Sir:
It is a bit presumptuous, strange and tawdry for Canada to add pressure on Sri Lanka and wanting to boycott the ColomboƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Commonwealth Summit in 2013 spelling out alleged violationsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ of Human Rights during the final phase of the Tamil Tiger terrorist war as the reason when Canada allowed the Tamil Diaspora fund one-third of the war-budget by stuffing two million dollars a month into the war chest during the 13 Liberal governing years. Our presumptuous ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-We are Holier than ThouƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ attitude is a bit too much to swallow.
As for the Eminent Persons Group Report, primarily providing for a Commonwealth Charter and establishing a new post by appointing a Commissioner for Democracy, Rule of Law and Human Rights had reasons to be questioned asƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ it would be detrimental to its intrusive nature of developing countries, which have been violated by developedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Commonwealth countries like Canada,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ UK and India as seen in Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ I now understand why 43 of the ReportƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s 106 recommendations which deemed to be controversial were questioned for its validity.
