Vaiko Agitations A Consternation For Indo -Lanka Relations As Well As An Embarrassment For India.

When the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) general secretary Vaiko on Wednesday criticised the Centre as well as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Madhya Pradesh government for inviting Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa to a function in Sanchi near Bhopal ranting thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ” President Rajapaksa is solely responsible for the genocide of innocent Tamils in Sri Lanka”, It seems fairly obvious that the man is either deluded, cannot come to terms with the realitiesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ of what transpired in Sri Lanka during the near 30 year terrorist insurgency or simply does not have the courage to admit that the troublesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in Sri Lanka were to a greater part fanned and fuelled by the likes of himself, the ethnic group heƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ belongs to supportive Indian TamilsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and the State he represents Tamil NaduƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in collusion with Sri Lankan TamilsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ pursuing secession in the form of Tamil Eelam which eventually failed miserably.

As a result of the crushing defeat inflicted on the Eelamists by President Rajapaksa and the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka who legitimately fought to preserve the Sovereignity and Territorial Integrity of Sri LankaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ with total success while also taking great care to protectƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ innocent civilians of all ethnicities including Tamils it seems ignorant for the likes of Vaiko to utter words such as ‘genocide’ as it displays rank ignorance where the practise as well as the trait is nothing new where the apathetic and misinformed man together with some of his cronies in the Tamil NaduƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ parliamentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ have been doing this for a very long time.

It is however a cause for great embarrassment for India where the circumstances involve the visit of a head of State on the invitation of theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ India authorities concernedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and as usualƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a totally misguided andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ biased, rabble rousing politician such as Vaiko who has been reprimanded on many an occassion for his excessive behaviour, is at it again.Perhaps it may be a good thing for India to strip him and similar individuals of the right to participate in active party politics as they achieve precious nothing by way of diplomacy and contribute nothing towards good and cordial relations between India and Sri Lanka where there are a few others in Tamil Nadu deserving of the same disentitlement where their greatest culpability is the support and encouragement they povide for a globally banned Terrorist entity also banned in India ~ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the Tamil Tigers, in an attempt to help them re-emerge as it appearsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ through pretentious sympathies to the Sri Lankan Tamils many of whom are quite content with the manner they have been treated and looked after by the AdministrationƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and no matter howƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Vaiko’sƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ rhetoricƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ attempts to hide it, the facts of the matter tend to stare anyone with any sense of perception in the faceƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ that this is what it reallyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ tantamounts to.

It isƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ encouraging breaking news at the presentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to know that an attemp by Vaiko and a vast throng of his supportersƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to protest at Sanchi where President Rajapaksa is due to officiate in important Buddhist ceremonies has been thwarted by the Indian Authorities and hopefully lessons will be learned and Vaiko and his ilkƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ will be curbed fromƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ their rabble rousing activities against the Sri Lankan Government in the future as it makes no sense where the goodwill between the two countries need to be further strengthened rather than disrupted.

President Rajapaksa is scheduled to participate in the foundation-laying ceremony of the International Buddhist University at Sanchi on Friday whereƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ opposition to his visit has been vociferously and reprehensibly indicated byƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the protests of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Vaiko and his ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ MDMK workers, who are said to haveƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ arrived there on Wednesday morning in several buses, and wereƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ planning to stage a protest in Sanchi against Rajapaksa over alleged atrocities on Tamils in Sri Lanka which beyond Vaiko’s rhetoric and false accusations carry no tangibilities towards justificationƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ . Part of this rhetoric suggests that President Rajapaksa is responsible not only for’ genocide ‘ against Tamils, an echo which for its convenience has been picked up by many of Sri Lanka’s adversaries globally in various important high offices including the UN.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

A somewhat ridiculous accusation co-related to Vaikos’s accusations has also surfaced that the President of Sri LankaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ has “also destroyed thousands of Hindu temples during the conflict with the Tamil tigers” which is a blatant unprovable lie.To the contrary Vaiko’s formerƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ blues eyed boys the Tamil Tigers led by Velupillai Prabhakaran destroyed many places of Buddhist worship and led a reign of terror which if it had been permitted to gain momentum would surely have been a case of genocide against the Sinhalese and other ethnicities in Sri Lanka where there is enough tangible evidence to prove this including the horrendous attrocities of murder and mayhem which was a hallmark of the Tamil Tigers.

To augment the bold nature of Vaiko and his disregard forƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ official IndianƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ authorityƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ he has been quoted as sayingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ when asked about his possible detention,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ that” he and his party workers are ready to face any action” which should be sufficient cause for the Indian Authorities to admonish him effectivelyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ for his reckless as well as irresponsible behaviour not forgetting others who fit into the same category.

There are NO LAND OR AREAS in Sri Lanka that belong EXCLUSIVELY to Tamil People.
ALL of Sri Lanka belongs EQUALLY to ALL of its people, irrespective of community.
As the Defence Secretary points out, the MAJORITY of Tamils in Sri Lanka live in the South among the Sinhalese.
Why then is the settling of Sinhala people in the North & East called “Colonization”? They are entitled as Sri Lankan citizens to settle and live ANYWHERE in Sri Lanka just as the Tamils do. We cannot have one set of its for Tamils and another restricted set of rights for non-Tamils.
These DEMANDS REFLECT the Racist, Apartheid Aparthieid attitudes of Greedy Selfish Eelamists who want to have their Exclusive Cake in the North and EAT an EQUAL Share of Cake of the Sinhalese also.
Such Selfish Racist DEMANDS cannot be Accomodated in Sri Lanka, whatever the jaundiced “international community” may say! We will not ALLOW the creation of a patchwork of Apartheid Bantustans in Sri Lanka.
Tamils should adjust to living as EQUAL citizens of Sri Lanka without DEMANDING for SPECIAL RIGHTS UNAVAILABLE to OTHER Sri Lankan citizens.
The “INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY” should recognize the RACIST INTOLERANT UNDEMOCRATIC SEPARATIST character of Tamil Eelamist demands and NOT PANDER TO THEM!

Defence Sec. dismisses TNA claims

Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said yesterday that Tamil speaking people living in the Northern and Eastern Provinces were free now.
Tamil people appreciated the ongoing accelerated development programme in war devastated districts. The international community was appreciative of the post-war recovery process, the Defence Secretary said, alleging that despite all that an attempt was still being made to portray a bleak picture.
The international community should realize that those making unsubstantiated allegations against the GoSL today remained silent to Tiger atrocities as long as they felt the LTTE could achieve its military objectives, he said. The government welcomed senior representatives of the international community seeing the ground situation and raising contentious issues with relevant authorities. “We don’t have anything to hide. In fact, those alleging state sponsored colonization in the Northern and Eastern Provinces are mum on people driven out of their villages during the war by the LTTE,” the Defence Secretary said. They were also silent about large number of Tamils from a North and East freely settling down in a South, he said.
Rajapaksa recalled how the LTTE detained even local UN staff and prevented their families from seeking refuge during the Vanni offensive. The official expressed confidence that the international community would examine the post-war situation.
The Defence Secretary was responding to a spate of allegations made by the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) at a meeting it had with a visiting UN delegation.

Subinay Nandy was also present. The TNA delegation comprised R Sampanthan, Mavai Senathirajah, Suresh Premachandran, Selvam Adaikalanathan, P Selvarajah and M A Sumanthiran, Members of Parliament.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the TNA said: “Amongst the matters discussed were land issues relating to security zones, particularly Valikamam and Sampur where the displaced people have not been able to resettle, their lands being taken over for military purposes, lands being taken over ostensibly for development purposes and on which, persons of the majority community are being settled, cultural and religious places being denied to the Tamil people, issues relating to demilitarization, disappearances, detenues, changes in the demographic composition in the North and the East, accountability and the evolution of an acceptable political solution. The question of whether the Sri Lankan government is unequivocally committed to the implementation of the recommendations of the LLRC and the resolution adopted by the UNHRC at its sessions in March 2012 were also discussed.”

Vaiko is a product of the Caste structured Politics of Tamil Nadu. Whilst Jayalalitha & K’naidhi come from the “upper layers”, V. comes from the “lower layers”. No doubt, when it comes to Lanka, V. must be doing what he does with the blessings of the ‘upper layers’. The “upper layer” is busy tussling with Lanka over K’tivu right now, illegal fishing, etc.
Some of Tamil Nadu politics re Sri Lanka are an embarrassment to India and dangerous to both India and Sri Lanka.

India, as the nation that trained, delivered, funded and supported Tamil terrorists in Sri Lanka, and bullied and invaded our Motherland with the IPKF to partition it in favor of Tamil separatists, has MUCH TO ATONE FOR to win Sri Lanka’s traditional friendship and love for India.
Supporting UN War Crimes charges, and pressuring Sri Lanka to devolve power to ethnic minorities on communal racial, religious, caste, or sex bases is NOT THE WAY TO DO IT. All PATRIOTIC Sri Lankans RESENT those moves.
As a nation that injured Sri Lanka initiating, aiding and abetting a 30-year conflict between communities that killed 150,000 citizens of Sri Lanka, India has NO STANDING in Sri Lankan eyes to interfere in our INTERNAL MATTERS with proposals for devolution of power to separatist Tamils designed to further EMBED and EXACERBATE communal divisions within our country. We Sri Lankans will oppose such devolution of power on communal bases body and soul.
We do not accept either India’s, or the United States, FEDERAL models as capable of promoting social amity and national stability. In India that system has largely failed to preserve peace and to uplift all Indians equally. We in Sri Lanka have an enviable record of social justice unmatched by India. Therefore, it is preposterous for India to imagine that it is qualified to offer meaningful suggestions for the governance of Sri Lanka.
Instead, India should follow Sri Lanka’s example and uplift its people with equity in employment, education, healthcare, land ownership, etc on the basis of NEED only without regard to communal attributes (eg. scheduled castes etc). India should CEASE & DESIST from PLACATING RACIST DEMAGOGUES in Tamil Nadu for gaining political advantages at Sri Lanka’s expense.
If India CONSISTENTLY does that, and controls the Racist Demogogues of Tamil Nadu so that they will not pose a threat to Sri Lanka, India will regain Sri Lanka as its most reliable and supportive ally in the region.
India needs to understand that it cannot bully Sri Lanka to act against its own national interests and security with overt or covert threats, pandering to Eelamist Tamils, and collaborating with the US agenda at the UN. That will only make us MORE insecure, and drive Sri Lanka in search of protection deeper into the arms of India’s enemies.
It is up to India to WIN the HEARTS & MINDS of ALL Sri Lankans, not just Sri Lankan Tamils, with a STRICT policy of NON-INTERFERENCE in Sri Lanka’s internal matters, RESPECTI our national sovereignty, and FRIENDLY interactions in trade, regional security and our shared culture.
