During the past couple of weeks Lanka Web published so many articles complaining about the US, Western governments,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The BBC Channel4ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and Indian attitude towards Sri Lanka in the coming UNHRC session. This has happened before and it seemsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ all we can do is toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ complain about it.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Sri Lankan government was humiliated at the last UNHCR session, especially by the India’s betrayal and had months to prepare for this session. But the government, especially the foreign ministry seems to be incompetent to do any thing positive about it .What is the British PR firm hired at an enormous cost doing about it?
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The government should have been proactive months ago and prepared for this event. It seems all the government can do is to complain the “Killing fields” videosƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ areƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ fakes. If those videos are authentic, they were recorded by soldiers who were involved in those operations and the government should tell the UNHCR to to give the information of those who recorded those incidents. If the UNHCR is serious of those “alleged” war crimes, it should supply the necessary information to the Sri Lankan government to conduct a proper inquiry and act accordingly.
