In a leaked internal memo on the 20^th of August 2009, Norway’s deputy ambassador Mona Juul targeted Ban and exposed his qualities unequivocally.

He was ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-spineless,ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-charmless,ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ and helplessly, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-incapableƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ of getting anything done, reported Mona to her Bosses in the UD.

Memo under question itself was conveniently leaked prior to BanƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s planned arrival in Oslo, and its timing strategically calculated by the conspirers.

Ban cancelled the schedule trip to Oslo subsequent to the leak! He recognised the implications of the leak and the message was not lost on him. That under no circumstances would the Nobel Committee consider awarding him with a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”Nobel peace PrizeƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 

Ban should have done his homework. He hadnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t obeyed Norsk UDƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s injunctions more adroitly, unlike the earlier Uncle Tom Kofi Annan ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ who executed all of UDƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s biddings to the letter, when he occupied the top spot at the UN.

In fact when Kofi was running the UN ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ he has not produced any impressive results either. Indeed we find as UN’s secretary general as soon as he landed in Colombo airport was in a mighty rush to dash to the bush and shake hands with the mass murderer, Velupillai Prabhakaran.

Annan was well aware that he was keen to meet a killer of mammoth proportions unlike the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”rebelƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ Bin laden who was Lilliput by comparison.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  This mass murderer assassinated Rajiv Gandhi the then Prime Minster of India and President Ranasinghe Premadasa of Sri Lanka among thousands of others. That was KoffiƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s way of upholding the noble ideals of the UN Charter. In other words he followed the instructions ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  UD to the letter. For that act he certainly deserved the Nobel ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”War PriceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ oops I mean the one for that of peace and he got one from Norsk UD for adroitly fulfilling ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ its injunctions, unlike this fickle Ban.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Juul Self-servingly wrote, “Ban has consistently chosen special representatives and leaders in the Secretariat who donƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t distinguish themselves, except in the case of Afghanistan” which for the uninformed was a Norwegian; Kai Eide and naturally ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”theƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ exception. But then Juul did not praise her husband, USG Terje Roed Larsen either, for that would be stretching the readerƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s imagination to the utter limits. Indeed the pair ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”Mona Jueel and Terje Roed LarsenƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ were popularly termed ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-The Bonnie and ClydeƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ of the UN for their mode of shooting from the hip, oops, I mean from the mouth, at the UN.

Among other things she brazenly pointed out was:

ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Another example of weak handling from the Secretary-GeneralƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s side is the war in Sri Lanka. The Secretary-General was a powerless observer to civilians in their thousands losing their lives and being driven from their homes. The authorities in Colombo refused to receive the Secretary-General while the war was going on, but he was an honoured guest — and he accepted the invitation — once the war had been ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-won.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ She studiously left out a vital detail from the readers, that of UD role as the main financer of LTTE terrorists in Lanka. Besides Ban at that historical juncture, did not wish to cross China and Russia more overtly as his position as UNGS depended on these two super powers. In fact Mona was striving to get Ban to pull the chestnuts out of the fire for her bosses in the UD. They wanted the war on terrorists halted in Sri Lanka at that critical point or they would lose face completely with the terrorists not to say loose the terrorists altogether. Indeed they were forced to helplessly stand by as their favoured terrorists were decimated systematically by the GOSL. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 

Did Ban have any power to stop that war on terror in Lanka? Indeed we find Mona was asking Ban to do a job extraneous to his mandate!

Juul fumed that Secretary-General was ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-lacking in charisma, which is not compensated for by the high profile and visible colleagues. Ban has consistently chosen special representatives and leaders in the Secretariat who do not distinguish themselves, except in the case of Afghanistan (read Norwegian) representative. He likes to be centrepiece himself, without competition from his colleagues, and let it shine through pretty clearly that commenting to the media is a privilege belonging sourly to him-self.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

In fact Mona should have known better!ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  All such innuendo could have been bypassed if he was awarded the Nobel peace Prize, which would have automatically converted him into another stooge, just as the earlier Uncle Toms Kofi Annan and Desmond Tutu. Note Obama was awarded this ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”war priceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢, and ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ he is at war in Libya, Afghanistan, and Iraq, and soon perhaps in Pakistan, thatƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s how effective this Nobel ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ peace Prize is!

That was water under the bridge, but by 2010 we find this spineless Ban asserting and showing his claws more doggedly.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ BanƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s antics in nepotism are legendary in the UN. His son in law Siddath Chatterjee, was given a promotion by another SRSG Staffan de Mistura, in May and obtained an even higher position with the UN Office of Project Services in Copenhagen, reports the Inner City Press. Well what are the fathers in laws for, if a simple thing such as that cannot be achieved by pulling a few odd strings? Again, when Inner City Press on July 31 questioned Ban’s envoy Alan Doss’ concerning the hiring of his daughter, Mr. Ban’s Spokesperson’s Office repeatedly directed all such questions to UNDP.

In fact if Moon really wanted to set up any committee with teeth, he should have set one up on nepotism, his nepotism! He certainly has a mandate for that.

The world at large was amused by the antics of Ban, Juul, or for that matter that Tamil Navanethem Pillay UN High Commissioner for Human Rights

A known LTTE terrorist sympathiser and probably a charter member of the LTTE. Did we hear commissions for the Iraqi War Crimes, Afghani killings or currently Libya bombings?

In fact by early 2011 Ban realised that if he wants to make an omelette he need to break a few eggs. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In other words if he was get some marks from the neo colonial meddlers he has to interfere in a backward ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”one horse and cartƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ nation such as Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka may not have the wealth to buy over whole bureaucracies such as Norway, and buy positions in the UN such as LTTE Pillai, but it does some fancy footwork occasionally, which had helped Lanka to be on top of the heap in the past. So keep a sharp lookout for your job Ban!

Now the Secretary-GeneralƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s basic duties include attending sessions of UN bodies; consulting with world leaders, governments and others; and carrying out country visits to meet with people, stay informed on issues and report on various conditions. The Secretary-General issues an annual report on the work of the UN, which appraises its activities and outlines future priorities. He/She is also Chairman of the Administrative Committee on Coordination (ACC), which brings together the Executive Heads of all UN funds, programmes and specialized agencies twice a year to coordinate the spectrum of substantive and management issues facing the UN system. All these are ridden with nepotism cronyism and catchers of friends and relatives and other hangers on. ThatƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s where we need panels, and not ones to harass member nations of UN.

Presently UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon arrogating himself as the guardian of human rights where as UNSG has no known mandate from the UN. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He knows that very soon his seat will be up for grabs and striving to promote himself for a second term as UNSG.

Rumours mill had it that by 2006 that people in Washington was referring to Ban as ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-a one-term SGƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚. But by his actions of creating a panel of puppets to assess Sri Lanka War crimes, Norway and their EU acolytes would not hinder his re-election, after all he has done their dirty work by floating this panel.

A Reuter news report emerging recently from Russia revealed that the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon expressed hope that Russia would support him for a potential second term as the next UNSG.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Would they vote for such spineless nincompoop, if so they must get their heads examined?

And is it IndiaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s interest to destabilise Sri Lanka by voting for this slimy, fickle character by giving him another term as UNSG?

Will China, a good friend of Sri Lanka, vote for this character who is legendary for indecisiveness and fickleness? I have grave doubts!

Then on 6^th May 2011 the world at large received the shocking news. That rebel Osma Bib Larden who fought in AllahƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s name has been murdered. Not the way Obama presented it. This rebel was murdered in a most unethical manner.

Indeed Osama Bin LadenƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s daughter claimed her father was captured alive by US forces and subsequently executed in front of her.

Al-Arabiya, citing Pakistani security officials, reported that the 12-year-old daughter of Bin Laden saw her father executed after been captured and then dragged aboard a helicopter.

The official allegedly rejected any notion of a firefight which took place.

ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Not a single bullet was fired from the compound at the US forces and their choppers. Their chopper developed some technical fault and crashed and the wreckage was left on the spot,ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ the official told Al-Arabiya.

With all of this was going on we hear another bizarre news from the Island on 6^th of May.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It informs:

Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said, in an exclusive interview with The Island on Thursday (5), that Assistant Secretary of State Robert Blake hadnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t come across any Tamil speaking civilians wanting to have Sri Lanka investigated for war crimes during his visit to former LTTE strongholds at Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi on May 3.

You can take Mr Gotabhaya for a ride Mr Blake but not all the people of this fair Island. For the people of this country will soon demand a panel from the yellow Backboneless Ban Ki Moon to investigate the murder of a sleeping defenceless rebel and how he was murdered in cold blood in front of his 12-year-old daughter.

In fact Ban has begun to exploit Sri Lanka and make Lanka a scapegoat to achieve his personal ambitions. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ A major boo boo he would soon realise! Sri Lanka is not a Bosnia or an East Timor.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Secretary General of the UNO according to the UN Charter we has no mandate to act independently without the authority of the Assembly General of the UNO or its Security Council. This ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”Advisory PanelƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ is strictly a private document prepared to pacify UD of Norway and get another shot at S.GƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s job. We should see to that he never get the UNSGƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s job back.

Sri Lanka should start now and use its good officers find a candidate for this top spot on the UN. I propose Palitha Kohana who is a wise, fair, well cultivated, and a modest candidate and whatƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s more owning a backbone unlike Ban. Start promoting him as the next UNSG.

Mahinda Rajapakse should remember that many of our diplomats are incapable and are bought over by western powers. President Rajapakse did not act in time earlier and get the necessary advice from the knowledgeable people. He should at least now act, so Lanka would not miss this unique opportunity. He should start canvassing now using his popularity to get our man appointed.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It is high time we drop this ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”do nothing at allƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ policy and do something or we would regret it for decades to come! ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
