ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The state of affairs the UNP has mired itself into through the actions and posturings of its shallow minded totallly inefficient leader Ranil Wickremasinghe was portrayed by a previous item under the same caption and today related unfolding of events continue in similar fashion with the soap box orators of the Wickremasinghe entourage bragging about many issues which they don’t seem to have a lid over beyond the fantasy world they live in.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Throw into this the mindsets of a few runaway former JVP deserters and the rest of the breakaway stragglers who have deserted their original political leanings and have chosen to support the ungainly, seemingly disoriented UNP and the shouting continues to the ire of a Nation sick and tired of the meanderings of the UNP bandwagon and its garrulous leader.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The cacophonour rhetoric emanating from the likes of messers Ravi Karunanayaka, Mangala Samaraweera et al about the ‘resounding defeat they are going to hand the UPFA at the forthcoming General Election is also becoming a part of the UNP ‘Yakadakata’ often disturbing the pristine surroundings of urban as well as rural Sri Lanka so much so that virtually the entire Nation or a greater part thereof has begun to agitate over how incongruous they sound and need to be put into perspective.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Next it seems somewhat disconcerting to see and hear the ever egregious and erratic Ranil Wickremasinghe screeching about the medical needs of Fmr.Gen.Sarath Fonseka while in custody and echoing the sentiments of the general’s distressed wife calling for greater medical attention, special teams of doctors and heaven knows what next as though the man is at death’s door when in reality he is very much alive and kicking, perhaps a bit tired and contemplating retirement but noneheless no worse for wear according to independent reports, being a tough and resilient man whom his opportunistic admirers and new found sympathisers are attempting to portray as a sick old man languishing in a smelly, decrepit jail cell and it is quite likely the general himself must not be too amused at all the goings on at least by virtue of that big ego of his which is obviously taking a beating over all the hoopla and hype he is being exposed to in the media for all the wrong reasons!ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 

There seems to be much theatrics by way of the combined efforts of the Fmr. General’s wife Ms. Anoma Fonseka and Mr.Ranil Wickremasinghe doing their Truth and Consequences ( make that Untruth and Dire Cosequences)Show to attract world attention although their objectives may yet be dashed or perhaps even trashed as a very discerning world audienc knows the effort being put towards the medical and humanitarian needs of the remanded General by the Rajapaksha Administration which obviously does not want any blood on its hands with hell to pay if the General is subjected to any medical crisis due to Administrative neglect, natural causes of course carrying no indmenities!ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 

And for the sake of argument, if as his sympathisers suggest the Fmr. Gen. is medically reduced to being a very sick individual as the story goes, logically he would be in no capacity to either run for office or even contemplate continued politics as the disentitlements to all this based on what is being said about his ‘worsening’ condition are many where another irony is involved i.e.first he has to get past a Court Martial and indictments for serious breaches of the Administrative Statutes of Sri Lanka and his sympathisers aren’t helping his case but compounding it through their theatrics!

Something the tiny Wickremasinghe mindset does not seem to be able to assimilate and hence the hue and cry for Fonseka’s upkeep and restitution perhaps a wasted effort and an untimely one which might also end up being a detrimental one towards the best interests of the Fmr. General!ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 

There seems nothing beyond a provocation and a roundabout political ploy for the Opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe ably assisted by Ms.Anoma Fonseka to request that detained Gen. Sarath Fonseka be allowed to be examined by his personal physician and a team of doctors named by the Director General of Health Services as though the Government is sleeping on its duties or incompetent towards this issue ( the furthest from the truth!) where Wickremasinghe would perhaps be better off focussing his efforts to at least bringing in a respectable tally of wins at the General Election to the name of the UNP which as investigative machinations reveal may be marginal and almost certainly insufficient to defeat the UPFA projecting towards another resounding victory!.

If the Government has, as reported in the media in the words of the opposition leader as usual barking up the wrong tree, recently disallowed crucial consideration in treating Fmr. Gen. Fonseka which is a boldly expressed statement albeit erroneously it has to be held liable to any resulting consequences which would obviously be grave and something no source more than the Government would be well aware of.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 

There is also the delicate issue of conflict of interests involving a personal physician where the reported accuracy about his health condition could easily be misrepresented towards drawing sympathy in favour of the Fmr.General especially with a General Election at hand where he is a participant!ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 

Quite apparently bit of inadvertent cunning has manifested itself through the connivance of Wickremasinghe and the Government perhaps in sensing this has decided to use its own discretion towards providing expert medical care which it sees fit for the Fmr. General and quite justifiably so!

There isn’t a semblance of credibility in what Wickremasinhe and the General’s wife are trying to portray merely to discredit the Government!

Ranil Wickremasinghe as usual has resorted to below the belt tactics accusing the Government of placing Gen. Fonseka in unhygenic and inhumanitarian conditions which would be detrimental to his health and of course a blatant lie where the Government should have no qualms about letting qualified independent sources observe the conditions and facilities provided for him towards shutting up the Wickremasinghe et al accusations and taking him in particular to task for some of his own misdemeanours which went virtually unpunished in the past. Many and varied to be precise and itemisable if necessary and here the man is shouting allegations against a Government doing practically everything to maintain order within a turbulent Nation as well as trying to cope with unfounded lies and innuendo.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 

A dire state of affairs involving the UNP and its feeble minded leader who needs to be taken to task for his bold verbosity towards what many see as an attempt to discredit the Government which the man is no novice at!
