The news of erecting a statue for S. Thamilchelvam, one of the leaders of “the deadliest terrorist group in the world” (FBI), in La Courneuve, France, where there is a large concentration of Tamils, is an insult to the human rights values espoused so pompously by France, particularly in dealing with countries like Sri Lanka. Thamilchelvam was the barber who instead of cutting hair turned into a ruthless cutter of Tamil throats.
He was the final authority in deciding whose under aged children should be forcibly dragged into the futile war of the Tamil Tiger terrorists.
He was he right hand man of Vellupillai Prabhakaran — the Tiger terrorist leader who ordered the shooting of Tamil civilians fleeing the from his grip in the last days of the war. To erect a statue for him in France — of all places in the West — is a mockery of all the values that Europeans preach to others.
Besides, France is in the process of ethnically cleansing the Romanians, the gypsies, banning the headgear worn by Muslim women, and ordering immigrants to fall in line with the French way of life and culture. In Sri Lanka the government is supplying the head gear free to the Muslims.
Franceis also waging a war against terrorists, especially of the Muslims variety. So why is France preparing to celebrate the terrorist cult of the Tamils? Will France allow the Muslims to erect a stature of Osama Bin Ladin in any city? Erecting statues of Tamil terrorists (France is one of the European countries that banned the Tamil Tigers) and banning even the Muslim headscarf exposes France as a moral pariah with unacceptable double standards.
One fitting reply to France if it goes ahead with it is to erect a statue of Bin Ladin right in front of the French embassy in Colombo as reminder to their obscene hypocrisy. The plaque should read: LONG LIVE BIN LADiN IN FRANCE!
This should also stand as a reminder to other Western embassies whose double standards on terrorism stinks to high heaven.

Great idea, but rather than erect a statue of Bin Laden in front of the French Embassy in Colombo, I suggest we should erect a large picture of Bin Laden in front of the French Embassy gates in Colombo.
