This time it is Venerable MaduluwaweƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sobitha Thero taking the leadership to represent imperialists puppet from Ambalangoda by planning to hold an Adistana Pooja at the Mahamaluwa of the Great Dalada Maligawa on 7 October 2010 . In February 2010, it was ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha, Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Group Limited called for a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ConventionƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ at the same location of the Dalada Maligawa to discuss grave mattersƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ concerning democracy and governance.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The convention became a total failure due to lack of public anger ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and support.
The Dalada Maligawa is the highest place of worship in Sri Lanka. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The planned prayersƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to be conducted by Ven. Sobitha Thero at the Mahamaluwa is a location which ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ consist of large area of lawn in front of the temple. The Mahamaluwa is a unique location with several historic chapters that embraces the culture, religion and our national heritage. It was at the Mahamaluwa that Ven. Wariayapola Sri Sumangala Thero brought downƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-The Union Jack of British EmpireƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Kathira Kodiya) and replaced with Lions Flag (Sinha Kodiya) . The Mahamaluwa is a picturesque location, inter alia, with the statues of Madduma Bandara, Princess Hemamali and Prince Danthakumara.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Almost 196 years ago, the child hero Madduma Bandara was beheadedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ on the orders of Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe. Princess Hemamali and Prince Danthakumara disguised as Brahmins hiding the toothƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ relic of Buddha, and sailed to Sri Lanka. Is Mahamaluwa the right location to pray for a traitor?
There are many legal cases against Sarath Fonseka, most ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ of which are still in progress.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In a democracy, due process of law must be allowed to take place.
We ask VenƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sobitha Thero the following questions:ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Where were you when SF announced that he will disclose all state secrets to an International War Tribunal regarding alleged war crimes?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Where were you when SF allegedly provided asylum to thousands of army deserters and kept them in readiness for a possible attack?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
The allegations that charges against SF were politically motivated because he contested against President Mahinda Rajapakse are ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ baseless.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Ranil Wickremsinghe had previously contested against the President, but he is still a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-smartƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ free man.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ There are 80 opposition members in the Parliament, they are all free citizens. Sarath Fonseka ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ has garnered 4 million votes at the Presidential election against a very popular President, a living testimony to democracy in Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Addressing a youth forum in Kelaniya, Mr Ranil Wickremasinghe has said that there are only two persons now to speak on behalf of Sarath Fonseka. According to him the two persons are Ven Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero and he himself.
Will Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero be the next Common Candidate for Presidential Election in 2016?

What happened to Former CJ Sarath N De Silva legal expert of SF. He us silent these days? Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero should understand in Buddhism your “Karma” has to be fulfilled by yourself but not by nominated 100 Bikus or 500. What Sobitha Thero going to do if White Flag case proved against SF?

The reverend Bikkhu Sobitha Thero should not instigate others to disrupt the Administration. We can’t go by emotions but should go by the reasons.

When Maj Gen(I suppose) Pannipitiya who liberated East, was court marshalled purposely which prevented him AC?
When over 5000 soldiers who fought the battle were court marshaled and sent home by SF?
When so many insulting filth was uttered by SF on election platforms with threatning language?
The list goes oooonnnnn????? WHERE WAS THIS THERO???
Ven Thero should also not forget that before SF was made AC, he had many bad reports,allegations filled files against SF. But, MR thru Gota’s insistance made SF the AC just 2 weeks before SF’s retirement by sending then AC,Kootegoda on PREMATURE RETIREMENT in order to give SF the promotion.But this UNGREATFUL MAN THRU UNP’s and JVP’s manuaring CONTESTED AGAINST THE VERY PERSON WHO HELPED HIM, thru jeolousy,hatred, and vengeance.
According the Buddhist philosophy, according to what we know RETRIBUTION follows those who commit such heinous crimes.Therefore we urnestly request the Ven Thero to STOP THIS NONSENCE of making this issue a POLITICAL stance FOR THE GREAT TRAITORS,LOOSERRS OF UNP,JVP TO GAIN A POLITICAL MILEAGE!!!

If you want to protect country, you do that by supporting the government by helping the reconciliation procedures going on. If you want to protect buddhism you can do lot of things. Go to Sri Maha Bodhi mahanyake. Go to his liqour cabinet. Smash it. Find his mistress and expose what is going pn in this sacred place.

Dr Dissanayake, you are absolutely right. Sobitha thero has now fallen to the lowest level a bikkhu can be. I used to respect him and attended his sermons at Kingsbury Vihare, and he is from my village Madulawa. With this incident, he lost my respect. Bikkhus must not in the first place get involved in politics, which is a ‘dirty game’. Mr Sobhitha, please note our country has a law which has to be abided by all citizens, irrespective of what positions they hold or have held. Mr Fonseka has been sentenced to go to prison, not nilly willy but after a lengthy legal procedure. Are you saying the judiciary system must have exceptions?. Dear Ven Sobitha I don’t want to call you names, but you seem to be unduly influenced by the bankrupt opposition politicians.

Malinda, Your comment is unreasonable. All of us know your are Bddhist Sinhalese etc, But what Dr Dissanayake has expressed here is the absolute truth. Dr Dissanayake has not insulted the venerable Sobitha. If at all Ven Sobitha earned it himself by involving in politics, which is not a job for him. He should be only providing advice to the king. ‘Arthayen dharmayen anusasana karanna’ is the only thing he should be doing.

I fully aggree with Raj.Dr. Dissa has not insulted the religion or the Thero but has said Thero’s actions are not in keeping with Buddhist Preacings.
Just guess! If by some karma, had SF become the President, SRI LANKA WOULD BE A POOL OF BLOOD!!! IS A FACT!
