ISLAM and the advent of latter day Messiah.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The articles appeared in lanakweb on 14th and 19th January 2012, clearly indicated JesusƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ post-crucifixion journey to Kashmir and his natural death over there as well as the advent of another person in the spirit of Jesus ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” similarities between them were also discussed. Here, I want to elaborate in depth what the religious scriptures say about this latter day Messiah, for the benefit of the readers.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
When we study the Bible, there are many prophecies concerning to the second advent of Jesus. These prophecies not only give the details of the signs related to the appearance of the Messiah but also pin point the time of his appearance, such as: Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom (Matthew 24:7) This is a great and visible sign, which can not be denied. It is true that wars are not started only in this age, and there is always bloodshed since the appearance of Adam.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But wars which took place within the last hundred years have no parallel in the history of mankind.
The bible prophecizes,ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-And there shall be famines (food shortages).ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Matthew 24:7) These signs were also fulfilled without doubt.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ There is more than one fourth of the total population of the world which could not get enough to eat, even in some places where food is plentiful, but the people are too poor to buy it.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Millions of people are dying in hunger only in Africa every year and suffering with starvation all over the world.
ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-There will be pestilences in diverse placesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Luke 21:11) This sign also appeared in a very clear way in different parts of the world, within the last hundred years.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Millions of people died of plague at the end of the nineteenth century in India alone.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Then after the First World War, more than 20 million people died with Spanish flu. Millions of people died with smallpox in India alone after the Second World War.
ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-There will be earthquakes in one place after another.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Matthew 24:7)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In the last hundred years more than 50 great earthquakes took place, and millions have died in these major earthquakes.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ These signs appeared in China, India, Pakistan, Haiti, Japan, Turkey, Europe, Australia and America.
ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-The sea and the waves roaring.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ (Luke 21:26) Hurricanes are another type of natural disaster and every year, thousands of people become the victim of such calamities. In 2004 Tsunami only, about half a million people died and the property of trillions of dollars was destroyed.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Such hurricanes appear every year in India, Bangladesh, Europe and America.
ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Corruption of the faith.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Luke 18:8) It is also one of the signs of the coming of the Messiah that there would not be faith left on the earth.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ When we see the world through this angle, we see that many want to be free from the responsibilities of religion.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ People have adopted there own ways, different from their religious teachings. All religions are divided into sects and facing the same problem. So this prophecy is also fulfilled, that there will be no faith left on earth, when the Messiah would appear. A saying of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is: A time would come when nothing would be left of Islam except its name and nothing would be left of QurƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢an except is word. (Mishkat).
ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-The gospel would be preached in the whole world.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Matthew 24:14) This is another sign of the coming of Messiah that the Bible would be preached in the whole world.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ So by preaching the gospels, in the whole world, in all the nations, the prophecy of the coming of Christ has been fulfilled.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Specified Time about The Appearance of The Messiah According To The Bible
ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Behold, I am coming as a thief.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Revelation 16:15) As no one can predict the coming of a thief, similarly, the coming of the Messiah would be unexpected.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ This is why people would reject him but those who would remain conscious about his appearance; they would recognize him through the signs.
Christian Scholars calculated, the time of the appearance of the Christ in light of the guideline given in the Bible and majority of the scholars agreed that Christ would appear at the end of the 19th century.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Books were written and articles were published on this subject that the appointed time for the coming for Christ had reached.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And this is why many people claimed to be the Messiah at the head of the 19th century.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ For example, Pigott, in England claimed to be the Messiah, and gathered thousands of people around him.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Similarly in the United States, John Alexander Dowie, of Zion, claimed, to be the Elijah of this age.
ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Lo, here is Christ, or, Lo, he is there, believe him not.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Mark 13:21) Because this was the appointed time for the coming of Messiah, so many false prophets also appeared in that time period but the Messiah must have appeared in that age according to the Bible.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And perhaps this is the reason why Christians openly declared that as the Bible pointed to 1914 AD as the time period for the MessiahƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s coming, the time of coming of Messiah had expired.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
This was the time for coming of the Messiah according to the Bible, as Prophet Daniel predicted: ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-And from the time that the continual burnt-offering shall be taken away, and the abomination that makes desolate set up, there shall be a thousand and two hundred and ninety days.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Daniel 12:11)
It was exact the time when the Promised Messiah, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (Founder, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Islam) appeared on the scene.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He writes: ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-In 1290, according to the Hijrah calendar this humble one was blessed with the Divine revelationƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Haqiqat-ul-Wahi, pg.199) The Promised MessiahHazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad also says: ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-This was the time for coming of Messiah, if I had not appeared someone else would have appeared.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚
Parable of the Fig Tree:
ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Now, learn a parable of the fig tree; when his branches become tender, and the leaves come out, you know that summer is near; So likewise when you see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doorsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Matthew 24:32-33)
In this parable, it is very clear that when the signs start appearing, mentioned in the gospels, then it is as if Jesus Christ is at door.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ As when the summer appears, the branches of the fig tree become tender.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ So if the signs mentioned in the gospels are fulfilled, within the last hundred years, then it means Jesus has already appeared.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And people did not recognize him, in his second advent, as people could not recognize his first appearance.
Another sign: ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-The sun shall be darkened, and the Moon shall not give its light;ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Matthew 24:29) The is the most important sign given in the Bible, predicted by different prophets, like Prophet Joel, Isaiah, and Jesus Christ (peace be on all of them). Not only in the Christian literature, but this prophecy is also found in the Hindu, Sikh, Jewish and Islamic Literature.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The sun and the moon eclipse is the divine sign mentioned in the religious literatures, which is not in human power to produce.
This sign is not an ordinary sign, because the sun and moon eclipsed, uncountable times in the history of mankind.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And every year eclipses of the sun and moon occur in different part of the world.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But the sign predicted by all the major religions must be unique in its nature.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ When we study Islamic literature regarding this sign, we see more details about this sign, which really make this sign unique and such sign never appeared before in the human history, and this is according to the prediction of the Holy prophet of Islam (peace be upon him), as follows ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…”
ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-For our Mahdi (the Messiah), there are two signs which have never appeared before, since the creation of the heaven and the earth, namely, the Moon will be eclipsed on the first night in Ramadan (on the first of the nights on which a lunar eclipse can occur) and the Sun will be eclipsed in the middle of it.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ (On the middle one of the days on which a solar eclipse can occur).ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And these signs have not been appeared since God created heaven and earth.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Daarul Qutni)
The above prophecy is the same which is given by all other prophets, but here it gives every detail that the moon and sun eclipse would appear in the same month of Ramadan, on the specified dates (13th and 28th of Ramadan, respectively).ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And this unique sign appeared in 1894, in the eastern hemisphere and in 1895, in the western hemisphere, on the 13th and 28th of the month of Ramadan.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ So this grand prophecy of the Bible and of other major religions was fulfilled exactly 100 years before.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In the Prophecy given by the Prophet Isaiah, where the, sign of the moon and sun eclipse is mentioned, the time of the sun eclipse is also given.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And when this divine sign appeared, on April 6th, 1894, it was, exactly the same time mentioned in the Bible. ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-The sun will be dark at its rising, and the moon will not shed its light.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Isaiah 13:10) So the sun eclipse started in the morning and from 7a.m to 9a.m, the whole sun remained dark.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ This is the same thing which is mentioned in the Bible, that the sun will be dark at its rising.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Days of Noah as witness, about the appearance of Christ.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚
According to the Bible, it is very clear, that all the calamities, disasters and the tribulations would appears after the appearance of Messiah, the Christ, as a punishment to the disbelievers.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And in support of this belief, we see a very nice example and sign given by Jesus, about his second appearance, and that is;
ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-But as the days of Noah were, so shall also be the coming of the son of man.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the Ark.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away, so shall also the coming of the son of man be.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Matthew 24:37-39)
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ So it is a very clear guideline for us to recognize Jesus Christ in his second advent.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The people of Noah were not destroyed unless Noah preached the word of God, to his people, and they rejected the divine call, then they were warned by the prophet about the wrath of God, and when they did not show any positive response, then finally they were destroyed, from the face of the earth with the greatest flood in the history of mankind.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ So in the same way Christ would appear and would preach the word of God and would be rejected and then due to the disobedience of GodƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s messenger, the people would face the terrible days, like the days of Noah.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Otherwise, it would make sense to destroy innocent people, without giving them any warning. The Holy QuƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ran says: ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-And We shall never punish until We have sent a Messenger.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (17:16)
The Promise Messiah Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, peace be on him says: ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-If this is the age of the second advent of Christ, then why did he not appear?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And if he has appeared, then where, when and who?ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ To answer all these question, and to have a better understanding about the answers, is necessary to have a look at religious history, specially divine reformers, like Adam, Abraham, Moses, Christ and the prophet of Islam, peace be upon them.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ How did they make their claim and how were they treated by their people.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And if we know history, then it is clear that there has not appeared even a single prophet on this earth, who was welcomed by its people.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ When the prophets could not fulfill the self established conditions of the people and their criteria, the prophets were rejected and not only rejected, but were severely persecuted by the people.
According to the demands of the people, prophets had not appeared in the land they were expecting, or they could not fulfill the imaginary signs of people, and sometimes the reformers and their teachings were not of their standard.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ So such were the lame excuses of people at the appearance of the prophets and the messengers of God.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ This is why Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Prophet of Islam were persecuted and why they suffered by the hands of their own people.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Abraham was thrown into the fire, Moses was forced to leave Egypt, Jesus was hanged on the cross, and the Holy prophet of Islam migrated from his own motherland having tears in his eyes. We must be alert that a similar case should have not happened with the second advent of Christ.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Would Christ Descend from Heaven?
According to the existing belief of Christianity, Jesus ascended to the heaven and the same Christ would descend from heaven again.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ This issue can be solved easily in the light of Biblical teaching because there is a similar issue between the Jews and the Christians, which is about the coming of Elijah. ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before the great and dreadful days of the lord comes.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Malachi 4:5) So in light of Biblical teachings, Jews are waiting for Elijah since thousands of years, even when Jesus appeared two thousand years before, Jews rejected him only because they believed that Elijah must come first.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Jesus replied to them in a very clear and beautiful way in the following words; ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of haven has been suffering with violence.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John, and if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He, who has ears, let him hear.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Matthew 11:12-15)
So with one stroke, Jesus solved the main issue of the Jews but they still rejected him, but not their false belief.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ So in the light of the statement of Jesus Christ, we can easily understand the second advent of Christ and that is the likeness of John the Baptist.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ As John appeared instead of Elijah, in the same way someone appeared instead of Jesus Christ and that was Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835 ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” 1908). Under Divine Command he claimed to be the Messiah of this age in the year 1889 and said that he appeared instead of Jesus Christ, as John the Baptist appeared instead of Elijah.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And all this happened according to the words of Jesus.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ At another place Jesus Says; ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Matthew 23:39) That some one would come in the name of the lord (Jesus), not Jesus himself, and people would recognize Jesus in the form of another person. God revealed to Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-The Messiah, son of Mary, Prophet of God is dead. It is thou who hast appeared in his spirit, according to the promise. And the promise of God is ever fulfilledƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ If Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is a Messiah of this age, then why he is from the Muslims, not from the Christians?
This is also according to the prediction of Jesus Christ and he warned his followers; ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And whoever falls on this stone will be broken, but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Matthew 21:43,44) So according to the words of Jesus, all this happened, and the kingdom of God was taken from the Christians and given to the Muslims.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ This is why the Second Advent of Christ took place in Islam, in the person of Mirza Ghulam Ahmed.
Prophets appeared all over the world. There are some prophesies which indicate that Christ, in his second appearance, would come from east, as Jesus Christ says; ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even to the west, so shall also the coming of the son of man be.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Matthew 24:27) This shows that the Messiah would appear in the east and his message would reach to the west.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Interestingly, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad appeared in Qadian, Punjab, India, which is in the east of Palestine, where Jesus predicted the coming of Messiah.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The joyous news of the Messiah reached the west, and now his followers are in more than 200 countries, in the whole world. In a hadith (sayings of Holy Prophet), a similar point is mentioned that the Messiah would appear east of Damascus: He would descend near a white minaret, east of Damascus. He also said: Whoever lives among you shall meet Isa, Son of Mary (Jesus), who is Imam, Mahdi, Arbitrator and Judge. (Musnad Ahmad bin Hambal, Vol.2 P.411)
Sikh and Hindu scriptures also clearly states that the great reformer would appear in India, and narrow downs the particular area of his appearance:ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And this is also mentioned in Islamic Literature too. Same way his name is also mentioned in Ather Vedas, and that is, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-AhmadƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is also mentioned in the Bible that a reformer would appear and will not be an Arab or from Palestine rather be from a foreign land (Isaiah 28:11).
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Physical Appearance of Christ, in Light of the Biblical Teachings
Some Christians believe that it is true that the time for the coming of the Christ, with a physical body is over but that he may have started spiritually ruling the world.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It might be sufficient for their own satisfaction, but it is against the Biblical teachings, because the Bible speaks about the bodily appearance of Christ.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It says, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ That is a deceiver and an anti-christƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.
So at the appointed time, the physical appearance of the Messiah of this age occurred, according to the Biblical prophecies. They all pointed to Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, India.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He faced similar opposition as the other prophets faced.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But a mighty hand of God was always in his favor, so in spite of all the hurdles, he always remained successful in his mission. He and his followers passed and still are passing through the severe channel of persecution, in one city after another.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ So the word of Christ become true, as Jesus said; ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you, and you shall be hated of all the nations for my nameƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s sake.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (Matthew 24:9) The above verse shows that Jesus is not talking about the existing Christians because in this age Christians are not persecuted in the name of the Christ.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But followers of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Messiah of this age are suffering with hardships and persecutions in different parts of the word since one hundred years.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ So this prophecy is also a great sign about the truthfulness of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, of Qadian, India, the Messiah and Mahdi of the age.
The Promised Messiah Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad says:
ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-O mankind!ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Hearken; this is the prophecy of God Who made the Heavens and the Earth.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He will spread this Community in all the countries and will give it supremacy over all through reason and arguments. Ahamadi Muslims in honor killing in Canada.
The jury in Kingston, Ontario, deliberated for two days before pronouncing a guilty sentence against Mohammad Shafia, 58, his 42-year-old wife Tooba Mahommad Yahya and their 21-year-old son Hamed.
Their defense attorneys said they would appeal the convictions.
Judge Robert Maranger called the crimes “heinous” as he sentenced the accused to 25 years in prison, and said the evidence clearly supported the charges.
“The apparent reason behind these cold-blooded, shameful murders was that the four completely innocent victims offended your completely twisted concept of honor,” the judge said.
“It’s a sick notion of honor that has no place in a civilized society.”
Mohammad Shafia replied: “We are not criminals. We are not murderers. We didn’t commit murder. This is unjust.”
“I am not a murderer. I am a mother,” echoed Tooba Yahya.
The three defendants were found guilty of the deaths of the couple’s three daughters and Shafia’s first wife in his polygamous marriage after a four-month-long trial that heard dozens of witnesses testify.
The bodies of the victims — Zainab Shafia, 19; Sahar Shafia, 17; Geeti Shafia, 13; and Rona Amir Mohammad, 50 — were found in a car submerged in a canal lock near Kingston, Ontario in June 2009.
Court testimony told of an abusive home gripped by fear and where the victims received frequent death threats, in part over the fact that the two eldest daughters had boyfriends without their father’s approval.
Prosecutors argued throughout the four-month trial the murders were staged as an accident by the accused to cover up what they called an honor killing.
They said the victims were drowned or rendered unconscious before being put in a car and then pushed into the water.
It was argued that in the eyes of the father the three girls had damaged the family’s reputation with their indiscretions, such as wearing revealing clothing and telling school officials of alleged abuse at home.
Crown attorney Laurie Lacelle said in her closing arguments that the goal was to “remove the diseased limb” from the family tree.
The defense, however, maintained the deaths were accidental and a result of the eldest daughter going on a joyride. They contend Zainab took the car in the middle of the night while the family slept at a Kingston motel overnight where they stopped to rest returning to Montreal from a trip to Niagara Falls.
Shafia and his family had come to Canada in 2007, after living in Australia, Pakistan and Dubai over the previous 15 years.
On the morning of the deaths, a car was discovered underwater at the upper lock at Kingston Mills with the four bodies inside. A post-mortem examination indicated they died of drowning.
Canada has seen 13 such killings — which are more common in countries in the Middle East and South Asia — since 2002, Amin Muhammed, a psychiatry professor at Memorial University in Saint John’s, Newfoundland, said in October.

Your question suggests that you are not happy with your present religion, whatever that might be. And as you enquire about how to become a Muslim, can I pass on a story which I recall reading some time ago, concerning the Irish writer James Joyce?
Someone had asked Joyce when he had given being a Catholic, whether he had now become a Protestant. And Joyce is said to have replied something on the lines of ‘I may have lost my faith but I have not lost my reason!’
Just a thought.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was founded by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian (1835 – 1908) The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in Islam was created under divine guidance with the objective to rejuvenate Islamic moral and spiritual values. It encourages interfaith dialogue, and diligently defends Islam and tries to correct the misunderstandings about Islam around the globe. It advocates peace, tolerance, love and understanding among followers of different faiths. It firmly believes in and acts upon the Qur’anic teaching: ‘There is no compulsion in religion.” (2:257). It firmly believes in and terrorism in any form for any reason. The Community offers a clear presentation of Islamic wisdom, philosophy, morals and spirituality as derived from the Holy Qur’an and the practice (Sunnah) of the Holy Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him).
A newcomer to Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is being asked to abide by the following conditions:
1. To abstain from shirk or setting up partners with God till the day of his death.
2. To keep away from falsehood, adultery, cruelty, dishonesty, riot, rebellion and every kind of evil.
3. To offer the five Daily Prayers and also the tahajjud Prayer (pre – dawn supererogatory prayers) if able to do so.
4. Not to harm God’s creatures in general and Muslims in particular, by one’s actions or by words.
5. To stay faithful to God in sorrow or pleasure, prosperity or adversity, happiness or misfortune.
6. Not to follow vulgar customs, to abstain from evil inclinations, to submit to the authority of the Holy Quran and to make the sayings of God and His Messenger the guiding principles of one’s life.
7. To completely discard pride and haughtiness and to pass one’s days with humility, lowliness, courtesy and meekness.
8. To consider the religion, the honour of religion and the well-being of Islam dearer than one’s life, wealth, honour and children.
9. To show sympathy God’s creatures and to use one’s natural talents for their welfare.
10. To establish a brotherhood with Mirza Ghulam Ahmad on condition of obeying him in everything good, till the day of one’s death.
This is the only Community in Islam which has spiritual leadership. After the demise of its Founder in 1908, a system of Khilafath (Caliph) is established as promised in Holy Quran (24: 56). The present Head of the Community is Mazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad. Ahmadis living in 200 countries world over under one Leadership. Their numbers exceeds 220 millions. A system of Spiritual Government is going on in this International Community. We have nothing to do with mainstream Muslims, instead we invite entire humanity to the fold of Islam. Our motto is: LOVE FOR ALL; HATRED FOR NONE.

Although the buyer in the market place had every opportunity to see that the product he purchased was ounterfeit, his hopes were falsely based on a label that looked identical to the original. Maybe there were other similarities- a seemingly identical logo, style, or feel. Perhaps a promotional tag promised the same value or guaranteed similar quality. Perhaps the item even stated that it came from the same location as the genuine article. The greater the similarities between the two, the greater the possibility of deception. But the eventual result was not only poorer, it was inadequate and unfulfilling. Ultimately, hopes were dashed and reality set in.
The figure of “the Jesus of Islam” (Isa in Arabic) pawns itself off in the same fashion, with one major exception- it promises that it is the original and the Jesus of Christianity is the fraud. The Qur’an uses biblical terms to describe its Jesus, calling him Messiah (Masih), the Word (kalima), and Prophet (Nabi). In other words, his “logo’ is the same, but his character is radically changed.
Likewise, the Jesus of Islam is represented as sharing a common religious history- parts of the Old Testaments- with the Jesus of the Bible. Both allegedly come from the same source. Finally, the Jesus of Islam promises similar results to those offered by the Jesus of the Bible. The Qur’anic Jesus is said to teach peace and show men and women the way to Paradise. Sadly, the adherents of this Jesus will one day recognize that they have been taken in by a counterfeit and a fraud. A name used in common does not necessarily mean a person in common.
The Holy Bible in unmistakable terms had predicted the first advent of Jesus Christ as the Messiah, the anointed one, the incarnated divine Son of God. Jesus fulfilled every prophecy that had prophesied of Him in the Old Testament, (Hebrew Bible). Yet, Jews rejected Him. They did not accept Christ as Messiah not because they did not understand the Scriptures and prophecies concerning Him, but their expectation were for a earthly king. They missed the true mission and message of Christ that was foretold throughout the Old Testament. Christ did not come to establish an earthly kingdom but a spiritual one.
Islam religion originated in (632 A.D) 632 years after Christ, and obviously it is one of the deceptive counterfeits of Christianity and it clearly denies Christ is messiah and His true divine nature as revealed in the Bible. Therefore, according to Islam Jesus is a messenger, a mere man, son of Mary etc., and their Qur’ ran conflicts and contradicts with the Holy Bible. Jesus of Islam is not the same historical Jesus. ‘Many individuals and groups throughout history have attempted to mold a “new and improved” Jesus, created in their own minds and for their own purposes. These false Christs are based in fictions and not in fact. Revising the Jesus of history according to their own wants and desires illustrates how prophecies like below are being fulfilled today. Christ warned that,”False Christs and false Prophets will appear..to deceive many” (Matthew24:24).
Buddha had taught that he was not ‘a god,” but only a man, a truth seeker. But on his death bed He had said that there would be a future Messiah, “Lord of Mercies,” who would be able to free men of their sins. Buddha said, “..he is the Lord of Mercies, His name shall be called the king of kings, the Lord of Lords. He is all knowing, all wise. He knows all that is in the human heart. He is the Lord of all the angels and of all humans. No one is greater than (Read, Sutrapridot 3:107 (The heritage of Siddhartha Gautama). That describes the Jesus Christ of the Bible. Bible states that Jesus at His second Advent will come as the King of kings, and Lord of Lords in power and glory and “EVERY EYE SHALL SEE HIM COMING”Matt 24:30, Revelation 1:7 (Revelation 17:14, Rev.19:11-16).
Bible have repeatedly warned against the false Messiahs and false teachers in the last days of our world history. They will try to misinterpret the Scriptures and misapply the Word of God from their preconceived human views and attempt to change the truth to a fable. The opponents of the truth cannot see the truth of divine nature of Jesus Christ unless they put away their preconceived false beliefs. Bible clearly states that Jesus is God incarnated(John 1:1-3, 14). By prayerfully searching the Scriptures and asking God to give you understanding, I assure you that you will find the amazing truth about Jesus Christ. He is fully God and co-existed with the Father, and the Holy Spirit eternally. Jesus must be understood as being the way God is in Himself, however difficult this may be for our fallen minds to grasp. They are the eternal heavenly dignitaries. In the Holy Bible Jesus is revealed as the Eternal Creator and not a created being (John 1:1-3,14). As one compares Scripture definitions for God with the Bible record of Jesus, we see all the characteristics of God are also ascribed to Jesus.
The Bible has very specific instructions concerning Christ’s second Advent so that no one will be deceived by the false Messiahs and false teachers. Read, Matt 24:4, 5, 11, 23, 26, “And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many.”“ and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.” “For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” Anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the desert,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it.’
When Christ is about to appear, the Scripture says that “the voice of God comes out of heaven” declaring, “it is done”. Then, “there will be a mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on the earth. The mountains shake, rocks are scattered everywhere, and the whole earth heaves like waves of the ocean”Rev.19: 16, 17). Its surface breaks up “and the cities of the nations fell…then…islands fled away, and the mountains were not found” (verses 19, 20) “The sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, every mountain was moved out of its place” (Rev 6:14).
Despite the chaos descending upon the physical world, God’s followers of his true word will see the Son of Man (Matt 24:30) descends on the clouds of heaven, and every eye will sees Jesus Christ coming as the “King of Kings and Lord of Lords” (Rev 19:12, 13). Great despair grips those who have refused to acknowledge Jesus as the Savior and rejected him. Nothing makes the rejectors of his grace (forgiveness of sin) so aware of their guilt as that voice that had pleaded so patiently, “turn away from your evil ways!” “And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, and said to the mountains and rocks, ‘fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?” (Revelation 6:15-17).
The joy of those who have been received Jesus and redeemed from their sin and evil ways of this earth overshadows the despair of the wicked (Isa. 25:9). At the second advent, Jesus will raise the righteous-dead sleeping in their graves and commissions his angels to “gather them together from one ends to another (Matt 24:31) and they will hear his voice and come out of graves some for life-eternal, and others for damnation. Then, the living-righteous are changed “in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye”(1cor 15:52) received immortality, together with the resurrected ones, they are caught up to meet their Lord in the air to remain with him forever 1Thess 4:16, 17).
For the rejectors of the righteousness of God on earth,“the day of the Lord so comes as thief in the night”while they say “peace and safety, the sudden destruction comes upon them…, AND THEY WILL NOT ESCAPE”(1Thess.5:2,3 cf. Matt 24:43).

The signs of Christ’s Second Advent will be in evidence in the political, economic, scientific, and religious world thus making it possible for the whole of society to be aware of earth’s closing events. In addition to the signs in the sky and on the earth, men’s hearts will be fearful. “Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth.” Luke21:26. When these world conditions are observed there is the indication that the coming of the Lord is “even at the doors”(Matthew 24: 32-34).Bible did not say when you see these things He is here BUT He is NEAR. But He said, “Watch therefore; for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” V.42. God sends His followers to prepare a people for the advent of Christ. Like John, who was the forerunner of Christ’s first advent, there going to be voices lifted up “in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord” (Luke 1:17) in the end before the Second Advent of the Jesus.
The Elijah represents the people who will proclaim God’s last messages of love and mercy and warning to all inhabitants on earth before the closing days of earth’s history.These last messages are wrapped up in the last book of the Bible, the Revelation 14:6-12) “to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people.”
The nation spoken of Matthew 21:43,44 parable is the nation of Israel whom God had chosen to carry the gospel to the world, but because Jews rejected Jesus and God’s plan, they were no longer God’s chosen people as a nation. Instead, God’s people comprised of people of all nations who accept Christ and serve Him as spiritual Jews. So, the church is international. They have become His chosen people-“heirs according to the promise” Spiritual Jews, of course include Jewish people who individually accept and serve Jesus (Galatians 3:27,-29, Romans 2:28, 29). Then, disciples of Christ took the gospel to all nations around the world (Acts 13:46). The Christian message is being preached around the world, the Good news of God is carried to utmost parts of the world by all nationalities today.
Jesus promised that He will come back soon again (John 14:30, 1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17, Matt. 24: 23-30, Revelation 22: 7, 12, 13, 16,20). To see Jesus and unite forever with Him who loves us more than we can imagine. To have an end of all earthly suffering! To enjoy eternity with resurrected loved ones now at rest! No wonder that since Christ’s ascension His friends have looked forward to that day. One day soon He will come, though even to the people His coming will be an overwhelming surprise-for all slumber and sleep in their long sleep wait (Matthew 25:5. At “midnight” in earth’s darkest hour, God will manifest His power to deliver His people.
