IMPORTANT REQUEST TO SRI LANKAN AUSTRALIANS LIVING IN AUSTRALIA, IN PARTICULAR TO THOSE WHO ARE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE (WE BELIEVE NUMBERING NEARLY 100,000), IN THE AUSTRALIAN GENERAL ELECTION ON 21 AUGUST 2010

Dear Australians of Sri Lankan origin who will be voting at the forthcoming general election,

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Please do not cast your vote for the Australian Greens. Please put the Australian Greens as your last preference in your ballot paper. This will be a very big help that you will be doing for your mother country, Sri Lanka.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In our view the Australian Greens have done so much damage to Sri Lanka. Some of which are listed below (courtesy: Sri Diaspora):

1)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The Australian Greens leader, Bob Brown, went to show solidarity with the Tamils on hunger strike in Canberra, just prior to the end of the terrorist war in Sri Lanka in 2009

(2) Sydney Tamil groups, who cry for the separation of Sri Lanka, supported Mr Bob BrownƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s fundraiser on 16 July 2010

(3)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ On Channel 9 TV, Mr Bob Brown vehemently criticised Sri Lanka, stating that there are about 250,000 Tamil civilians being held in what he called ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-concentration campsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ in pretty appalling conditions. He stated some of the civilians are being released at the moment, but the government authorities are going through those camps to try to weed out the people they feel were leading the insurrection. This statement was not true and was an unfair accusation towards Sri Lanka.http://greensmps.org.au/blog/bob-ch9-with-laurie-oakes

(4)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young put forward a Motion in the Canberra ParliamentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  on 26 June 2010 requesting that an international investigation be conducted in relation to the conduct of the warƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  in Sri Lanka.

(5)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The Australian Greens appointed a Sri Lankan Tamil woman (whose uncle is alleged to be in jail in the UK for aiding the Tamil terrorist group, the Tamil Tigers)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to contest the forthcoming general election as one of their senate candidates in NSW.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  This is effectively a slap on the face of the Sinhalese living in Australia.

(6)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Bob Brown spoke in support of the Tamils and criticisedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the Sri Lankan Government.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ (7)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Australian Greens leaders have often spoken in favour of the unfair and unreasonable Tamil causes that underpins the separation of Sri Lanka, while demeaning and unfairly criticising the government of Sri Lanka

(8) The Australian Greens have incorrectly apportioned blame on the Government of Sri Lanka for the influx of Tamil asylum seekers to Australia by boats. Mr Bob Brown and Sarah Hanson ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” YoungƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  have somewhat taken leadership roles in this regard in Australia.

The Australian Greens have committed unfriendly and hostile acts towards a country friendly to Australia, Sri Lanka, we believe to garner a vote base.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ On many occasions the Australian Greens have shown unfriendliness towards Sri Lanka in the past. They have criticized Sri Lanka unfairly and unreasonably. They have not firmly supported the unitary status of Sri Lanka, but have shown support to the Sri Lankan separatist elements in Australia that wish to have Sri Lanka split into two nations.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is believed that Sri Lankan Tamils in AustraliaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  have made financial contributions to the Australian Greens.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It has come to our attention that Mr Bob Brown has not favourably responded to requests made by Sinhalese Groups in Australia to meetƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  with him.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Let us not vote for the Australian Greens in the forthcoming general election. Let us put the Australian Greens as our last preference.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ By doing this you will be doing a great service to Sri Lanka.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Apart from the above, the following federal parliamentarian has consistently severely and unfairly criticised Sri Lanka in the federal parliament. He has only promoted the agenda of the Tamil groups, and has denied appointments for Sinhalese groups to meet with him:

  • JOHN MURPHY ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” MEMBER FOR LOWE

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Let us not vote for them as they have not been friendly to Sri Lanka on many occasions. We believe they are against the best intersts of Sri Lanka.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ On 1 June 2009, Melissa Parke, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Member for Freemantle WA,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  introduced a Private MembersƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ Motion in the Canberra Parliament, requesting an independent international investigation into war crimes alleged to have been committed by both parties (Sri Lankan Government and theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  LTTE)

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The following members of the federal parliament spoke in support of Ms ParkeƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Motion:

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ John Murphy MP for Lowe

Julie Owens MP for Parramatta

Kerry Rea MP for Bonner

Alex Hawke MP for Mitchell

Louise Markus MP for Greenway

Bruce Billson MP for Dunkley

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ We urge the Sri Lankans living in Australia, to support Mr Don Randall, MP for Canning WA, and Mr Steve Hutchins, Senator for NSW, who are seeking re-election in the forthcoming general elections. They have been great friends to Sri Lanka and have spoken very much in support of Sri Lanka in so many places on so many occasions. We urge the Sri Lankans living in Australia to vote for them, disregarding any other party affinities (only if they apply). Thank you.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Please spread this message as much as possible among the Sri Lankan disapora living in Australia especially those who are eligible to vote at the coming general election (we believe, numbering nearly 100,000).

  1. margaret Says:

thank you for giving the names of the people who support an investigation into an independent investigation, those are the people that I and others will now be voting for. I will also now be voting for the Greens based on the strong support you suggest they have for people who have suffered. If there is nothing to hide from the international community you would not have a problem with an independent inquiry. Mr Don Randall is at the moment campaigning on the basis of Christianity being important in the election, so I guess if you believe strongly in Christianity he is the person you would vote for. If you are Buddhist you may want think more on what he stands for.

  2. Raju Says:

There are 50,000 Sinhalese in Australia

There are 30,000 Tamils in Australia

Yet Tamils control all the media, with many of the media organs in Australia having Tamils on the editorial board and heavily funded/invested in by Tamils.
SBS I believe it is called has the daughter of an LTTE “brigadier” in its editorial and management board. Many other media establishment in Australia have the same “story” which explains their attitude towards Sri Lanka and Sinhalese coupled with the racist bias of “we must rule and dominate” (little brown people) exhibited by the whites of Australia (and other Western countries).

Futhermore is Tamils are far more united and driven by a clear political desire than Sinhalese, part of this being Tamil survival in Australia is/was dependent on refugee asylum claims and thus war in Sri Lanka and pushing the Tamil “persecution” fairy tale.

Most Sinhalese either do not care (and this is the case for them elsewhere) or play idiot politics themselves (as is the case with Sinhalese in the UK, who refuse to support Sri Lanka because “today it is not UNP”) or are trembling cowards.

Australia is home to “Troops of Tigoons” made up of Tamil terrorist worshipping Sinhalese (mainly youth) who push appeasement and surrender and are in reality a disgusting lot of people who backed the LTTE and Tamil violence against their own people out of their twisted ideals (there parents are to blame for this).

How many idiot Sinhalese voted for Obama? Anyone could tell from a mile off he would be anti-Sinhala and anti-Sri Lanka yet they voted for him in droves and backed him like moronic zombies based on some idiotic notions and thinking.

Tamils fully invest in political system countries and engage in heavy propaganda –backed by Western Governments and their intelligence services, so they do have an easy advantage on an unfair playing field.

That does not mean however Sinhalese cannot fight back.

Sadly many are deluded themselves (like that fellow Ruwan who writes here and seems stuck in a version of 1983 worst than what the Tamils conjure up for their own advancement –Tamils no doubt laugh loudly at such “modayas” they catch), are driven by their moronic political thinking, are out right cowards and appeasers or simply do not care one bit. I suppose the last case is excusable (cannot force them to support Sri Lanka especially if they left to get away from Sri Lanka), but the other cases are just down right ridiculous and smacks of the pathetic nature of Sinhalese.
An example of this is during the Florida cricket match involving Sri Lanka: UNPers & JVPers residing in the US choose that as a place to attack Sri Lanka (comically and disgustingly joining up with the Tamil diaspora) to help their political jokers back in Sri Lanka. Likewise when Fonny Fonseka was rightfully arrested they protested loudly and in their numbers, but non were seen when Tamils were holding their violent unruly “protests” (which were incidentally backed and orchestrated by the West) a year earlier.

Need to get the basics right. For starters stop saying “Sri Lankan diaspora”, no such thing exists, it is either Sinhala diaspora or Tamil diaspora. Hence why the number of 100,000 quoted here about Australia is wrong. How can anything “be done” when you cannot get the basics right or live in some fraudulent buddle of exactly what “Sri Lankan” is for goodness sake?
