The Tamil National Alliance seems reminiscent of the camel who pleaded with his master to stick its head in the tent during a storm and eventually gained control of its entirety to push out its master. Sounds like the price the Government of Sri Lanka is in the process of paying considering who the TNA really are and none but another pseudo representation of the now defunct and hopefully never to re- emerge Tamil Tigers, the LTTE.

Given the common global as well as national cognizance that this group was predominantly supportive of the LTTE and even today are at times so boldƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ so as to not hide their empathy towards the terror group, one wonders how in heaven’s name they gained acces to the parliament when the Government had every right to deny them legitimacy. It appears as though the tolerance and pragmatism of Sri Lanka’s Ruling Party may eventually have a price to pay for this grave Faux Pas which in all probabiklities need to be remedied and the TNA outlawed from participating in politics in Sri Lanka based simply on their unabashed sympathies with the LTTE or face the consequence of the worst case scenario of another resurgence of the LTTE !

It is also sometimes clear that the President of Sri Lanka is not exactly head over heels in love with this apparently Nation unfriendly group but continues to tolerate them to appease world opinion that they are the representatives of the Tamil Community in Sri Lanka but that becomes a misnomer if one takes into consideration some of their surreptitious activities which point clearly towards where their sympathies are and high time perhaps that the remedial action towards quelling their inroads into the smooth functioning of Sri Lanka began in earnest! There is also the other deciding factor which disentitles them to tolerance as there are many Tamils within the country who want no part of their representation on the basis of their LTTE sympathies.

The stand taken by the Tamil National Alliance(TNA) to present a case against Sri Lanka at the forthcoming UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) sessions in Geneva is not onlyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a mere continuation of their pattern of ‘ politics ‘ but also a clear example of their intent to antagonize and discredit the GOSL at every available opportunityƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and fast becoming an aggravation from many perspectives to the smooth functioning and the well being of Sri Lanka whereƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  presenting issues against Sri Lanka at every UN session has been the practice of this political party for so many years to which they have no real entitlementƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ at all!!.

Quoting a recent news item which is the salient reality relative to the TNAƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  in the words of a prominent politician “They presented a case against Sri Lanka at the UNHRC sessions last year. They will continue to attack Sri Lanka backed by certain NGOs that are hostile to the present Government as usual.
They are a political party that is happy to see political problems in the country unresolved and to the contrary compounded!. They will base their case against Sri Lanka with their usual complaint that Sri Lanka has not adequately implemented recommendations of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission Report (LLRC). They are preparing to support another possible US-sponsored resolution against the country.It has always been the case with the TNA that they stayed aloof from any processes that are meant to find answers to the national question. They abstained from participating in a Parliamentary Select Committee process, which was mandated to find a solution to the national problem within six months, which was proposed by the President,”ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ as explained by this politicianƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and in the context of these explanations the TNA are none but aƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ group of rabble rousers with no intent to contribute towards the well being of the Nation and perhaps with disdain and resentment over the loss of their champions the LTTE they continue their merry way where all the gullibles around the world believe their codswallop failing to see the realƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ intent behind their activities and rhetoric.

The TNA seem to have also failed to realise that whilst calling for their brand of recommendations regardless of their contentiousnessƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  or veracity ~ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ some recommendations of the LLRC report cannot be implemented without legislative consensus and constitutional changes as pointed out by some legislators.
And to add to their chagrin as further pointed out~ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ it is also a stark reality thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ TNA has zero impact since all Western superpowers are hellbent on punishing Sri Lanka with or without the TNA’sƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ barkingsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  for all the wrong reasons of which the bleatings and concocted presentations by enemies of the state cleverly devised and designed to impress and draw sympathy seem to be having the desired effect albeit in avery case the furthest from the truth due to lack of tanginbility!

The concept that ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the implementation of the LLRC as evaluated by the countries foremost legislators as well as legal experts becomes irrefutable that it has no bearing on the overall scheme of things beneficial to Sri Lanka because the decision toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ take Sri Lanka to task was taken by Western countries cajoled by the Tamil Diaspora and LTTE sympathisers around the worldƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ever since the dismatling of the LTTE terrorists.
Even during the process of so duing The GOSL arguably and perhaps justifiably turned down a request byƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ those demanding it ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to halt its military operation against the LTTE terrorists indicative of the multi faceted agendas that surrounded the demands which pointed to none other than Tamil Tiger sympathy which from a Sri Lanka standpoint was unthinkable as it involved the unitarity and security of the nation as a whole!

So why areƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the Western countries thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ are fuelled by TNA zealotry unwilling to visualize the most visible reality of Sri Lanka’s non culpability where there is not a shred of tangible evidence towards it beyond speculation and conjecture. The true attrocities were committed by the terrorists and the nation was protectrd from themƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ through the legitimate actions of the Armed Forces yet the West does not want to concede this due to the varied agendas refered to previously. Is it not about time they wereƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ honest about their conduct and be shamefaced thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ they shouldƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ attempt toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ punish the Government of Sri lanka whose actions were unprecedented, praised globally, has restored a lasting peace to the Nation and are even being emulated by other countriees with similar terrorist problems?

In time the transparencies of the TNA and their disentitlement to political recognition will be exposed but until this happens they will continue to be the antagonists they are towards the Government of Sri Lanka and the peace loving people irrespective of ethnicityƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  who vehemently discredit the TNA as harbingers of disruption and are not a beneficial organization towards the well being of Sri lanka who should not have been admitted into parliamentary politics unless they disowned their ties with the LTTE and related sympathies while taking an oath of allegiance towards upholding the principles of Sri Lanka’s democratic policies and progress.
