Dear Mr. Westhead,

I read your story ‘Sri Lanka continues attack on jailed ex-general’ today at thestar.com. I found many misleading information and I hope you will pay attention to the depth of the situation and the true facts.

Fonseka is an opportunist politician just like many we see here in the US, Canada and in Europe. They say anything to get to power. They are slimy and sleazy as they come. Why should anyone believe him since the opposition in Sri Lanka is pulling the strings? And those Norwegian diplomats he mentions advocated the disastrous Cease-Fire Agreement allowing the Tamil terrorists to acquire more weapons and go on a killing spree, until the Sri Lankan armed forces stopped them. The same Norwegian diplomats were earlier fired by Sri Lanka and could not have been involved in arranging any LTTE surrender as falsely claimed by Fonseka. The human rights peddlers and some western nations taking his phony word for granted show how desperate they are to find anything to crucify Sri Lanka. Remember: when you are making false charges against another, anything goes.

What I find outrageous is that you left out the evidence presented in the court cases against Sarath Fonseka while highlighting his allegations against President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Were you trying to ignore the judicial process in Sri Lanka? You also did not seem to note that not a single person in uniform has stepped into defending Fonseka. In fact, you left out every detail that shows why Fonseka deserves jail time. Is subversion against a non-western democracy OK as long as western interests are served? Should we care about the facts?

Then you quoted Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, former Sri Lanka Ambassador to the UN at Geneva. In order to support your charges against SL, you left out a critical piece of information, thus misleading your readers: China, India, Egypt and Cuba were among the 29 developing countries that backed the resolution describing the conflict as a “domestic matter that doesn’t warrant outside interference” at the UN Human Rights Council on May 28, Thursday 2009 ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ The Sri Lankan Ambassador in Geneva said European nations had failed with their “punitive and mean-spirited agenda” against his country. “This was a lesson that a handful of countries which depict themselves as the international community do not really constitute the majority,” Dayan Jayatilleka said. “The vast mass of humanity are in support of Sri Lanka.” So let me ask again: who really represents this so called international community – the most powerful countries or just the nations that are influenced by the Tiger terrorists?

Do you realize that nations who are very concerned about human rights violations in Sri Lanka are the same nations that are immensely prejudiced by the LTTE-controlled Tamil communities? Here’s some research for you:

This is just one example from Canada. From my letter to Mr. Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ “according to reports, Canada, unfortunately, is huge base for the Tamil Tiger terrorists. Many Tamils defrauded Canadian immigration authorities, just like they did in the US, Europe and Australia, and entered it claiming to be political refugees when in fact they were economic refugees. This was the plan of the LTTE for the last 30 years. Once these Tamils established themselves in Canada, they were systematically milked and even terrorized by the LTTE for vast amounts of funds. That is how the LTTE made $ 200 to 300 million annually per Jane’s Defense Intelligence Review. That is also how the Tamils on that ship (MV Sun Sea) paid for their voyage to the west. This terrorist group raised the bar and set examples to other terrorist groups with their sophisticated criminal organizations, weapons, political contacts and arms technologies, allƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  purchased by those funds. Let us also not forget a heartbreaking fact: Sri Lanka would never have seen a terror war and the resulting carnage if not for the Tamils living in the west. Remember: success of Tamils in Canada and the west directly corresponds to the success of the Tamil Tiger terrorists. We cannot let this continue and we definitely cannot let LTTE be the model for al Qaeda or other terrorist groups.”

These facts are well documented by the extensive research done by the Mackenzie Institute in Canada. From their report: “A unique use of emigre communities to support their cause: While the use of emigrated nationals to support various homeland conflicts is an old story; the Tigers were unique in facilitating the Diaspora of Sri Lankan Tamils into Western democratic states (US, UK, Canada). As hundreds of thousands of Tamils made the transition from poor refugees and newly landed immigrants to prosperous citizens, they were controlled to a degree never seen before and systemically milked for contributions to support the LTTE’s war effort. HOW TO KILL CIVILIANS IN THE NAME OF HUMAN RIGHTS

What is most alarming about the allegations by the HRW, ICG and AI is that thanks to their actions, the Tamil Tiger Terrorists have violated human rights and committed atrocities by the thousands. The late Mr. Michael Radu of the Foreign Policy Research Institute says: “The latter (Western donors), as usual, are themselves “sensitive” to the enormously effective, and wealthy, pro-LTTE Tamil diaspora and the international “human rights” lobbies-such as AI and HRW. How can we get the above true facts published by you?

You said ‘the International Crisis Group released a report charging that the government was mostly responsible for the allegedly unnecessary deaths of some 10,000 civilians caught in the crossfire between soldiers and the LTTE. Fonseka’s statement added fuel to the fire’. This unverified data and allegations that the government was mostly responsible for the allegedly unnecessary deaths came from the Tamil Tigers who are well represented by ICG executives and Board!!! Examples are plenty and I listed a few below.

The terrorist Web site Tamilnet was one of the first to fabricate and release outrageous allegations, including doctored photographs of civilians attacked by artillery. Other media orgs quickly ran with the story paying no attention to veracity of the information. The same stories were fed to the US State Dept., US Mission to the UN and the UN Human Rights Commissioner. This was great business for human rights groups and a headache for those fighting terror.

Louise Arbour, the President & Chief Executive Officer of ICG made a career attacking Sri Lanka and avoided criticizing the Tamil expatriates and their western partners for funding major atrocities on the island. Where did all the weapons and funds for the terrorists come from? Who provided bases all over the world for these terrorists? The international LTTE is fully functional today. When will those activities be investigated by an independent inquiry? What credibility does Louise Arbour at ICG really have?

ICG Board member Kofi Annan as former Secretary-General of the United Nations released condolence messages for the death of Tamil terrorists! What better way to support the LTTE? Recently, he and another LTTE supporter and ‘Elder’ Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa severely criticized SL while ignoring the atrocities committed by Tamils. The Tamil terrorists got plenty of mileage from their statements. The same Archbishop Tutu praised the Tamil terrorists for their commitment to the failed Cease-Fire Agreement while the terrorists were openly violating it countless number of times!!! The very same Archbishop campaigned strongly to oust Sri Lanka from the Human Rights Council on the behest of the LTTE in 2008 while a Tamil named Navi Pillay from LTTE base in South Africa became the UN Human Rights Commissioner. That Tamil HR Commissioner went onto falsely accuse SL of human rights violations against the Tamil terrorists and the media failed to highlight the obvious conflict of interest and their association to terrorists! All we ask is just connect the dots.

ICG Board member Gareth Evans is well known to be an advocate for LTTE separatism & ethnic cleansing and has criticized the SL govt. severely for trying to end the terror war and fighting the Tamil terrorists, well before this report. It is commonly known that such bias has always existed among ICG Board members.

As you can see, their recent report is no surprise to anyone who is familiar with their dark alliances. The ICG itself is funded by various Belgium and other entities that have always been sympathetic to the LTTE terrorists. The Tamil Tigers maintain a vibrant fundraising and political base in Belgium that influences the Belgium govt.

I hope you can see that ICG attacking SL is like the drug dealer attacking law enforcement for fighting drugs on the street!

So easy to blame a small democracy
Impossible to blame the ‘international community’ that support and finance the Tamil terrorists!
