Channel 4 Documentary on Sri Lanka a serious accusation of criminal negligence of International Community to help Sri Lanka stop terrorism .

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Channel 4 has made a costly Documentary ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Killing FieldsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ which was diffused on the 14 June,2011, for which I am sure the Tamil Diaspora theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ followers of the Terrorist Prabhakaran who wants to fulfill his dream of creating a separate Eelam State in Sri Lank, has amply paid.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The diaspora Tamils played their part in it and perhaps are satisfied that it was worth theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ moneyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ they paid.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But to the non Sri Lankan British viewers, it may have been too horrifying.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The very terrorist sympathetic ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ commentators did the mind washing by focusing only on theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sri Lanka Armed Forces as the villain out to kill as many Tamil Civilians as possible.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ That may have given the impression to the non-Sri Lankan British viewersƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ that there were no terrorists as such, but the government armed forces were massacring the freedom fighters. That is what ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the Channel 4 in fact expected.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ At one stageƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ when they showed an exodus of Tamil Civilians in Kilinochchi. The commentator says that all civilians indistinguishable from Tamil tigers were deliberatelyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ fired at by the government forcesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and when the civilians fled the government forces followed them.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ That would have made the uninformed viewers jump from their chairs in horror, if they believed the commentators.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ At the beginning the presenter of the DocumentaryƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ spoke of devastating evidenceƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ against the Sri Lanka Armed forces to bring the guiltyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ of the crimes to justice.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But the images themselves did not showƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚«ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ damningƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ evidenceƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚» it promised. But far from being evidence it consisted of disconnected images, from different periods of the 30 year old terrorism, and only the presenter spoke of the author of the atrocities as the Armed Forces, without any visual proof of the Armed Forces directly committing the offences.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ They were undoubtedly those committed by the terrorists beingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ attributed to the armed forces.
No war is clean .ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Perhaps more so a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-warƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ against terrorism.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ We saw some of the imagesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ but not all ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ them of the capture of Osama bi Laden ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ by the USA Special ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Force. The Daily Telegraph reported that Osama bin Laden was captured alive by US forces but shot him dead in front of family members, according to his daughter.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The images were not shown , was that toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ hide ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the brutality of the wayƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Bin Laden was killedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
The images of the massacred bodiesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ by Channel 4 only show that horrible aspect of any war.
Those images shown by the Channel 4 by themselves do notƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ provide any devastating evidence to accuse the Government Forces, other than shock the Viewers of the images to the reality of any ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚«ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ warƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚» .ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Channel 4 in trying to cast the responsibility of such horrible ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚«ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ imagesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚» to the Government forces, knowing very well the ruthlessness and disrespect to lifeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ shown by the Tamil tiger terrorists is a deliberate attempt to accuse the Government Forces, for a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-warƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ it did not seek , but of which they were trying to see the end.
It is immoral and unethical on the part of any journalism, let alone the Channel 4,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to accuse Government Forces which was doing its duty to protect its people and the country, without any acceptable evidence, that all the massacres were caused by the Armed Forces . The Channel 4 is well known for its immoral and unethical code ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ reporting toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ satisfy ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ their own planned intentions, no matter how the report is presented.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ There was no doubt that the target of the film was the President who the presenter spoke of as the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ repressive President.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The British (non Sri Lankan) viewers should knowƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ that the so calledƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ repressiveƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ President of Sri Lanka is not repressive as Obama, Cameron and Sarkozy who are carrying on an illegal war in Libya, in addition to those in Iraq, and Afghanistan out side their own countries putting into risk the lives of their own young soldiers.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Because, the Sri Lanka President who was elected by a vast majority of people in a very British style Democratic System, was only determined to end a ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ruthless terrorism that had been going on for nearly 28 years without no body being able to stop the terrorists, who were supported by the International Community.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is his determination to end for good the cancer of terrorism that was pressing in his mind when he was elected the President of Sri Lanka, and that determination of the Sri Lanka President was deliberately interpretedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ by the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ vindictive presenter of the Channel 4 document, as being repressive.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In that respect the blame for all those horrifying incidents the Channel 4 presentedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ on the 14thƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ June, 2011, should go to the International community more than to the Government Forces.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But the last phase of the military operations against the terroristsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ wasƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ made an ideal occasion to point the finger of accusation at the Government Armed Forces andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ disengage the responsibility of the International Community to that ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-brutalƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ climax,.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ There were no eye witnesses to accuse the terrorists who were shooting ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-left and rightƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ caring less who gets killed from the midst of the panickyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ civilians, and the winningƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Armed Forces were made to take the whole of the responsibility.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is easy for any one to make a Documentary film ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ taking images from numerous video footingsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ available in the Internet, showing images of massacres by the terrorists through out their 30 years of terror campaign and ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ mix the images to make the Documentary and show it asƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ imagesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ of the last phase of the military offensive against the terrorists after 2008, in which the Armed forces ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ according to the presenter were fighting an uneven war.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Channel 4 follows the Ban Ki MoonƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Panel report which reduced the period of investigation of violations of human rights by the government forces for the last phase ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ military operations for the elimination of terrorism , ignoring the 28 or soƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ yearsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ unchecked terrorism by the LTTE terrorists, who during whole of that of period had the upper-handƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ loudly ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ voiced ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚«ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ unevenƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚» war of terror was then on the other foot.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The terrorism in Sri Lanka cannot be restricted to the final stages of the military operations to eliminate terrorism, because the terrorism continued for a long period of 30 years.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ If the International Community ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ had intervened to help the government to bring about a peace settlement at the outset of terrorism, the unfortunate deaths and massacres ChannelƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ had arranged to put together would not have taken place during the last phase of the military operations against the terrorists.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Therefore, the Channel 4 DocumentaryƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ becomes by thoughtful ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ interpretationƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a serious accusation for criminal negligence by the Internal Community by leaving a developing Nation without recourse to settle terrorism within its own territory by aƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-friendlyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ intervention of the International Community.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Only member of the International Community Norway who through Eric Solheim came to play the role of an intermediary later turned out to be a sympathizer of the terrorists.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Under cover of a Monitoring Mission instead of seeking to settle terrorism Eric Solheim enabled terrorists to acquire arms and ammunition, and communication material. Later ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ he negotiated with the terrorists to enter into a CFA with the Government by which he strengthened the arms of the terrorists assigning ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ territories under their control.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Members of the International Community had direct Communication with the terrorists, with their respective ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Government Representatives or Ambassadors visiting them directly in Killinochchi, sometimes even without consulting the Sri Lanka Government.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The peace negotiations the Norwegians arranged in foreign countries became a farce, the representatives of the terrorists making it an occasion toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ meet with Arms Dealers in Europe and purchase highly sophisticated military equipment , and even purchase planes and Cargo Ships.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ That was the stage that the International Community which had very close relationship with the terrorists could have settled terrorism for good through negotiation, but they just did the opposite strengthening the terrorist armed forces, making them partnersƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in what as the Channel 4 said ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- an uneven warƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ with the government which was then very ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚poorlyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ equipped with out datedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ military equipment.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Ban Ki Moon Panel, the American State Department, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and all foreign Human Rights Activists who point their fingers at the Sri Lanka Armed Forces todayƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ for violation of human rights and threatening to take them before a Criminal court for war crimes are equally responsible for the debacle at the final phase of the military operations against terrorists .ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ They cannot now escape from that responsibility showing images presumed to have been taken during the final phase of the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-warƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It seems to me that this Channel 4 documentary had been sponsored by the International Community to save their skin from being accused for serious neglect of duty of the member States of the UNO to have failed toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ come to the rescue of another member StateƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ under ruthless terrorism.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ What are ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-friendsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ for, if they are not there when they are needed ?
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ During that 30 years the terrorists massacred innocent persons, the men women and children in border villages.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ They massacred people in crowded market places, they blasted bombs inside buses, trains and at different functions where people had assembled.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Then they used grenade lobbers, pistol gangs, Snipers, andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ human suicide bombs to kill, innocent men, women and children, Government Officials, police officers, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ parliamentarians , ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Presidents, Ministers, even a Prime Minister of India, and wound a President, and an Army Commander.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In the Channel 4 ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ documentary , the narratorƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ speaking angrily said ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the relentless war of the Armed Forces begun in 2008 was an uneven war ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ with the Government Army beingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ heavily armed . Yes it was apparently seen asƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ an uneven war only at the last phase of the military operations, but the Armed Forces found large quantitiesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ of Military arms and ammunitions , underwater submarines, home made bombs, large stocks of claymore bombs, explosives, underground homes.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But then at that last phase of the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-warƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ the terrorists had not the numbers necessary to carry out offensive action despite the large quantitiesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ of material that wereƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in their possession.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The terrorists then resorted to planting their heavy artillery amoung the people using them as a human shield and shot at every thing that moved.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The terrorist were fighting a losing war, and they will have no one to answer, and probably knew the larger the number of civiliansƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ are killed it is likely that the blame will go to the army that would remain after them.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Prabhakaran was a very cunning man and knew even at the end how to put the responsibility of massacres to the Armed Forces, and get posthumous sympathy from some quarter. He may then have ordered to shoot at civilians , hospitals, schools and their own weak feeble women cadre,( perhaps not wanting them killed by the Armed Forces, but more to put the blame on ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the Armed Forces).
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is interesting to understand the cunningness both by Ban Ki MoonƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢sƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Panel andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ following it Channel 4 to select the last phase of the eliminationƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ terrorismƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ present ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- devastating evidenceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ against an uneven war that had been conducted by theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ heavily armedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sri Lanka armed forces.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Why ?
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The answer is simple, if the past nearly 28 ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ years of the massacres and violation of human rights were to be taken into account the terrorists had breached all norms of human rights ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ that even ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the Norwegian Eric Solheim and the Monitoring MissionƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ though heavily sympathetic towards the terroristsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ would not deny. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And the accusation of crimes against humanity would ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ have fallen heavily on the terrorist Prabhakaran and his murderous gang of terrorists, banned in 35 or more countries.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And hence there would notƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ have beenƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ any difficulty of finding evidence against the terrorists in every murder of politicians, innocent men, women and children, killing of 600 police officers,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a bus full of 35 young Buddhist monks and their Chief Priest, and all the rest of the numerous massacres, seriously wounding a President and a Army Commander.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But if the investigation of violation of human rights and massacres of civilians is restricted to the last phase of the military offensive, the number of the terrorists had dwindled and it would therefore be more convenient and easy to accuse the Armed Forces for the killings as eye witnesses are not there, other than those who think who may have done the shooting.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It was evident in the Chanel Documentary, they had even invented a witness.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ A woman Vany Kumar who claims she had come to visit her relatives and ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ was displaced amoung the exodus of Civilians running away from Vanni. But she does not present her relatives with whom she had escaped, and she is supposed to have helped the Doctors in a hospital which she says was shelled by the Armed Forces, but she had not ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-seenƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ but nevertheless she says so. Is that evidence ?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ She was shown in a pink dress once seemingly amoung the wounded not with a shocked and a sad face , but often shown answering questions posed to her not as some one who had gone through that horrible phase of war.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Half naked dead bodies of women were dumped into a truckƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ by men making rude remarks but no actual rape seemed to have taken place.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ There were not even reasonableƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ evidence of rape.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ A man tied to a tree had been tortured, we see him tied to the tree, we see him wounded , then we see him dead, but we do not see the criminal in the act of torture or killing the man. There is no evidence of killing.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ There are many instancesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ that suggest probable evidenceƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ but there was no acceptable evidence thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ make a party responsible for the act.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Are these the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-devastating evidenceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ on which the Channel 4 suggest to bring those who are guilty ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ of crimes to justice pointing the finger directly at the Armed Forces ?
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ I could continue to comment on the Images taken by Gorden Weiss and his incompetent remark, thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the UN Officials were asked to quit the area asƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the Armed Forces did notƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ want to have International Witnesses for what they were planning to do.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ His reasoning was an absurdity, taking himself to be a sort of an angel that had been sent by the God to save the people in Vanni, but turned away by the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Satanic forces.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ One can imagine now what would have happened if any one of them were killed by a terrorists.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The International Community would have put the blame on the government forces and USA would have sent their marines and helicopters to evacuate their personnel and the terrorist leaders in the melee.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Leave the rest for perhaps a later date.

We have forgetton what roll Jeffrey Lunstead played(former US ambasador) ; I hpoe not, he did better things than Soldhime. He personally dismentaled a parcilly installed large electrical transformer that was give by USAID to be connected to the national grid and sent it directly to Killinochchi. When asked why is he doing it? He replyed by saying RANIL wanted so. After the cease fire was over the engineers who did the dismantling told this story to the news media. Now why are these people against Sinhala majority, no one knows. All Tamil Nadu TV stations are going to show this Channel 4 documentary as a true story. Jayalalitha has requested that every Tamil Nadu Tamil MUST see this true story!!

I am concerned of Jayalalitha who is anti srilankan
She is against Congress I , she supports BJP and a very influential person among opposition parties
She is fluent in Hindi unlike Karunanithi. At one time she formed 3rd party in national politics also along with communist party of India
TNadu got 40 parliament seats and I am sure Indira Congress is very much concerned due to their very terrible loss in the TNadu elections ( They only got 4 seats lowest ever in History )
I honetly do not believe India will help Srilanka like Russia or China because of change in TNadu Elections

Jimmy Said “I honetly do not believe India will help Srilanka like Russia or China because of change in TNadu Elections” which is quite a reasonable assumption. However, it should be noted that the Central Govt is now walking on a tight rope with regards to TN and Sri Lanka – a position they got into due to a fatal mistake in foreign policy of the Indira Gandhi Govt to force the then UNP Govt of JRJ to submission by promoting terrorist activity in Sri Lanka. Obviously they cannot now let go of the tiger’s tail and it appears they have now realized mistakes of the past. It may be perhaps a bit too late for India as the break up of TN from the Central Govt will happen sooner rather than later and this is what the West wanted to happen in the first place – to make the growing Indian economy more manageable by the West. There is no doubt that the problems in Sri Lanka is just ‘co-lateral damage’ caused by the Wests desire to break up India. As Bill Clinton once said, it’s the economy (and power and wealth at the expense of others), stupid!

Charles, thank you for the thoughts but we should NOT stop here. The utter need of the moment is to take it up with Ofcom (www.ofcom.org.uk/) the Broadcast regulator who contols what should NOT go on air on CH4 and a case made against CH4 to Ofcom aseeking the imosition of a penalty, retraction and apology to the people of Sri Lanka and an a prohibition from ever re-broadcasting the program. – London

Excellent analysis, Charles. I did not see in this film, sny questioning of this lady lab assistant how she escaped with life after being in a hospital that was shelled times. Nor did I see starvation – did the food arrive at the door step despite Sri Laka’s government intention to starve them or from the Sri Lanka’s government acting with donor sources. Who paid the LTTE doctor’s salary – by the government orby LTTE funds.
THat ladt would be ina position to explain how did they operated the cameras, who provided electricity, diesel for generators. Who was running the control centre tobomb Colombo, set off the bomb in the moasque in Akuressa, bombs in Thanamalvila, Dehivala, further bomb build up in suburbs of Colombo.
CHANNEL4 HAD ALL THE OPPORTUNITIES TO MAKE A REAL INVESTIGATION AND BEING THE FOOLS OR KNAVES THEY FLUFFED THE OPPORTUNITY.

Thank God Sri Lanka wiped out the great evil that was the LTTE. I am pretty sure the footage that was shown on Ch.4 was a group of unfortunate Sinhalese Soldiers who were captured by the LTTE then executed then the Ch.4 Dr Goebbels department of propaganda got to work on it and turned it around to make it look like the it was the LTTE that was executed. We all know what the Evil LTTE does with prisoners. They never respected the Geneva conventions unlike the Sri Lankan soldiers. I have heard so many stories of LTTE killing prisoners in cold blood. They also filmed their gruesome actions. They are not called the most ruthless barbaric terrorist group for nothing. Unfortunately westerners brought up on western mainstream media propaganda will never get it unless they had lived in Sri Lanka for many years during the 80s, 90s and 2000s to understand how evil the LTTE were. Only a few bright western analysts like Webster Tarpley in the United States fully understood who and what the LTTE really were. Unfortunately most people in western countries arn’t as bright as Webster Tarpley so they will not understand the truth without extricating themselves from mainstream western news propaganda of which Ch.4 along with FOX News is one of the absolute worst offenders.
I am convinced this video is a doctored video. Very easy to do if your a good propaganda film maker.
I am glad Sri Lankans are coming out around the world to demolish Ch.4′s lies.

A documentary showing American army command was complicit in the killing of 3,000 prisoners who were separated out from the total of 8,000 POWs and transported to a prison compound in the town of Shibarghan, was aired in Germany in 2002. It was covered-up nicely by the West:
German TV aired documentary charging American war crimes in Afghanistan

Wonder if Channel-4 and its ltte cronies saw this.
