International community bullying Sri Lanka !

The Canadian Prime Minister had threatened to boycott the 2013 Commonwealth Summit in Sri Lanka, unless the govt address accountability issues. Reflecting this, the High Commissioner for Canada had observed, “…Sri Lanka had failed to address contentious issues to the degree the ‘international community’ expected and wanted it to do…”

It is his pregorative to decide whether he should attend or not. And ofcourse he will get the Tamil diaspora votes if he does not attend the conference. So all these threats are to get their votes. And also funds.

In the past, theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ international community was mum over atrocities committed by the LTTE. And now they are pointing the finger at Sri Lanka on unsubstantiated allegations on war crimes. Further, those who were fighting for the terrorists andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ who leftƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sri Lanka after the warƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ were offeredƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ safe havenƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in these countries. And now they are back inƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the game conducting extortive fund-raising campaigns and propagandaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ war against Sri Lanka. During the heydays of the LTTE, the international community turned a blind eye to millions of dollars collected by the Tamil diaspora to be used against terrorism in Sri Lanka, causing misery to the people day in day out.

9/11 bombing was a blessing in disguise because it was only after the attack on the twin towers that the US took the ‘war on terrorism’ seriously. Prior to that, in their book, terrorism was confined only to countries like Sri Lanka and the US woke up only after 9/11 and banned the LTTE.

Now the so called ‘international community’ is drumming support against Sri Lanka on war crimes for the Tamil diaspora votes and funding for their parties.

Sri Lanka is doing its best with regard toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ reconstruction and reconciliation. And the international community cannot deny the huge benefits gained due to peace. Those who are trying to further the interests of the LTTE rump and crying war crimes should study the ground situation created by the ‘heavy weights’ in Iraq, Afghanistan andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Libya !

Why should Sri Lanka host the 2013 Commonwealth Summit? What benefit S/L achieved been member of out dated colonial power?. S/L tax payers money should used something benefit to ordinary people of SL not those who are working behind against SL.
