THE OTTAWA CITIZEN
Sir:ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ O me Gawd, here comes another joker making his two cents worth of insinuations of how bad the Sri Lankan government is towards the minority Tamils, thus supporting the cause of the 492 illegal Tamil migrants of the Sun Sea to be allowed in as refugees. I was disappointed to read Peter Showler’s essay on “Getting Tough on Refugees”.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ I am prepared to dismiss his whole essay as biased piffle when he says, “Three hundred thousand Tamil civilians were displaced and interred in camps where rights violations have been alleged. International observers were denied access to the camps.
The Tamil region is still under military control. Many of the people on the boat may well have suffered physical injuries, arbitrary arrests and imprisonment…” and he drags on with his piffle.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ What Showler failed to acknowledge was that the Government of Sri Lanka rescued nearly 300,000 Tamils who were held hostage by the Tamil Tigers as a human shield for 35 months and hoarded them from the west of the island to the east like cattle while in retreat from the assault by the armed forces.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ They were placed in welfare camps to process their identity, like what the Canadians are doing with the 492 illegal Tamil migrants. Sure, the camps were not five-star hotels, but at least they had beds to sleep on, fed three meals a day, provided medical attention in temporary medical clinics and had temporary schools with qualified teachers for the children, until the terrain was demined, houses rebuilt and infrastructures reconstructed to let the people leave to safety . That was the humane thing to do, and the Sri Lankan government did it.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And what Showler missed acknowledging was that the Sri Lankan government has done better than the Canadian government who believe it will take up to six months to process these 492 Tamil illegal migrants. The UN Resident and Country Representative Neil Buhne said on August 19 that 90% of the 300,000 Internally Displaced People (IDPs) had been resettled in the North in 14 months.
Hurray! to Sri Lanka and Peter Showler better tip his hat to the Sri Lankan Government for their humanitarian handling of their Tamil people who were in distress. They prepared a million meals a day to feed the 300,000 thrice a day and cooked by the majority Sinhalese who the Tamils complain are discriminating them.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But then Showler, the Sinhalese people had a choice, they could have refused to cook and prepare a million meals a day and let the 300,000 Tamils starve to death, but they didn’t. Don’t you think the Sinhalese people too deserve a tip of your hat for being generous, and loving towards their Tamil people who did not consider them as enemies anymore even after 27 years of warring and killing their people with guns, bullets and suicide bombs.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ “The Tamil region is still under military control”, says Showler. What Tamil region? If he is talking of the north of Sri Lanka which the Tamil Tigers high jacked and took control as a de facto separate Tamil state Eelam since 1990, well the Sri Lankan government has every right to guard every inch of its sovereign land from usurpers like the Tamil Tiger terrorists and restore law and order. And this is not rocket science.

Who is this sucker Showler? Asoka, there are f.. idiots around the world who think Sri Lanka is like an African country where people are being mutilated and eaten for breaky! What do we do? Not much, I am afraid at the moment. We need to develop our country economically, eradicate corruption and deal with Ranil, Soma, Sarath and M. Silva!! Then after few year attaining prosperity, the world would talk about Sri Lanka with respect. But for now, we have these stoogers looking down upon us. Let’s hold tight, Rajapakse family is still in the driver seat.

Peter Showler cannot remember that the 1947 UN partition plan that created Israel within Palestine was approved by christian countries such as Canada, USA, Britain, Norway, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Denmark, France, Iceland, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, and almost all the christian members.
The same1947 UN partition plan messed the Palastinian home land and 1948 Arab-Israel war started on this reason. around 750,000 out of 900,000 Palestinian Arabs fled or were expelled from the Palastine mainly from the towns of Haifa, Tel Aviv and Jaffa. About 50,000-70,000 inhabitants of were expelled towards Ramallah (Gaza) by the Israel Army.
As a result there is on going historic blunder happening in Middle East. This is recent history’s biggest debacle in humanity. Palastinians live in 59 designated refugee camp in Jordan, lebanon, Syria, the west Bank and the Gaza Striff. The number of registered Palestine refugees (RPR) are from 914,000 in 1950 to more than 4.3 million in 2005. Since 1947 there are three generations living in refugee camps. More than 3 million born in refugee camps. Why not Peter Showler write essays on this issue. In Sri Lanka it’s just 300,000 also rescued civilians but within 6 months 75% left the camps. Even those 300,000 kept by tamil terrorists as a human shield.
In 1967 war around 325,000 Palestinians fled the territories occupied by Israel, including the demolished Palestinian villages. Where the hell this UNO, UNHR, Amnesty International, HRW. But in Sri Lanka’s situation is different and the tamil civilians came towards the Sri Lanka army when the humanitarian operation taken place. They were not refugees but they were rescued citizen’s from tamil terrorist’s human shield.
Afganistan:
Since 2002, over five million Afghans have lost their living. Today more than three million registered refugees remain in exile – 2. million in Pakistan and 1. million in Iran – and hundreds of thousands more are living abroad. Thanks to NATO invasion Canada, USA, Britain, Australia, Norway,France,Germany, Italy etc. Three Million human refugees are not a worry to Peter Showler or his news paper. Aren’t they human being! Where is elders club, UNO,AI, UNHR,HRW and other NGO’s?????
Iraq:
Seven years after the U.S.,UK, Australia, Italy, Poland and Spain’s military occupation of Iraq. Millions of Iraqis have fled their homes – either for safer locations within Iraq or to other countries in the region – and are living in increasingly desperate circumstances. Iraqi refugees living in Syria, Jordan, and other parts of the region, as well as the millions of internally displaced persons within Iraq. Syria has received the largest number of Iraqi refugees- at least 1.2 million. Why can’t Peter write essays on this topic. Is he a jounalist or robot. Is he a human or alien?
