The recent statement by the General Secretary of the JVP that it regrets the decision to form alliances with certain politicians and political parties in the past is not the half of it.

If Sri Lanka is to accept the JVP as a saneƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ political party, it must first apologize to the nation for the stupid mistakes it made ifirst in 1971 and then in the 1990′ s to wage war on the people of Sri Lanka in its efforts to grab power at any cost. The death and destruction they caused cannot be swept under the rug. The thousands who suffered in many ways including the loss of life and limb should be remembered as the consequence of the acts of evil people in the land of the Buddha, and the perpetrators have a lot to pay for. They, like the terrorists from the North and East have done great damage to the beautiful land of ourƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ birth, some of which is irreparable. So Mr. Secretary or whoever you areƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ or whatever faction you belong to, first apologize on bended knee and then swear to the nation that your “party” eschews violence.
