‘Traitorous elements dormant for three years back to their old game’

President Mahinda Rajapaksa said the country which the terrorists failed to divide, would not be allowed to be divided by others through alternate means.
ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-After failing to divide the country through terrorism if any one thinks he or she could do so by any other means it is only a daydream,ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ the President said.
He said the Security Forces liberated the country which was on the verge of being divided by terrorists after making many sacrifices and no force will be allowed to divide the motherland by any means.
President Rajapaksa recalled how treacherous elements among us launched a massive campaign against the country for dollars when the Security Forces were fighting with one of the most ruthless terrorist outfits in the world.
Speaking at the National Conference of War Heroes Forum at Temple Trees yesterday, the President said these treacherous individuals, paid in dollars, are trying to bring the Security Forces before the war crimes tribunal for liberating the country.
President Rajapaksa distributed three wheelers among Security Forces personnel who became disabled in their endeavour to free the country from terrorists.
He also presented artificial limbs and crutches to disabled soldiers. Selected schoolchildren and university entrants of War Heroes’ families received scholarships from the President.
President Rajapaksa said no person will suffer misery if he is dedicated to the service of the country.
The President said the government started recruiting youths to the Security Forces to free the country from terrorists and diplomats of many countries questioned their role after terrorism was wiped out from the country.
President Rajapaksa said the government did not hedge when youths were recruited to the Security Forces to ensure the country’s safety and freedom.
He said members of the Security Forces are given more facilities after the war on terrorism was ended.
The President said the government is committed towards the protection and uplift of War Heroes’ families.
President Rajapaska said Security Forces personnel have been contributing towards the development of the country with the end of war.
He said the government allocated Rs 289 billion for the Defence Ministry during 2013.
The President said many programmes have been launched to ensure that the War Heroes and their families are well looked after. He said the Security Forces were in the forefront in the battle against terrorists to ensure a better tomorrow for the future generation. “They fought for the children who are to be born ,” he said.
The President also added that the children of War Heroes’ families have easy access to popular schools. Many facilities and concessions have been made available for the children and family member of the Security Forces.
The government has provided houses to the War Heroes . The War Heroes who do not possess their own lands were also provided lands by the government.
Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Ranaviru Seva Authority chairperson Padma Wettewa were also present.
