Ban Ki Moon who also seems to have some vested interest if not coercion by the Tamil Diaspora anti Rajapaksha lobby where one does not have too far to look if one interpreted the body language and rhetoric of Naveen Pillai of the UN, as well as aƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Ban KiƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Moon family connection to another individual whose contempt for the Rajapaksha Administration is well known in global circles.Perhaps the man himself needs an investigative panel!
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Ban Ki Moon should tread cautiously on the issue of attempting to appoint an investigative panel for human rights violations in Sri Lanka, something he neither hasƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a mandate for,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ nor any tangible evidence even if there was a mandate to back his demand hypotheticallyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ for such a panelƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ towards rights violations.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He seems oblivious to the fact that based on the forcefulness of his effortsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the end result could be a conspiracy against Sovereign Sri Lanka with the backing of anti national elements with him as the ringleader which cannot be ruled out.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Moon should be reminded in case it has slipped his conscience and cognizanceƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ that there are places in the world where the real need for such investigations seem imperative to which the UN constantly turns a blind eye andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ that his constant bickering about Sri Lanka is turning into a meaningless scenario where his own transparencies seem to overshadow any credibility towards the cause andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ needs to be asked to back off unless he wants to make the UN organization the laughing stock of the world with his comical and meaningless posturing about Sri Lanka.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ His greatest transparency according to many legal analysts is that he is portraying the veiled image of being a spokesman for Sarath Fonseka and is meddling into the internal affairs ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a rock solid as well asƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ an established Legal Justice System ensconced within a caste iron Constitution protecting the rights of all Sri Lankan Citizens and consequently Sri LankaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ does not need his myopic overviews about her internal affairs, the handling of which in fact continues admirably with President Rajapaksha at the helm and has been commended by many assertive Nations around the world for his effortƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in the aftermath of theTamil Tiger( LTTE) defeat and the landslide Presidential victory at the polls.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It seems a distinct possibility thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Mr. Ban is responding to the recent turn of events in the aftermath of the defeat of the Tamil Tigers as well as theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ defeat of Fmr. Gen Sarath Fonseka at the presidentialƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ polls ~both events being of huge concern to the anti Government bandwagon of the pro LTTE diaspora also linked toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ some western countries whose disgruntled responses to both events have surfaced from time to time and Ban rather than being diplomatic and cautious over his direction to related issued has thrown himself in head first into a morass of indecisive decision making by virtue of his status as UN leader in the manner of a Bull In A Chinashop.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He really should back off and confine his efforts to more crying needs around the globe or risk being “Ban ned” from a Sri Lankan perspective for incompetence as the leader of the prestiigious organizationƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ he is attempting to convert into a media circus with mereƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ token aspirations towards settling the world’s woes and getting laughed at for his pitiful efforts!
A distinguished and presigious legal analyst within Sri Lanka Senior Counsel Gomin Dayasiri has expressed a scathing as well as judicious opinion which attests to interference by external forces into Sri Lankan affairs motivated by internal pundits with intent to cause mischiefƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ that “Former Chief Justice Sarath Nanda SilvaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s ( a former ally of the President now turned rebellious critic!)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ statement on the arrest of General Sarath Fonseka is contrary to law and has given an extra motivation to certain international forces to interfere with the internal matters, threatening the sovereignty of the country.( Ban seems to have been paying attention to this exact availability of motivation!)
He further explained that as a legal expert and distinguished counsel( with a touch of duplicity now!)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ former CJ is well aware that in any country national law supercedes international law. So, any matter should be settled within our legal provisions and everybody is equal before the law. It is very unfortunate that being a former CJ, he is criticizing his successorƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s decisions. ( somewhat indiscriminately and recklessly!)Once he sent people to jail under aƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ contempt of court orderƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ when they criticized some court decisions.
People will now think the verdicts given by him when he was in office were with political motives. He has been a spokesman for General Sarath Fonseka who is in military custody. If Sarath Fonseka is not satisfied with the verdict to be given by the court martial, he can appeal to the appellate court and thereafter even to the Supreme Court.
He said the move taken by the Government in this respect is correct and no outsiders should interfere with internal matters. They should be settled within Sri Lanka.
India is a fine example not giving any opportunity for the involvement of international forces.
Even during the tsunami they safeguarded their sovereignty with dignity. So, testifying before an international tribunal is a betrayal of the sovereignty of the country” having more than a ring of truth to these observations.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Ban Ki Moon should take these assertions to heart, dwell onƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ them and applyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ them to his future moves on Sri Lanka if he wishes to maintain his credibility and withdraw in his best interests any aspirations to set up investigative panels in Sri Lanka or risk the possibility of an investigative panel on his own movements and decision making relative to a huge conflict of interest as well as bias in some of his executive decisionƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ making and conduct his pursuits in keeping with proper UN Policy!

What the Editor has said, should be assimilated in the proper perspective without bias. It appears that Ban Ki Moon is on a vendetta, arising from being subservient to a female, for reasons best known, not only to him, but to countries around the world, and individuals, associated with a Democratically Elected President, and a Democratically Elected Government of Sri Lanka. It is very evident that Ban Ki Moon, is subjugated, not only by this female, but also by the the Tamil Terrorists Diaspora, with Billions of Dollars in their coffers, to fork out for SERVICES RENDERED. THIS IS BANKIMOON MONEY TALKING. All his time and effort is on Sri Lanka. WHY ? Oh ! WHY ?
In this Forum, I appealed to His Excellency The President, Mahinda Rajapaksha, to initiate forming the SOUTH EAST ASIAN NATIONS ( SEAN ), with the help of India, China, Russia, Iran, Pakistan, and the Middle Eastern Countries, as a paralell entity, to the United Nations. Please refer to my article on SEAN. The NAM Members, 124 of them quite rightly, reflected their dissent, in no uncertain terms, to Ban Ki Moons sinister effort to discredit this beautiful Island Nation, of Sri Lanka, with an investigative panel. Ban Ki Moons notion that he is above and beyond the law, is reprehensible. His investigative panel would be acting mala fide, in consensus and symbolic with the thoughts of Ban Ki Moon, and his Virago. It is crystal clear that the Tamil Tiger Terrorists Sympathisers have issued writ through the Virago, to Ban Ki Moon, to act like the most important personality in a Circus, you know who ?
This time the Tamil Terrorists Diaspora has a unique leader, the UNSG. This time, may be, they will not buy arms and ammunition. This time they will make top leaders of the world servile, to the LTTE Treasury. There will be a Waggon load of Interlopers joining this Gravy Train. Sri Lanka will have to stop the Investigative Panel on their tracks, and turn back everyone on a return flight.
It is time that Sri Lanka Lawyers get together, and help The President legally to insulate Sri Lanka from this sadistic and vile, never ending harrassment. They should find legal means to bring Ban Ki Moon and his Virago before a South East Asian Court.
It is my poit of view that the instituition known as an International Court is a hoax. Why ? because it is a few countries, just a handful, that one could count with the five fingers of one hand, that would comprise of The Judge, Juror, and Executioner. So, Ban Ki Moons surreptitious attempt to lead Sri Lanka to an International Court, through an illegal Investigative Panel, should be met with severe strictures.
It is also my wish to re-iterate emphatically, that, like the Congress and Senate, SOUTH EAST ASIA NATIONS body should be in the Embryo stage right away, to meet degenerative and retrogressive policies of the United Nations.
Can the Editor please lobby with the Presidential Secretariat, to transplant the SOUTH EAST ASIAN NATIONS embryo and create a pregnancy. Would love to see SEAN born in Sri Lanka.

Good work. The best reply to these threats to destablize Sri Lanka is to make use of the forthcomig Parliamentary election to elect a government with a 2/3rd mjority who would withstand the international pressures including that examplefied by the U.N. It is time for the voters to demand the opinion of the major palitical parties to declare their stand on this explicit threat. Have the present opposition parties declared their stand on this question? Either they must register their opposition to U.N. Secretary General’s decision or at least explain what they are planning to do if and when they come to power. The present Goverment’s stand is clear and the voters must be given the opportunity to compare that with the opposition.
It is interesting to assess the present election campaign carried out by the political parties. Except for a few of the candidates from the Governing coalition who express view on this question, I do not see a major discussion that is been initiated by both sides. The general public must be awakened to this threat which is a second major war that has to be won. The people must be reminded of the inaction and the silence observed by the Western Powers, N.G.Os and the U.N.O. at a time when the LTTE was carrying out mass murders of innocent unarmed men, women and childern. It must be reminded how LTTE carried out the mass massacres of Aranthalawa, in the visinity of Anuradapura, surrendered police officers etc. Did any of these Western Powers, N.G.Os, U.N.O. take any action to investigate these mass murders? So it is time now for the people of Sri Lanka to send a strong messege by electing a very strong government who would protect the integrity and sovereignty of the island. These outside intruders must be told in un-no certain terms that Sri Lanka is not a playing field to while away their leisure time.
Already the voice has been raised by the Non Aligned nations and it is upto Sri Lanka public to join the campaign and send a unanimous and strong messege to U.N.Chief to give up his “Alignment” to Western Powers and the N.G.Os who are hell bent on destablizing Sri Lanka.
