It was General Sir Patrick Howard Dobson later Military Secretary when Commandant of the British Army Staff College Camberley (1973) who said that if Goebbels had TV Germany may have won WW2. Having heard of the first but probably not the second, UKƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Goebbels 4 TV (G4 TV) is trying to prove that Goebbels the Nazi was right. It is too late to act about the second statement. G4TV is the lavishly funded propaganda arm of the GTF, the self appointed successors of the terrorist LTTE. The funds are from the blood money of poor Tamils in SL and black mailed Tamil refugees over seas.

End of terror. Goebbels killed his wife and 6 children and himself immediately after Hitler who first killed his 4 favourite dogs committed suicide with Eva Braun. So there is a world of difference in loyalty and commitment however misplaced between the Berlin bunker and murky Nandi Kadal supported by G4 TV who are feeding the dogs of war (GTF).

The Aftermath. No longer does SL fear a red sky in the nights and in the mornings. After having lost 100,000 citizens killed in 30 years, there are no tears for the LTTE or their supporters in SL. SL lost 7,000 troops in the last 3 years of its conflict. The combined total of troops of the IC killed fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan after over 10 years of war is 6,000. So what is G4 TV trying to prove?

Prudish manoeuvres of the G4. G4 TV while showing people dying on TV, a macabre business normally excluded for viewing by any TV group less G4, wishes to be seen as being prudish too. It covers up the private parts of the dead with ever so squeamish sensitivity while steaming alleged killings and rapes on TV right into peopleƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s homes at night! Goebbels could never ever have done better. The thrust of the G4TV is with Goebbelsian skill is to challenge the UN figure of 7,000 civilians killedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  in the final stages of the war and no reports of atrocities with a concocted figure of 40,000 and shocking atrocities allegedly committed by the SL forces. As Janaka Alahaperuma from UK says that is equal to the number of people in 50 full London rush hour tube trains and asks how could they be accommodated (with 300,000 more who escaped) in that small strip of land east of Landi Kotal lagoon as G4TV states and where were they buried?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 

Balancing trick. It also very coyly shows its ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”balanceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ by repeating what everyone has known for 3 decades that the worldƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s most reprehensible terrorist organization was also guilty of the same. There is no evidence to prove the former except for what is well known to be doctored videos about which later. Curiously Gordon Weiss formerly of the UN who latterly supported the view that 40,000 civilians were killed in the last 3 months of the conflict, admitted when challenged in Australia at the recent launching of his book on the conflict ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”The CageƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ that the total could mysteriously now be 10,000. Should he or G4TV be taken seriously?

Pound of flesh.G4TV however does not call on the SL government to investigate and punish those responsible as it should have if there have been proven transgressions but instead implores the International Community (IC) to take just three of SLƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s leaders to task circumvent the nuances of established law. That is its intention-to engage white eyes to turn the clock back and give the LTTE/GTF another chance to terrorise SL. The GTF like the LTTE, cynically and cleverly manoeuvred picked unsavoury politicians and media in the IC, knowing that mercenaries will fight under any evil, filthy, blood stained flag without any moral or legal restraint, albeit with prudish reluctance. G4 slippedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  up when it criticized the UNƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s BK Moon about a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”whistle stop’ visit to SL at the end of hostilities. Moon rejected and rebuffed it. For G4TV, Moon after all too does not belong to the white eyes club.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Surrender of LTTE Police (Gestapo) chief P Nadesan. Nadesan then a SL police sergeant and his Sinhala police woman wife are alleged to have supplied detailed sketches of the Jaffna Police station for the devastating LTTE attack on it in 1985.Both decamped to join the LTTE. He first fought with the LTTE cadres and was later appointed LTTE Police (Gestapo) chief which organized executions. G4 refers to him as an (innocent) civilian and says he died suddenly draped in a bed sheet!

Guilt of SLMM and the Norwegians and others (locals).SL knows those who promoted the surrender drama had blood guilt on their hands as they had close ties with the LTTE with little or no reservation to using the Norwegian Embassy to deceive the SL Government, the IC and its proxy the SLMM. One stunning example was the confusing declaration of the existence of a third party in uniform to explain an LTTE sea tiger attack on a foreign ship in the high seas. The JVP, that did not even own a fishing boat, had been conveniently named to impress the gullible IC.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  A former UN Peace Keeping Force commander visiting SL on invitation who had been misled deliberately by the SLMM and others naively conveyed this to his SL military friends. PM Ranil did not contradict him.

Versions of battle reports. It was US Defence AttachƒÆ’†’ƒ”š‚© Lt Col Lawrence SmithƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s remarks at the recently concluded Defence Symposium that short circuited the terrorist supporters here. Col Smith shot across Maj Gen (Retd) MehtaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s bows and said ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢we need to examine the credibility of those offers before we come to conclusionsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢. Military History- accounts of battle. It is well known that accounts of battle even by participants change after a few hours. The first foreign reports (two months later) of May 2009 were that these surrender dramas were eye witness accounts of media men. It is well known they would have been comfortably and wisely positioned some considerable distance behind assault troops. The informants were then hurriedly changed to be SL soldiers. They were supposedly in possession of mobile phones with cameras. They while fighting for their lives had allegedly turned out to be not only capable of assorted ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”war crimesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ but also possessors of excellent mobile phone/ video cameras who had the inclination, time and nerves to take photos of ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”war crimesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ legallyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  implicating themselves. They allegedly also had a mercenary habit of later passing along what material they had recorded to ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”LTTEƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ marketing directors /bribe givers/collection officers from the GTF. These were then circulated to foreign media to show how horrible things were. Many in the IC, faint hearted local politicians and NGOs were led to believe the LTTE was unstoppable. They accommodated it.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 

Mobile phone fable. It now appears from G4TV ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”channelsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ lavatorial night show presenters McRae and Snow that the incriminating scenes were ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”shotƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ by a unnamed ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”very senior army officerƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢. However did they think he would film ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢allegedƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ atrocities in which he himself would be found complicit being on the spot? The imagination of the GTF and their well paid supplicants G4 TV would have us believe it was so. What was the reason for G4, advised by ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”expert war crimes lawyersƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ not to implicate him in the alleged misdeeds too? Is it not obvious now?

Intention of G4 TV channel. The thrust of the presenters of the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”footageƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ aired on a G4 TV channel was that President Rajapakse, Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapakse and Maj Gen Shavendra de Silva only or mainly had to answer for alleged ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”war crimesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢. Coincidentally but not surprisingly this is the line of attack by the former army commander too. That is unremarkably also GTFƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s intention as it was the PresidentƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s unwavering decision to go to war that broke the 30 year stalemate and ended the reign of terror and nightmare of Eelam in SL. All the resources of the state were commandeered to support the forces to secure a victory hitherto believed by all Western and Indian ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”military expertsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ to be impossible. G4TV smoothly indicated that the soldiers who allegedly committed the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”crimesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ were not their targets as they realised that the country had united with a swell of nationalistic euphoria behind them. It in effect offered a carrot to SL citizens to betray their leaders. Some dream.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  No mention was made of the former Army Commander as though that man had ceased to exist. This was another attempt to separate the conflict leaders so that they could be taken out separately.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Spurt by Birt. A Burt a little known Brit MP jumped on to the stage. Eyeing the main chance to collect Tamil votes, he had the temerity to say that SL should respond soon or face the consequences that Britain has in store. SLƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”s thoughts went back to 1818 and 1915. This comes from a man who supported the launching of the criminal war in Iraq and is now supporting the daily day and night bombing and killing of inhabitants of Tripoli, not a desert base of the Al Qaida but the capital of Libya. The world even if it will be Oriental in future, will like to see who faces war crimes charges first, SL or the Bush Blair twins UK and USA with Birt in tow.

Is the Queen responsible for UK forces crimes? ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Logically it was as though if war crimes were to be levelled against the UK for acts in Iraq and Afghanistan the Queen as C in C would have to answer with her Defence Secretary. Would it mean that the UK Chief of General Staff and his commanders on the ground even though they are finally responsible for the conduct of their soldiers are not? In the British Army the oath of allegiance is to the Queen and the forces serve her and not the government. Yet in what way would the Queen ever be made to answer? If that was even suggested, the G4 TV team would be charged with treason.

Dreams of GTF. Issuing threats is the hallmark of a bully. The intention of this lot is very clear. They want to keep their paymasters GTF in the lime light but not because they want to help the Tamils in SL. GTF dreams they may have yet another chance to achieve ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”EelamƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢. They also want to create splits in SL society by exciting and letting loose those who did their best to thwart the SL forces victory pre 2009. These apparently do not wish to be called ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”traitorsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ so letƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s call them jackals instead.

ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”War without witnessesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢. According to the mouth piece of the GTF, G4 TV and its Haw Haws, SLƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s war was one without witnesses. Yet they admit that over 300,000 Tamils alone leave aside the nearly 150,000 soldiers and the public servants including doctors and Government Agents were present during the last stages of the conflict. They are not considered eye witnesses! Were they blind because they were dusky natives of SL? Is it only white eyes that can be called up as witnesses-conveniently well paid/bribed by the GTF? G4 insists that the absence of white eyes of the UN and such INGOs like the ICRC in the closing stages of the conflict was because SL did not want witnesses. Is it their inference then that what allegedly happened thereafter was deliberately planned by the highest authority in SL? They castigate the NFZ because this was something the IC, NATO, USA and UK never thought of. They go berserk on the so called ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”zero civilian casualtyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ policy.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Did the white eyes lot (UN etc) not vacate the free fire zones (FFZs) out of self interest? The sight of long standing UN officials, taken so cunningly, bugging out was ever so very moving but werenƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t they running off because the going got tough and the hard ship allowances were not worth the risk? Those who cried were doing so because their white eyes human shield was abandoning them to a fate they had deliberately chosen as camp followers if not comforters of the LTTE?

Why did the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”InquiryƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ report take over 20 years to surface? Were UN etc agencies present when the west criminally knocked the stuffing out of the Iraqis? The G4 channels of old did not carry visuals of Brits obliterating Tanuf near Nizwa with incessant RAF Hawker Hunter and Shackelton aircraft bombing raids in Oman in the 1960s.In fact the whole Oman insurgency which officially lasted until 1985 was hidden not from the world but from the British public too, like most of the Mau Mau rebellion in Kenya. Why? SL can recall the scorched earth policy of the colonial Brits in 1818 to suppress the Uva rebellion in Wellassa. Did SL not have many such embedded people, but non white eyes, present in the Wanni from so many local TV Channels? What the IC wanted were white eyes only. Black eyes from the 3^rd world were never tolerated anywhere that the white eyes were fighting.

False witnesses. Siri Hewavitharne, Executive Director CATV systems Australia an expert on the subject after careful analysis says that the G4 videos were concocted. So has G4TV shown false images? Or is it that SL witnesses however qualified are not acceptable to their clownish tie strangled haw-haw lordships of G4? Who believed what was sent? Who was the sender? Was it G4 that circulated them before changing sides once money in container loads became available? Who knows?

It is worthwhile to remember that ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”enemyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ carrying ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”white flagsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢, the universal symbol of surrender have time and again in battle used it invariably too late in the day in order to save themselves to deceive their opponents, conceal real intentions and launch surprise counter attacks, inflicting hundreds of casualties. They have sometimes turned an apparent defeat into victory. SL troops had been victims of such subterfuge for 30 years and paid for it dearly including the devastating suicide attack while Tamil IDPs were being screened by the troops. They would not risk repetition this time knowing that they were dealing with a group that had made treachery its calling card. Is there any reason then for SL to believe the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”footageƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ of G4 TV that is paid for by GTF except that they were by white eyes? These were the same white eyes that produced WDMs in Iraq that fooled the same UN. So who should believe G4TV this time? G4TV said that the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”refugees were ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”starvedƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ too. Obviously they had not looked at the very video they screened that showed extremely well fed ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”refugeesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ about an inch or taller and at lest 10 pounds heavier than the soldiers who were caring for them other than very old people who were not so robust.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Accepting surrender offers. Troops will accept an offer of surrender only if they are sure of the bona fides of those offering to ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”surrenderƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢, not simply because the enemy carries or shows a white flag but based on their acceptance of the intentions of the enemy even if he was running away. The LTTE refused to surrender to the SL forces and wanted the Norwegians or any white eyes to save them. Was the SL army wise in not accepting them this time?

Treachery (bogus surrender offers) dealt with. When Allied troops cornered Germans in an open field in Normandy in WW2 the Germans came out with white flags only to have those behind them open fire on the Allies. After the first incident the Allies knew how exactly to deal with German offers to surrender. In Sicily when some Italians in a pill box from where they had been firing at the British thought better of it and showed a white flag the Brits ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”tickled ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…” them with a few bursts of a machine gun. The Italians jumped back into the pill box and fired back. They were not taken prisoner. Does G4 want to know why?

Surrenders accepted. When General von Friedberg C in C German Navy and Gen Kinzel on behalf of FM Keitel and Admiral Doenitz who had taken over after Hitler committed suicide came out to Luneburg Heath in the Westphalia Plain to surrender all the German forces in the British Sector to General Montgomery on 3 May 45 their offer was accepted. Why? Should the SF forces accepted the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”offersƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ made by every Tomilchelvan, Dickaran or Harendran? Or even Nadesan? Did the LTTE have just one man in a position of authority that could be trusted to offer peace terms without reneging on them? If so can the GTF name him even now to satisfy the G4TV war crimes lawyers? The trio of Panchikawatte, Grandpass and Thoppigala could possibly help. Interestingly the US Attorney General (AG)hadƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  stated that had Al Qaida leader Osama Bin Laden even offered to surrender it was unlikely it would have made any difference to what happened in Kakul Pakistan that day in May 2011. SLƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s AG would never say anything like that.

Massacre of SL captives. G4 must have forgotten LTTE massacres of SL troops after capture. No army in the world will accept surrender only on the basis of a white flag or cloth or bed sheet being proffered when the act itself is suspect, especially when the people concerned had massacred every single captive taken in 30 years of conflict. G4TV moralising on the norms of surrendering has to be a sick joke when applied to the LTTE. There was an eye witness of the LTTE massacre of 30 SL POWs at the tail end of the war (May 2009) who in a Canadian court (May 2011) admitted he was a member of an LTTE ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”execution squadƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ but did not fire personally! Did G4TV believe him? Was the LTTE execution squad at work used to show the perpetrators as the SL Army? Such cunning, diabolical propaganda gimmicks were motherƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s milk to the LTTE. When they fought from inside the Jaffna hospital (1987) they showed that the IPKF was responsible for firing into the hospital. A total of nearly 1,000 captured SL troops were executed in the very same Mullativu and over 500 in the Pooneryn battle. They were SOPs for the LTTE that even an illiterate must know. There was also the murder of 600 policemen ordered to surrender by the government on a under taking of safe conduct to Ampara made by the LTTE while peace talks were in progress.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Does G4TV say the LTTE could ever be trusted? Have SL citizens forgotten how the LTTE after the massacre of worshippers at the Sri Maha Bodhi at Anuradhapura abducted unarmed policemen. While travelling in a van to Wilpattu they kept stabbing them until they all died ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…”in order to practice stabbing Sinhalese! Is some one crying over what happened to the LTTE? Are Nazi ghosts active in the UK?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Do people forget what happened to Special Forces soldiers that were captured after an ambush in the East during Eelam 2? They were tied to trees and had their eyes plucked.

Well known massacres. During civil wars massacres were the norm as in the American (over one million died) and British Civil wars. In the former the Southerners now mainly Democrats shot all Blacks captured. Would G4 care as the killers were not black? In Kenya many Mau Mau suspects were shot albeit mainly by white settlers in the reserve forces but this info was hidden from the British public. In BritainƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s civil war the massacre at Bolton (May 1644) Drogheda and Ulster (the estimates were from 16,000 to 200,000 killed) were the worst. India and Pakistan prefer not to remember the massacres at partition in 1947 when nearly a million died.

Surrender offers. Who accepts surrender offers said to be made on behalf of the enemy? Rudolf Hess flew 900 miles from Berlin to Scotland with a peace offer during WW2? Hitler condemned him as a traitor (jackal?) The Brits imprisoned him. Hostages. The situation in the Wanni at the close of the conflict appears to have been completely forgotten by the scavenging GTF channels/LTTE supporters. It should be remembered that the LTTE was holding over 300,000 Tamils hostage, not including captured SL servicemen and black mailed MPs of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA). The LTTE used the hostages in a unique way that no other armed group or terrorists with any semblance of a code of honour would ever have done. The Russians dealt with hostage situations in Breslan and Moscow in an extra ordinary way.

Death wish. The LTTE leader had vowed he would die fighting. What people had forgotten was that he also said that if his goal of ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”EelamƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ was not possible it was better for all the Tamils to die. He tried hard to ensure his ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”visionƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ was put into practice.

Human Shields. The LTTE were surrounded, protected and concealed by compulsorily drafted ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”human shieldsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢. Those who formed the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”shieldsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ had been forced by brute and wanton use of force including murder to provide human cover. Thousands of Tamils were shot at and killed when they attempted to escape including in one case a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”RosaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ bus load of 42 crippled ex combatant Tamil girls as stated by Kumaran from PKP and corroborated by Pulendran from ChavakachcheriƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  as seen in the video in ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”Ground viewsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢. However according to Goebbels 4TV this too was done by the SL forces!

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Comparison with Nazi death camps. These human shields could be compared to survivors of Nazi extermination or death camps like Auschwitz and Treblinka or concentration camps like Belsen and Dachau even if here there were thousands of Tamils and not millions of Jews. The LTTE police had taken over duties akin to that of the Nazi SS camp guards. Every time a No Fire Zone (NFZ) was declared by the government the LTTE moved its herds of hostages into it, making cynically sure that if the government forces attacked them there, the innocent Tamil hostages would be the first to die. The SL forces were faced with a dilemma with time running out. Hostages were being killed by the LTTE as the stock of food and medicines were running out. They inveigled 300,000 hostages to escape before they took the last LTTE redoubt by fire.

Liberation unhinges the hostages. When news of the approach of a liberating force reaches those confined in such death camps they are capable of acting with extreme prejudice to the guards. At Dachau the inmates battered the Nazi SS guards and in some cases cut off their limbs even as the liberating troops came in. Did something like this happen in those last fateful days/ hours before the troops got to the survivors? Does G4TVƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  know? The probability of such events has been ignored in the fog of war that enveloped the Wanni. Knowing this the near bankrupt G4TV beneficiaries of the GTF treasury have stepped in with their concocted versions of the end of the conflict. They should know that if there were violations of any laws, the SL forces would investigate and take legal action whether the violators are friend or foe ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…”as it has done before, following IC practices.

Identifying the LTTE cadres. The LTTE has a variety of uniforms and many of them operate in plain (civilian) clothes (volkssturm battalions) or as volks grenadiers. The inmates of the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”human shieldƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ alone knew fully well who the LTTE were and their vengeance would have very selective and merciless when they were liberated. Their efforts could have coincided with the arrival of the SL liberating forces like at Auschwitz and Dachau. Enemy forces operating in plain clothes and in the uniforms of the other side often die suddenly.

Terrorism is a suicide pact. It was General Sir Frank Kitson, regarded as the expert in counter terrorism in UK in the 1970/80s who said that once a terrorist kills he knows his life in forfeit to the state and accepts that his act is one of suicide. There was no way that the end of the LTTE, that had legally forfeited the lives of its cadres to the state when it took up arms, would be glorious. However they did not commit mass suicide and make their end legendry. They died trying to escape.

LTTE fought on hoping for international intervention. LTTE did not fight to the last man as it often boasted it would. Forget the stand of 300 Greeks at Thermopylae, the 189 Swiss Guard defenders of the Pope at St PeterƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Basilica in 1527, the 182 Texan rebels at the Alamo , the 65 soldiers of the French Foreign Legion (ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”The legion dies. It does not surrenderƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢) at Cameron (Mexico), 300 Jap Samurai at Shiroyama (1877) the 42 Malay soldiers led by 2/Lt Adam bin Saidi at Pasir Prijan in defence of Singapore in 1942.They fought to the last man against respectively tens of thousands of Persians, troops of the Holy Roman Empire, 2000 Mexican soldiers, 30,000 US troops and 13,000 Japanese Imperial army troops. Whether the LTTE leadership died running away or fighting is not important. Like Osama Bin LadenƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s the LTTE leaders graves will never be known.

Responsibility. The LTTE instead spurned many offers to surrender made by SL, banking on spurious, speculative manoeuvres allegedly being made by the guilty IC, USA, UN and Norway. They paid the price in a way that stunned all including SL that believed the LTTE would stand and fight to the end. Whose is the responsibility for their deaths and that of the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”civiliansƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢?

Legal position of LTTE.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Interestingly however had the LTTE leaders especially been captured they would have all been charged with crimes that carried the death penalty (though executions have not been carried out in SL for over 40 years).In a way the IC by not being able to come to the rescue of the LTTE saved the SL government from lengthy legal processes as for Osama (USA) and Wijeweera in SL. But was justice served if not done? Will Zarqawi be done away in the same style too? SL refreshingly rehabilitated over 10,000 LTTE. Something that no other country has done before. Think of the IRA in Belfast. They are creating ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”troublesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ again.

Responsibility of SL Leaders. What agentsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ provocateur should know is that those who encouraged, armed, gave false hopes of a great escape and more to the LTTE are directly responsible for all what happened to everyone during the conflict. This responsibility has to be shared by Jayewardene, Premadasa, Kumaratunge and Wickramasinghe too.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Responsibility for those killed in the conflict. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Responsibility has to be borne not only by the LTTE and its surrogate the GTF but also by the UN, western only IC, particularly Norway, the USA and UK .Had they not from the very beginning misread the perverse LTTE which did not give a fig for any written under taking or other agreement. Had they not given it continuous false hopes that there would be foreign intervention at the beginning to intercede and latterly to save it; the conflict would have ended decades before. Tens of thousands of SL lives could have been saved. The 300,000 Wanni Tamils made to believe deliverance was close at hand and held as hostages need not have suffered even asƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  IDPs at the end of the conflict. Did these so called UN agencies pressure the LTTE to let the civilians go instead of indulging them? It is probable that the ICRC would have pleaded, so it does not carry blame or guilt. Is gross negligence also a war crime? What the powerful IC and the hapless UN could do now is to confess how their intentions, interference and contributions back fired.

Murder, rape and prudes. When the Vikings known to be dirty savages plundered North Western Europe during the 8^th to 11^th centuries, their organization for battle was famously known to be; first group ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…”murder, second burn and the third rape. It may not be true that they used the skulls of those killed for drinking vessels. There is now an allegation that the SL soldiers had indulged in murder and rape at the end of the war. It was of this same force that one of its virulent detractors (Gordon Weise) at his book launch said that they under close fire risked death and injury by clearing and marking pathways for the Tamil hostages to escape from the clutches of the LTTE death camp monsters. Could even a few them then cause a travesty of their mission by suddenly losing their senses and become guilty of atrocities as portrayed in the G4 TV videos? Would those pictures more suit the actions of the LTTE with its well known SOPs for dealing with captives? It was also in true Goebbelsian style an expert in psychological (huge lies) warfare and propaganda scarcely ever matched by SL. The LTTE had been killing the hostages for some time until the very end. It was the SL army that brought out and took care of not 40,000 but 300,000 hostages. Not one of them was ever harmed by the forces that also built those shelters in pouring rain and floods, shared their rations and continued to help them flee the LTTE even after a suicide bomber massacred about 20 soldiers and five IDPsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  at a check point? Maybe this contradiction would not stump the GTFƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s well paid G4 TV presenters. It was a British PM Baldwin quoting Kipling who said that the press had tremendous power but no responsibility- the prerogative of the harlot. How apt for G4TV.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 

SL Army Inquiry is on. The SL Army is in the process of inquiring into possible misdemeanours of the army during the conflict.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  G4 TV and GTF can certainly give evidence. Many people in SL will ensure their safety if they do come as they want to know what G4TV would have done in the circumstances of the biggest hostage rescue ever that shames attempts by the IC in Bosnia etc. Maybe if they are afraid they can instead send their evidence using the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”state of the artƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ technology they boast they have. Their mercenary verbal and visual presentations are gross, ugly, prudish, cock eyed and distorted. If there have been violations those responsible how ever senior they were/are will surely be dealt with according to Military and National laws as appropriate. The army will not hide anything or shield anyone.G4TV take note.

Salute Lt Col Lawrence Smith. It took Lt Col Smith the US MA to lead the SL fight back. He exposed the limitations of those who wished to blacken the name of the SL forces. What were the egg heads, million dollar budget PR firms and others doing? This is not the first time Col Smith has stood up for SL. The government of SL should reciprocate his bold gesture. It would not be too much for a start to offer Col Smith honorary SL citizenship and also make him an honorary member of every Armed Forces officerƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s mess especially of the infantry.

The people will not forget the 25,000 servicemen who sacrificed their lives and many more who were disabled to preserve the integrity of the country and liberate it from a 30 year terrorist scourge. This time the fight is for good governance and against crime and corruption so that those whose families bore the brunt of the war both military and civil can believe their tremendous sacrifices have not been in vain.
