ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The government has rightfully appealed to its citizens and people from all works of life around the world to support Sri Lanka when it meets UNHRC in Geneva on Feb 27 to March 23rd. There will be a charge sheet by the United States against Sri Lanka on its conduct during the final stages of liberating its people from the LTTE terrorist outfit.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ What happened during the final stage was Sri Lanka doing what it was right; and, it is purely an internal affair. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ As usual, the United States wishing to meddle in other nationsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ internal affairs, was trying to manipulate the situation into their own advantage. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ United States saw Sri Lanka is moving away from its high handed ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ imperial power control to countries in the East, namely China. Now simply, it is trying hard to take the revenge on Sri Lankan people using a chocolate cover as the protector of human rights in the world. This is like a thief is trying to be the head of an international police.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Its own human rights records exceed the number of violations of human right records of many countries.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
It has a record of using human rights as a cover to tarnish images and control many countries such as China, Russia and many other small nations. It is doing so to consolidate their rank in the economy and influence in the world. Not very many understood in the world is the Christian religion which plays a big factor in the worldƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s politics. It is not surprising why it wants to attack Buddhists! Its adopted child is the Israel which supports the U.S. as its own sister. The power base of the U.S. is basically the church, not the big companies as many usually think!
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
It is true that United States has enough nuclear weapons capable of destroying the world at its will, but it has very few resources and will, if any, to contribute the peace to the world at large. It is best at doing the opposite-bringing destructions!
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
It has meddled in the internal affairs of many other countries making these countries worst than it was before they invaded. It has lied to the world about Iraq. It has already ruined the Afghanistan. It has made regime changes. It may have done war crimes than any other countries combined together. It is best at influencing opposition parties, terrorists and haters within a country ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to topple any government in the world.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
The United States wants to cover its bad reputation using human rights card, and keep its economy going by making poor countries stay poor. If we are not poor, they cannot be the master! It is indirectly advocating racism between the East and West. It is indirectly advocating segregation between people, between nations and between religions.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
The UNHRC is already biased. It staff consists of members who are mostly from the west, carefully and selectively appointed by the west for the interests of the west. They are making mockery out of the human rights and using it as a leverage to make the moves to their advantage in the international political power play.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
The first thing has to be done first. If the UNHRC is truly unbiased and not under control of the west, it should seriously investigate the record of the human rights violations by the United States first.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ I believe that it is the prime duty of any citizen of Sri Lanka and any peace loving person in the world to extend his or her support to counter the allegations of the United States against Sri Lanka, which is based on fictions, revenge and aimed at bringing instability in the Asian region.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Finally, I would like to indicate here that ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ it is the prime duty of our citizens to protect the image of our gallant soldiers who sacrificed their lives and limbs in bringing the peace to our country, which we enjoy today. We do not need to go back to the square one again, which is what it wants in the form of sanctions, regime change and possibly destructions!ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Show your gratitude and support Sri Lanka!
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

The Sri Lanka President was elected with 59% of popular vote. This is not the first time regime change was tried in Sri Lanka. Despicable attempt to destroy democracy in Sri Lanka should be condemned in strongest possible terms. Soon after President was elected, there was a attempt to install a military dictatorship.
But the first attempt was in 1962 when FC de Saram, Douglas Liyanage and 30 traitors tried to kill Mrs.B and install a Christian government like in South Vietnam. Even today, some Tamil Diaspora, writes and speak of these traitors as heroes. Every few months, a Canadian based blog on Sri Lanka, would sing praises of these traitors and laments of survival of democracy in Sri Lanka.
I have noticed, so called Tamil Diaspora would never speak of crimes of Europe and America. They treat Europe and USA as their master and commander. What they say is, “Please give us Eelam, carved out of Sri Lanka, just like East Timor, and we will always give you access to sea lanes, harbors, military exercises and destabilization of the region”. They reply is, “Yes we will try our best to give you an enclave, even a tax haven, or you can be like East Timor, nation of neo-slaves and we can control the whole region.”
This attempt is to impose some sanctions on Sri Lanka, like on Iran, is to bring the Islands economy to its knees. Sri Lankas future lies with Asian nations. Europe look at us as Brown people with an attitude. In their eyes, it is a grave crime. The acts to sabotage Sri Lankan economy will go on. Those who live overseas, should invest in Sri Lanka, (at least have a non-resident bank account), and speak out against these acts. Forgetting Sri Lanka is like forgetting ones mother.

Regime change won’t work. According to the Constitution UPFA can appoint the next president to run the country. Parliamentary seats also stay with UPFA.
So if the traitors languishing, eating, sleeping, socialising and living among murderers, rapists, arsonists, looters, terrorists and separatists are dreaming of ruling SL with US assistance with US $ 900,000 in their vaults, they are just being foolish.

In this issue why is India silent?
It is our neighbour and a member of UNHCR.
Why did Ms Otero go to India while Blake was in Sri lanka?
I say it is India behind the the move with the help of Indian colonial parasites like Navi Pillai.
India does not accept the wiping out of Indian Tamil terrorist outfit.
It just wanted Parabakaran killed to satisfy Menaka Gandhi and her family.
Then India funed Sarath Fonseka but failed.
Now India is doing with Blake a US Democrat.
Last election Indai and Indians poured money into Democrats and will do again.

Dear Jay Deshabandhu!
Like your surname its quite appropriate.. Thanks so much for your valuable contrbution. I feel most writers contributing to Lankaweb, should get together and form a commiitee to solve or at least suggest proposals to our leaders in Sri lanka. Some of our brothers & sisiters are too busy trying to make a living and worried when the next meal comes from.
As such few of us who are comfortable & have many concerns about our Motherland should advice HE President to NEVER give in or adopt 13 ammendment + or – or 13A.. whatever form, it is somthing IMPOSED on us with frigates in our seas JUST TO SHOW who cammands the Sri Lankan waters.
We must support our President to ABOLISH 13 ammendement in any form & CLAWBACK any language & other grants already enjoyed by Tamils. Tamils do not care, boasts about regime change, where as these are TERRORISTS who ruined our country. So why give then an inch. Ask them to go to India or USA ask for land there.
This country belongs to Sinhalese, Buddhists, Moors, Malay & Burghers and any TAMIL who is devoted & accept the UNITARY nature of Sri lanlka, INDIVISIBLE, ONE NATION from here to Eternity.
As a FIRST STEP it is a very good idea to pass legislation to amalgamate SOUTHERN PROVINCE with EASTERN provine. Alreay bulk of these so called disadvantaged tamils live in the South.
Then NORTH have stand alone & gradually converted into a province as few other provices WITHOUT any specail status.
Our President can do it with 2/3 majority & we should support him. Then most of this uniting or merging East & North will be a forgone conclusion. ONE COUNTRY, ONE PEOPLE WHO WANTS PEACE & FREEDOM.
Thanks very much again..Just voicing my opinion about problems in Sri lanka………~ Gamunu- Retd Engineer- Canada

We think Lanka is being used a trampoline for Tamil people to jump abroad. All sorts of ways are devised by low caste/Dalit Tamil people to come to Lanka, create some upheaval, and get away to some foreign land, preferably the west. From there, they make up lies, cheat & deceit to discredit Lanka and get a slice of Lanka as Eelam. This suits various foreign powers to get what they want off Lanka.
See the article below from LankaPage :
Sri Lanka releases statistics on deaths during the war
Feb 25 (CP) Colombo- The Census and Statistics Department of Sri Lanka has released an official report on the deaths occurred in the five districts of Northern Province for the last four years of the war that ended in May 2009. According to the 80-page report on Enumeration of Vital Events-2011 released Saturday, the Department records a total of 22,329 deaths in Jaffna, Mannar, Vavuniya, Mullativu and Kilinochchi districts during the five years before the end of the conflict in May 2009 and nearly 8,000 deaths due to the fighting during the first five months of 2009. The Department had carried out the census project of Enumeration of Vital Events (EVE-2011) in the Northern Province from June 10 – August 15.
In the article above from LankaPage, the deaths happened in ‘the last 4 yrs of war’, i.e. period from 2005 to 2009. If we look at the facts, the CFA was on from 2002 till the Mavilaru incident when the President & GoSL stepped in, which was in 2008, and war with the ltte started.
So, there was no ‘war’ situation in the North at all till 2008 because of the CFA. The tsunami too happened before 2005. That leaves almost all the deaths to happen in the period 2008-2009 in the final war with the Lanka forces. Where are the some 30,000 bodies (approx. 22,000 + approx. 8,000 ltte cadre in the final days of war with ltte) … ?
Did most of them disappear abroad like the million or so Tamils after 1983 ? Are we keeping tabs on what is really going
on at our end, allowing various outside powers to weaken our own country ?
Illegal migration must stop, and all illegal migrants deported. Illegal migration is where all the troubles start.

“Are we keeping tabs on what is really going
on at our end, allowing various outside powers to weaken our own country ?” should read as :
Are we keeping tabs on what is really going on at our end ? Are we allowing various outside powers to weaken our own
country ?

Libyens aginst Gadhabi , Syrians against Syrian Regime. But against Sri Lanka only some Diaspora Tamils demontrate
in Geneva. They Demonstrate aginst Peaceful life in Sri Lanka.
They need violence and war in the name of Tamils.
They want collect money from Diaspora allover the world.
They want human Trafiking. They want Black money.
The persons who are behind above activities are same to western countries who robbed Asian countries.
There is nothing for the benefit of Sri Lankan communities or specially for Tamils.
They demontrate for inciting communual unrest in Sri Lanka.
February 26th, 2012 at 12:27 pm
Most of the facts pointed out are true. But the world is never perfect and always at any level there is a tendency to control the weak by the strong. Most of the time at international level this is done by economic or military means which may or may not be violent. The best antidote for such tendencies is self reliance, integrity and productivity. Unfortunately one do not see a high level of such conduct or attitude among the rulers and people with influence in Sri Lanka. These groups should be the first in line to remember the sacrifices of the war heroes but their action since independence from terrorism point to otherwise. Economic mismanagement seems to have resulted in a crisis in balance of payments, mainly due to corruption and imports of luxuries which the economy, dependent mainly on the efforts of blue collar workers, cannot afford. The enforcement of law and justice is arbitrary and people with influence break all kinds of law whether they be criminal, commercial, civil, environmental or any other, and to this date as during all previous governments, not a single offender has been brought to justice. Just like a family cannot progress without good values, a society cannot advance without discipline and integrity and the leaders of such a society will always be vulnerable to the dictates of external forces, sometimes simply to safeguard their own personal interests, just like with saw with JR in 1980s.

Furthermore, re statement from LankaPage : ” ….Department records a total of 22,329 deaths in Jaffna, Mannar, Vavuniya, Mullativu and Kilinochchi districts during the five years …” :
Our Dept. of Census & Stats. should take into account the influx of Tamil people in the last 5 yrs into the city of Colombo and other major cities in the country. Colombo itself had up to 55% Tamil and still has about 50% Tamil. Where did these Tamil people come from ? They have obviously come from the North mainly, and possibly some from the East as well.
With UNHRC sessions on in Geneva, figures of the ‘dead’ in the North will be plumped up by interested parties.
The so called ‘death’ toll in the North should be re-labelled as ‘disappeared’ toll, as most of the ‘dead’ have really ‘disappeared’ either into Colombo or abroad.
For most Tamil people wanting to leave Tamil Nadu, it is illegal migration into Lanka that keeps giving hopes of Eelam & migration to the west as ‘refugees’. Wake up, Lanka leaders !
February 27th, 2012 at 9:27 am
what ever our personal feelings about the ruling class we should all unite to defend our country and our leaders in this attempt to subjugate us and destroy our soverignity. we are all sri lankans what ever our differences.
February 27th, 2012 at 9:42 am
Sena has made some valuable points in his comment above.
Not sure if US are interested in “regime change” in a tiny country like Sri Lanka when it has a powerful neighbour like India.
True, US may be have slight concerns with the increasing Chinese influence but will leave it to India to pull the strings as and when required as we have recently witnessed.
The US will not go ahead with a resolution unless there was an understanding that India won’t oppose it. India is getting increasingly frustrated with the “foot dragging” in Sri Lanka and cannot continue to blindly support Sri Lanka.
It is believed India will abstain which would be a big blow to Sri Lanka having relied on Indian support to escape censure in 2009.
US draft resolution is according to many symbolic; Draft in circulation is as follows.
1. Calls on the Government of Sri Lanka to implement the constructive recommendations in the LLRC report and additionally to take immediate steps to fulfill its relevant legal obligations and stated commitment to address serious allegations of violations of international law by initiating credible and independent investigations and prosecutions of those responsible for such violations,
2. Requests that the Government of Sri Lanka present a comprehensive action plan before the 20th session of the Human Rights Council detailing the steps the Government has taken and will take to implement the LLRC recommendations and also to address alleged violations of international law,
3. Encourages the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and relevant special mandate holders to provide, and the Government of Sri Lanka to accept, advice and technical assistance on implementing those steps.
I cannot see any “demons” in the above, in fact all Sri Lankans should welcome this as having spent considerable amount of tax payers money we don’t wish this to be confined to the dustbin like the APRC.
February 27th, 2012 at 12:37 pm
It is not the job or responsibility of UNHRC to “call on GOSL” to implement LLRC!!
SL is a SOVEREIGN nation that can handle ALL internal matters. UNHRC has NO JURISDICTION over SL.
NO INDEPENDENT investigation anyway! This is the sticking point of nonsense. ABSOLUTELY not!
So GOSL MUST ACCEPT “advice”?
This is funny.
This US resolution is bloody DICTATORIAL and MUST BE DEFEATED.
This is called regime change! If GOSL cannot do whatever it likes in SL (within international LAW) that IS regime change!
February 27th, 2012 at 12:39 pm
The only regime change US MIGHT achieve in SL is to establish a military rule!
The military is more powerful than the opposition!
That will be end of all minority bullsh*t. Then who will entertain TNA? Who will entertain SLMC? Who will entertain CWC? These jokers will lose their high positions and will have to walk to army camps to beg!
February 27th, 2012 at 12:58 pm
There was a big protest against the US resolution in Jaffna too.
http://www.tamilnet.com/art.html?catid=13&artid=34925
These people have to dance to SL tune now or else…
Face the reality USA!
The more pressure on SL, the more pressure will be on Tamils in SL to toe the government line.
So who will win this tug of war? It is anybody’s guess. US pawns in SL are under our control!! We decide when and what they stand up for. Resist that and the pawns get pawned.
All thanks to 5/19.
:))
