Only thing the President Mahinda Rajapakse did………with determination and confidence.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Only thing the President Mahinda Rajapakse did with determination, and with confidence to face the consequences was the elimination of Terrorists.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ After that whatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ happened to the President and his governmentƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢sƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ determination to doƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ what theyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ think is rightƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and what happened to their ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ confidence to face the consequences ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ theirƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ acts which they believe is correct ?
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ After that ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the President became cautious.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He acted to please the West, escape being accused for violation of human rights at the UNHuman Rights Council. HeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Suffers the indignities of a Navineetham Piilai a biased Tamil woman trying to take revenge for imagined violation of the human rights of our own Tamil people.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The President is unsure not of his actions but of how his opponentsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ would react to his actions.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He wanted to please India, and did not want to take any action to antagonise India.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He allowed India to open a Consular Office in the North and in the South.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He allowed USA to open a USCenter in the North.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He went all out to develop the North and East that had never seen the like of such developments before or after Independence.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He was hoping the Tamils in the North and the East will show gratitude.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But do they ?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He should perhaps have slowed down the unparalleled development process in the North and East.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He said he would implement not only the 13 Amendment but give the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 13 plus.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ TNA who took an oath of Allegiance to the constitution continuously acted in breach of the constitution which is punishable under law.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But the Government has not reacted.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ TNA on many occasionƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ breached and continues to breach the Article 157 A of the constitution of Sri Lanka. Which reads, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- [157A. (1) No person shall, directly or indirectly, in or outside Sri Lanka, support, espouse, promote, finance, encourage or advocate the establishment of a separate State within the territory of Sri Lanka.
(2) No political party or other association or organization shall have as one of its aims or objects the establishment of a separate State within the territory of Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚
In view of the fact the Government stands inactive in the face of such evident violation of the constitution by the TNA,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Jayantha Liyanage of Sinhala Jathika Peramuna filed a FR case against the TNA for the breach of the relevant article in the Constitution.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But the Supreme court of Sri Lanka refused to hearƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the case.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
The Honourable judge Shirani Tilakewardane before whom this case against the TNA was to be heard, did not take the trouble even to verify whether there was in fact a breach of the Constitution, but asked the Plaintiff to withdraw the case requesting him to live in peace with all communities, but the Judge Shirani Tillekewardena did not extend the same advice to the TNA the defendant. Why ?
Now the American Ambassador Michelle Sison is openly ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ interfering in to the internal affairs of the Government andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ makesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ statements critical of Sri Lanka to the press.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Sri Lanka Foreign Minister has the right to call her and warn her against her undiplomatic activities she has started which hamper the reconciliation processes. The Diplomats in Sri Lanka should be requested to restrict themselves to their diplomatic activities and nothing else.
The President has his Executive powers which he has not so far utilised. He should perhaps use them to clamp down on rising evil in the country. Azath Salley should not have been released before making a complete investigation. President ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ should go ahead with settlement of Sinhala IDPs in the North, and start new Sinhala Settlements. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Army Camps should not be disbanded or number of soldiers in the North and East should not be reduced to please the demands made by foreign governments andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ human rights activists.
The Muslims are our people but they are being manipulated by foreign religious fanatics.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The President should issue orders for the Muslims to respect all religions while enjoying their freedom of observing their faith.
Thesavalamai is against reconciliation and that law should be removed.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ There should be feasibility tests beforeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ undertaking a project.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ There was a report , ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-The Govt will seek US $ 2.5 billion or Rs.320 billion through another loan to set up a new oil refinery in Sri Lanka, Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa declared. ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-This will help us save monies spent on imported refined fuel,ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ he said. He said that the only refinery at Sapugaskanda is not suitable to refine some varieties of crude oil.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
The world is in ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ an economic crisis therefore Sri Lanka should be cautious in undertaking new projects.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is better to hold up development for some time to assure that the financial situation improves and the interest payments on loans etc; will not have a detrimental effect on the economy.
The President should not hold the elections in the North until the situation with regard to the settlement ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sinhala IDPs and attitude of the TNA has changed.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Perhaps it would not be a bad idea to ban all Political Parties with a ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Communal ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-labelƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ and recognise only the Political Parties which are for all Communities, so that the Tamil, Sinhala, and Muslim will be either in the socialist Parties or the Capitalist Parties.

Making Tamils a MINORITY in the north is the ONLY way forward.

Thank you, Mr. Charles Perera! for this article, which most Sri Lankans in & abroad will love to demand from Our President to act forthwith.
Article 157A. should have benn implemented years ago or at least, no sooner the war ended. By delaying or Procrastinating nothing significant will happen, but our enemies, Tamil Diaspora, and other countries who still could not get rid of terrrism in their soil, have time to orgainse & be little Sri Lanka.
If at least few individuals are brought before the courts & punished for breaking the law, many of the ppresent problems with minorities would not have taken place.
As usual a concerned expat from Canada expressing his views……One Country, One leader, indivisible & strong!!!…..May the Noble triple gems guide & bless our paradse………J

The BBS-WW affair was started by WW.
BBS retaliated. Now both should stop and target our COMMON ENEMIES (TEs and Jihadists).

Charles and others,
TNA wants 100,000 SL Tamilians in TN refugee camps to vote at the north election!
This is a VERY dangerous thing. 80,000 more votes for TNA!! Govt. CANNOT canvass in TN but TNA can!! IF we allow this, soon the Toilet Diaspora will also get voting rights in SL affairs!!
This is WHAT Karunanidhi and other Tamil racists demanded from UNHRC and Endia – hold a referendum on TE among ALL Tamilians including Toilet Diaspora!! Step by step the racists are trying to get there.
Do you see what I see?
We have to stop this madness.

I believe the president’s attitude will change after the CHOGM. Quite correctly this is not the time to antagonise the leaders of those countries who sympathise with and seek the support of the TamilL Diaspora.I think it is important to get those leaders to Sri Lanka and show them what the government has done for the people in the north and east in a such a short period and the rapid development that is taking place all over the country.Certainly a successful conference will attract more foreign investment and more tourist to the country.

A comment on Sarath W’s opinion.
“I believe the president’s attitude will change after the CHOGM.”
That is like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted. Have you forgotten that the Northern elections are scheduled for September??
“I think it is important to get those leaders to Sri Lanka and show them what the government has done for the people in the north ”
Do you think they do not know? Their Embassies are not here ‘to scrape coconuts’
It is not about building roads and maerial infrastructures, it is about dong as they are telling the government to do. That is what the two Geneva verdicts were all about.
“Certainly a successful conference will attract more foreign investment and more tourist to the country.”
That is what Sirima B thought about the Non Aligned conference. Just one year later she was thrown out lock stock and barrel.
Politicians are not the investors. Investors have more brains.

Charles, you’re spot-on “ The President is unsure not of his actions but of how his opponents would react to his actions” and I’m on the same wave length as Sarath W that “the president’s attitude will change after the CHOGM”.
The facts are SL is a small and economically weak and most of our leaders in the government are there for the Rewards and not for their Responsibilities towards the Nation and People !
However, I’m cynically optimistic that MR will rid the 13A at the Right time and bring postive progress to SL. In the meanwhile, patience and perseverance are required at this moment by its people.

The President must realise that Sri Lanka is more important than him or his presidency. Sri Lankans must realise that Sri Lanka is more important than his presidency. All must realise that it is Sri Lanka that needs upholding. This is what Wimal Weerawansa and even Bodu Bala Sena must realise. All together must succeed in saving Sri Lanka from disintegrating.
Right now we have the rare opportunity of having the 2/3 majority in the parliament. All these years the politicians lamented that they did not have the power to carryout the necessary reforms with out this all encompassing factor the 2/3rd majority. In the same way President and his A-team decided not to pass on the terrorist war legacy to another generation, they need to finish what they started off in the first place.
Sri Lankans are well informed and they know what it entails to go against the machinations of the Christian West and their lap dog – India. It is time for Sri Lanka and her leadership to take an assertive role and do what needs to be done for the sake of Mother Lanka and our future generations. We are a proud nation and we should remain proud and undefeated in front of the family of nations.
Yes, as the eminent patriot S L Gunasekara says, we need to first dissolve the Provincial System of government; that is before denying the powers and perks of Provincial System of administration to the Separatists – we need to do the homework first by doing away with the accursed system in the rest of the provinces. Just reducing the powers of the Provincial Assemblies will not do as one can lead to another and before we know – Eelam can become a fact with active involvement of the Christian West and India.
It is time for the President to take the nation into his confidence instead of the Christian Church and the traitorous Colombians. It is time for the President to think first of the country and the nation before himself, his family and the friends! If he leaves the job half done, it would be tantamount to the greatest betrayal in Sri Lanka’s history. For over 2500 years we have managed to stay as one geographical and political entity. If he falters now it will be the end of Sri Lanka and Sinhalese as race for all time!

Thank you Mr Charles Perera for this analysis highlighting the current situation in SriLanka. However, we cant blame the President for succumbing somewhat to Western pressure, because today’s norm is “might is right” and countries like the USA and former colonial powers like the UK and some EU nations have ganged up together and are able to dictate terms to the rest of the world, through economic sanctions or R2P invasions. Any human rights violation by these nations go unchallenged within the UN, and those NGOs like the AI and HRW who works overtime fabricating allegations against SriLanka, simply look the other way. To make matters worse, there are opportunists within SriLanka working for their own benefit through stooging these Western powers and making intervention in SriLankan internal affairs even easier for these powerful nations. Therefore, President MR would do well to ensure as many leaders as possible attend the CHOGAM meeting as such exposure would give the visiting leaders an opportunity to get first hand information and experience on the political and human rights situation in the country. A successful CHOGAM would be a very big blow to those who have been releasing distorted information about SriLanka and they will not give up trying to sabotage this meeting. Already the Canadian Govt has lost its independence to these dark forces operating within Canada.

Thank you Charles for the comprehensive analysis of GoSL INaction after thrashing the terrorists. Hope what you have written will wake up the GoSL from its deep slumber since the War!! I too was extremely disappointed when no positive action was taken by the Judiciary to your very valid legal representations against the TNA. Although I do not yet fully understand the utter reluctance to do the needful since the War victory, this inaction will eventually end up in history as a pointless sacrifice for nothing by so many IF the essential follow up action that you and others are crying out for, are not taken. The President and others appear to have gone utterly impotent to fearlessly do the right thing after successful prosecution of the War. What a waste!! – s de Silva – London

Thanks, Charles, for a thought provoking write up.

Let us bear in mind that Pres. MR & GoSL have inherited a very negative set of problems from past Colonisations (ethnic balance was upset forever from Dutch & British times), plus Cold War side effects & some actions of various past GoSLs, particularly allowing ltte rule with Norway for N&E. The President and GoSL have come through well for a tiny Nation shattered by past insurrections & terrorism (JVP & ltte).
Let’s keep our heads cool and identify & fight the common enemy which is the 13-A. How do we get rid of that ? Right now, preparations for the CHOGM is in the way. Prepare well and be strong in mind set that the 13-A must go, CHOGM or no CHOGM. Bear in mind that the Brits are the best in the world for geopolitical games. The ‘divide & rule’ principle has never failed them. BBS, please note this.
Use this simple motto for these times : UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL ! Find ways to Remove the 13-A and don’t get side tracked by other issues. In removing the 13-A, each of us must ask ourselves ‘am I for removal for the 13-A’ ? Q&A yourself and stand by your decision. Our ‘enemies’ will try to find ways to divide us and use us.
Hope this helps not to waste time and energy on useless things that divide us.
