Indo-Lanka Accord: Sri Lanka’s ‘Finlandisation’
Posted on July 29th, 2013
Janaka Perera
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ July 29-30 marks the 26th year of Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s virtual ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”FinlandisationƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ by India. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Lest some readers wonder what this term means it refers to FinlandƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s subservience to the Soviet Union during the Cold War.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ (In other words a powerful country arrogating itself to the position of dictating policy to a smaller neighbour)
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The day after President J.R. Jayewardene under duress – and under cover of a full-day curfew – signed the Indo-Lanka Accord and Naval Rating Vijitha Rohana, accorded Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi an ignominious ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”welcomeƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ with a rifle butt the Indian ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”Peace KeepingƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ Force landed in Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Tamils here who were unaware of what was in store for them within months were happy to see them.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The term IPKF was however a misnomer since ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”peaceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ is exactly what it failed to keep. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Instead of totally disarming the LTTE the Indians thought they could tame the Tigers and pacify Tamil Nadu racists, who in Indian politics have always been a tail trying to wag the dog. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ This was DelhiƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s fatal blunder that claimed the lives not only of Indian soldiers but also eventually that of Rajiv Gandhi.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Neither had the 13th Amendment (introduced to the Sri Lankan Constitution under the Accord) a peopleƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s mandate nor was it allowed to be debated in Parliament. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Needless to say Delhi twisted the ColomboƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s arm into having the Parliament ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”approveƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ the Amendment. Government MPs were given rooms in a tourist hotel their own safety
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Prime Minister Ranasinghe Premadasa and National Security Minister Lalith Athulathmudali boycotted the July 29th ceremonies and Health Minister Gamini Jayasuriya resigned from the Government in protest.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ There was a massive and violent outcry against the Accord which paved the way for a second brutal insurgency in the South. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The whole country plunged into a blood bath all because of Indian meddling.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Instead of allowing the Sri Lankan Government to finish off the LTTE in 1987, DelhiƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s bullying, supported by bogus peaceniks, prolonged the war for another 22 years. It allowed the Tigers to grow in strength and consequently caused the loss of thousands of more lives both in the North and the South. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In the eyes of many Tamils the IPKF became the abbreviation for ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”Indian People Killing Force.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Accord created only discord.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It paved the way for EPRLF leader Varatharaja Perumal to declare unilateral ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”independenceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ from Sri Lanka, though the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”independenceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ did not last long since Prabhakaran wanted no competitors. But the self-proclaimed international community has not demanded that India be held accountable for these crimes.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Shortly after the Indian Peace Keeping Force left the shores of Sri Lanka in early 1990, the late Deputy Defence Minister, General Ranjan Wijeratne gave an interview to the now-defunct Sinhala monthly Kalpana (May 1990). ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Asked to comment on the then Indian Deputy High CommissionerƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s claim that the IPKF had accomplished the task of protecting Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s unity and territorial integrity, Gen. Wijeratne said:ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-The IPKF came here to disarm young Sri Lankan militants.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But what they did was to give back their weapons to them before leaving Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The occurrence of clashes between the LTTE and the EPRLF is a result of the Indian ArmyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s presence.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In fact we can say that the Indian Army made a mess of it. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Instead of taking back the surrendered weapons with them they gave them to people here.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Fifty years ago during our school days we were taught four factors that impacted Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s history due to its geographical location. They were (1) Sri Lanka being in the middle of the Indian Ocean (2) Sri Lanka being just next to India (3) yet separated from India and (4) being far away from all other Indian Ocean countries except India.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ We however failed to realize at the time it is this geography ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” and not language or any other issue – that would prove to be the strongest root of a terrorist problem in the years to come.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ A retired Sri Lankan Naval Officer who wishes to remain anonymous said that when former President J.R. Jayewardene was asked in private why he signed the Accord JRJ had likened his action to the quick-thinking of man who is about to be stabbed. With one hand he thwarts the attack and with the other shakes the assailantƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s hand! ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ If the President had not done it there was no question that Delhi would have annexed Sri Lanka to the Indian Union or made this country an Indian protectorate. There was no better indication of this motive than the Indian Air Force violating Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s airspace.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Among the biggest misfortunes of the Accord is that it has brought to the fore intellectual frauds, traitors, crackpots and self-proclaimed anti-war crusaders who branded the Sri Lankan military Tamil killers equal to the Nazis who killed Jews.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The peaceniks peddled political ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”solutionsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ that ranged from federalism and power-sharing with the LTTE to recognizing the Tigers as a Liberation Movement and their right to self-determination. All these dubious campaigns were well-funded. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Everyone who opposed these ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”solutionsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ was branded a Sinhala Chauvinist fool ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”dreamingƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ of defeating Prabhakaran.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ These are the real foreign-backed war criminals that misled successive governments into farcical ceasefires and ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”peace talksƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ none of which succeeded in ending the conflict but made it a lucrative business for NGO crooks some of whom have now fled Sri Lanka.

I disagree with this part only.
“If the President had not done it there was no question that Delhi would have annexed Sri Lanka to the Indian Union or made this country an Indian protectorate.”
NO WAY! Endia could not have done that. The world tolerated Endian invasion because SL DID NOT protest. Had SL REFUSED it would be a different story.
LTTE leaders had FAR MORE intelligence than JR in 1987. They being a smaller group RdEJECTED Endian dirt. Thank G~d for that! Lousy SL govt. obeyed to Endian invasion.
USA was waiting to punish Endia for being pro-Soviet. Had SL REFUSED to sign the deal and claimed it an Endian invasion the world would NOT have kept silent, particularly the US that was LOOKING FOR REASONS to punish Endia.
Air drop was justified to the international community saying people were starving.
SL DID NOT COMPLAIN to the UN about it strong enough! I don’t think SL complained to the UN and UN security council at all!!! That was on June 4. Endia took advantage of this silence and invaded SL on July 26.
July 29th, 2013 at 1:58 pm
In 1990 SL protested. Then SL was in a WEAKER position than 1987. HORRENDOUS human rights record. Endian army established in SL. North and east merged. An Endian ruling the north and east.
BUT when SL protested Endia shut up and left!!
Even the LTTE defeated the Endians. We NEVER wanted to defeat the Endians or Endian interests in SL. We can’t defeat Endia but we can WIPE OUT Endian interests in the island which is the ONLY way to control Endia.
IF something very bad happens to Endian interests in SL, Tamil Madu will go crazy and Endian unity will be at risk.

Thank you Janaka Perera………Its a fine article, HOPE our other Sri Lankans, both in Lanka & expat community read this & join hands to protest against 13 amendment & Indian interference in Lankan affairs.
Involvement in Lanka, saying that they (Indians ) are concerned about well being of Tamils, is a FAKE argument to keep Sri Lanka, under their FIST, just to get as much as possible leverage in domestic & other international affairs of our vountry.
Even our present President is somewhat relucatant to take immediate STEPS to distance ourselves from Indian MENACE.
It is time for patriotic Lankans everywhere to DEMAND, INDIA keep her hands away from Sri Lankan affairs. If they like Tamils so much, WHY NOT give them assitance to relocate to India, as ONCE our late Sir John Kotelawala suggested to NEHRU, the then Indian Prime Minister.
Our politicians are all hell bent on lining their own pockets, making pronouncements, BUT action wise very little happens re: India & her naked aggression to a neighbour who is very small & not militaryly sound as India.
It time to speak out NOW & get involved………..Thanks you again Sir………Another expat from Canada expressing his two cents worth……~ GOD bless SriLanka…~ J

This article makes it clear that Sri Lanka has to determine it’s own future or face the bias of other nations doing that job for Sri Lanka. Many have commented of the “insignificance” of Sri Lanka based on her size. But a nation, regardless of her landmass, is judged by her people and not the size of the land.
That goes for Israel that stands at seven thousand square miles but is the power house of the Middle East. That also goes for Singapore which is only 127 Square miles but is one of the major financial centers of the world. One can even included the Vatican at .2 Square miles but is the titular head of one Billion Catholics and a nation.
Sri Lanka lost a lot during the 30 year war which ranks in length with the ancient historic Peloponnesian wars of ancient Greece which also lasted 30 years but unlike Sri Lanka’s civil war had roughly about 10 years of peace. The civil war of Sri Lanka is no less important for it included all the major players of the region: India, Sri Lanka, The Tamil Tigers, RAW, Pakistan, and China and after the war it also included Russia and the United States.
When Cho En Lai was asked by a journalist what are the effects of the French Revolution which took place in the 18th century, Cho En Lai replied “it is too early to say” and that was in the 1950’s. Already in just a span of four years Sri Lanka had to face the rise of TESO(Tamil Eelam Supporters Org). Two human rights violations, the new funding of LITE by the Tamil Diaspora, constant invasions by Tamil Fishermen to the mute silence of New Delhi, and an never ending stream of accusations of ill treatment meted against the Sri Lankan Tamils by the military and going by this things will get worse before it gets better. The effects of this war will continue to shape the region for many years if not decades and it is for this reason that Sri Lanka has to be a key player in the decision making process or India will do it for Sri Lanka…again.
I just watched the movie “Pi” where the characters were Tamil, partly filmed in Tamil Nadu though the family name was Patel. I found myself angry even thought the movie was extremely well done. The anger was that the Tamil Diaspora are using their culture to paint a picture of a highly civilized people (regardless of the horrors of the Caste system) being brutalized by an unknown people called the Singhalese.. and Western nations are buying this hook line and sinker.
If Sri Lanka is to win the “diplomatic war” waged by India, Tamil Nadu, The Tamil National Alliance to the Tamil Diaspora Sri Lanka has to take the offensive stand and not the defensive. Every time any nation accuses Sri Lanka of those human rights violations demand that they prove it and not settle for a B rated video but ground analysis of really how many died and why. If they cannot or will not do this then dismiss them for their unfair accusations. Take a stronger stand on those in India who have committed crimes against humanity by supporting the Tamil Tigers while they are free. Demand the UNHRC to bring them to international justice. Drag out the Caste system and make it stick each and every time human rights are brought up. In other words fight back diplomatically in the same manner that ended the war. Now that Sri Lanka has a broad based alliance with China take on India blow for blow till India relents.
One must remember India gambled heavily on winning this war and lost big time and is still losing. India is in no position to dictate anything to Sri Lanka unless Colombo relents. Now that the war was ended by the Singhalese army defeating India’s proxy army the tables are turned. New Delhi is paranoid that her concept of the “string of pearls” is coming true. Then make it true if India does not back off.
July 29th, 2013 at 4:30 pm
I agree with Lorenzo.
“Endian Envasion” is a myth an will remain a myth. Simply Endians are not capable of invading another land.
Endian Army is a bunch of rapists ready to unleash their dirty little guns on women. That is all they can do. When real fighters arrive, they run.
In a way I am proud of LTTE that they defeated Rapist Army. Common man’s dictator Premadasa knew how to defeat the Rapist Army.
There is no point accusing Endian RapeLand.
Chase them out of SL completely. Shoot all the Fishermen invading our land. Bring Endia to international courts for raping Tamil women and for killing fields they created after Rape Lanka Accord. Rajiv already received death penalty and long gone. Ask for US$100bn compensation in the proper way. Endia rapists will die of fear. What we need is a brave leader.
July 29th, 2013 at 4:53 pm
Wejemunige Vijitha Rohana should be awarded a National Hero Status on National Heroes Day.
He was the only brave Sinhalaya to what the idiot on the head. The nation should be proud of him. What did MR do on that day ? I can’t even remember.
Compare Wejemunige Rohana with Mervyn Silva, the president’s pet.
July 29th, 2013 at 7:34 pm
SG,
I wouldn’t for Rohana. He attacked Sinhalese instead of the Endians!!
He was like a wrongly wired terminator attacking the WRONG people.
But I salute that NAVY HERO. OMG! So proud of him.
He hammered Rajiv. UNFORTUNATELY it didn’t hit Rajiv’s head properly. Others MUST HAVE joined him to bash Rajiv to death. People would have celebrated (Christmas in July!!) and the whole world would have known the TRUTH.
That would have ENDED the Endian invasion in 1987. Or a soldier must have had a LOADED GUN and Rajiv would be history. Or at least he should have had a concealed knife.
This is why SL needs a POWERFUL INDEPENDENT VIGILANTE group that looks after national interests.
Israel has. These groups arouse nationalist feelings among Jews. Sometime back an Israeli PM tried to sign a peace deal with Palestinians. He went for some meeting where a young boy shot him dead! That was the end of his peace (PIECE) plan. Simple but effective solutions.
According to some reports Mosssad is behind Rajiv busting. Endia (pro-Soviet) wanted SL to stop all dealings with Israel (pro-US) which angered Israel. Whoever did it well done!!
After that lesson Endia did not interfere with SL for 10 years!!
What SL should do is this.
1. Print millions of leaflets DEMANDING Tamil is made an official language, Tamil PM for Endia, Tamil independence, Tamil self determination, Tamil soverignty from Endia and distribute them in TN.
2. Have an illegal broadcasting station in Jaffna promoting Tamilistan in TN. TN jokers LOVE hatred so they will listen.
3. Wait till Sethusamudram operates and allow pollution in the northern sea. Blame on Endia. Tamils will hate Endia.
4. Get some small radiation reading in our radiation detectors in Putlam and say Endia nuke plant is LEAKING which can kill all in TN. It will send them CRAZY!
5. Catch a TNA MP and “FIND” anti-Endia propaganda material from his house.
SL CAN control Tamilians easily but Endia CAN’T. We saw that many times.
July 29th, 2013 at 7:37 pm
IF we can somehow get Endia to killl TN racists, we will be laughing.
July 29th, 2013 at 7:47 pm
Endia wants to create a tamil eelam here so that sri lanka will have to face the bullshit Tamils not them
July 29th, 2013 at 7:53 pm
it is 29 years now sri lanka is still in one piece, next year (30th) thanks to this government it will be in 2 pieces
July 29th, 2013 at 7:57 pm
Lorenzo,
Wejemunige Rohana is the Navy man who hammered the cowardly Endian Rajiv.
You must have been confused with him the coward Rohana Wejeweera, the Baya Gulla.
July 29th, 2013 at 8:53 pm
@ Lorenzo,
Sorry I disagree with your statement… “NO WAY! Endia could not have done that. The world tolerated Endian invasion because SL DID NOT protest.” But I agree with your… “Had SL REFUSED, it would be a different story” part. Yes it could be a different story, but nobody knows the nature of this story, because it is still a moot point. And I also agree with you ”LTTE leaders had FAR MORE intelligence than JR in 1987. They being a smaller group REJECTED Endian dirt.”
Of course they would tolerate Indian invasion irrespective of JR’s protest; that is what exactly happened in 1987. World is not a reasonable place Lorenzo to expect not to tolerate a bullying big power toward small nation. So calld rest of the world does it all the time, and do it at the moment.
West definitely tolerate – because India was doing what west desired to do in SL. If regional power like INDIA was not located in close proximity to SL and if Indians had not already become a part of the problem, then of course we could have witnessed Kosovo like western invasion in Sri Lanka at that time way before Yugoslavia was bombed. The reason for me to refute your statement is because at that point, the entire world including west knew what was precisely coming along the pipe. It was pretty evident that entire scenario was meticulously calculated from the beginning of the chain of events from July 1983 riots to the climax of those events with Indian invasion in 1987.
My real suspicion goes to JRJ since I suspect him as a part of this conspiracy, at least in the beginning of this chain of events. I had this suspicion since 83 riots because we saw JRJ’s link and his seal to the breaking of law and order in every aspect of the riots. We would have given JRJ the benefit of the doubt had he at least tried, even unsuccessfully attempted, to restore law and order in 83. But it was not typical JR that we saw during entire scenario. Typical JR was not even tolerant to different intellectual opinion or simple animosity of a Buddhist monk. But when riots broke out, he never raised a finger, or uttered a word during first 18 hours while the burning and the looting went on and on. The worse was that JR knowingly allowed it to spread into other areas as well. We saw by our own eyes how army and police were just waiting on the side as spectators without having orders to tackle the issue. And we knew through our own eyes in our localities that UNP was the leading culprit who led the entire havoc in neighborhoods. Ordinary Sinhalese actually saved Tamil lives. To my understanding, 83 riots was a wonderfully designed handy work of western and Indian intelligence agencies; and with reasons we can suspect some powerful elements of UNP also was part of that conspiracy.
Then as calculated by conspirators, when India violated our air space, JR realized that things had gone out of his hand. JR never expected India to intervene SL during Wadamarachi operation 4 years after the riots. Do you really think desperate JR, an old fox with animal instinct, would never have consulted western embassies at that point? Of course he did. He even reminded Britain about the defense pact we had with GB. But England immediately played it down. Don’t forget India acted in such aggression with complete consent with the west. It was not India along cornered JR to the wall, but also by the west.
It is similar to Sadam’s invasion of Kuwait. Before the invasion, Sadam informed to the then US ambassador about his plan to invade Kuwait. She gave green light. Actually they trapped Sadam into it. Don’t you think the same must have happened in the case of Indian invasion in SL as well? Actually here in SL they trapped not the invader, but the invaded. I think there is a larger part of this story that JR never revealed to the public.
July 29th, 2013 at 9:53 pm
Geeth,
“Had SL REFUSED, it would be a different story”- we can only speculate what would have happened if so.
But surely Endia would have backed down. Instead JR , fear of rape, spread his legs.
Violating air space is no big deal. JR could have finished of LTTE that time regardless of air space violation. Remember our navy met Endian buggers at see and sked them to go and distribute there shit to Endians who have nothing to eat. Already many soldiers died to earn that position and JR had no right to back down.
Even now, fear of failure is keeping us down. Current greedy politikkos preferring their hard earned kingship to risk confronting Rape country. MR has no right to back down now after sacrificing so many Sinhala lives. He will be punished very very badly. Situation now is worse that JRs time.
July 29th, 2013 at 10:24 pm
SG,
My bad!
Thanks for pointing it out. I never knew the HERO’S blessed name. Someone told me he is alive and out of prison. IF I were in his position, I would do same, a bit harder, sharper, collectively.
The nation’s fate rested on his hands, literally.
July 29th, 2013 at 10:43 pm
Geeth,
A long read with lot of FACTS 6 paragraphs. Thanks.
Paragraphs 5 and 6 – agree.
Paragraph 4 – apart from various theories, there is no established fact. I doubt JR planned the riot. The country was steady developing according to JR’s economic policy (according to other policies the country was going backwards).
By 1981 Tamil population in Jaffna had reached the MAXIMUM resource-less Jaffna peninsular could sustain. Open economy was helping them either. Illegal food, medicine, saree, drug, etc. trade with TN had collapsed thanks to flooding imports.
They needed to find GREENER PASTURES. 1983 was planned and executed by Tamils for their benefit. We had a SMALL ARMY of 5,000 mostly volunteers. They had to man the north which was very dangerous. So the army could NOT be deployed in large numbers. Police was not trained to counter riots. On previous occassions the army could be deployed but not in 1983. Tamils knew this VERY well. MOST Jaffna Tamils escaped the riot with prior knowledge (including us). My mum was 8 months+ pregnent with me when reached Jaffna on July 23. IF NOT you may not have to put up with Lorenzo’s BS in Lankaweb today!! It was INDIAN TAMILS who died in the riot. ALL police chiefs in Colombo were (Jaffna) Tamils who ensured the riot ran its course!! Army could NOT be deployed as they were facing terrorists in the north and east.
But 1983 saved SL from an UNSUSTAINABLE number of Tamils, TNA voters, unemployed youth, suicide bombers, standardisation desparados, etc. and DELAYED Colombo’s Chennaisation.
So this is NOT true – “It was pretty evident that entire scenario was meticulously calculated from the beginning of the chain of events from July 1983 riots to the climax of those events with Indian invasion in 1987.”
Endia planned it MUCH EARLIER.
1. Endia trained Tamils in late 1970s.
2. Endia forced SL to ACCEPT Endian Tamils in ALL in 1975
3. Endia got “deported” Endian Tamils settled in Vanni in 1975 – they became tiger cadres!!
4. Endians had invaded SL 16 times BEFORE 1987. It was a ROUTINE INVASION!!
Contd……………
July 29th, 2013 at 11:15 pm
I agree the world is NOT a reasonable place. USA FAILED to save Pakistan from Endian invasion in 1970s.
This is where I TOTALLY DISAGREE.
“If regional power like INDIA was not located in close proximity to SL and if Indians had not already become a part of the problem, then of course we could have witnessed Kosovo like western invasion in Sri Lanka at that time way before Yugoslavia was bombed.”
It was always Endia that wanted SL DIVIDED. If not for Endia, we don’t face this problem. Tamils will have their homeland in TN.
Make no mistake. As a human needs to breathe, Tamils NEED a nation of their own as they ALWAYS HAD before British Endia.
WHERE is the question to answer.
It was the Soviet Union that wanted Endia to punish the pro-US SL and JR. At that time, LTTE and its sympathisers were all communists and SL PUNISHED communists with house burnings, assaults, etc.
Until the NEW COLD WAR (2000 onwards) started the west was NOT AGAINST SL.
When Endia invaded SL in JUNE 1987 with lentils, SL should have protested in the STRONGEST FORM, complained to the UN, deployed hooligans ready to attack and destroy Endian interests in the island, got down Pakistanis/Chinese/Israelis, summoned the Endian HC and BLASTED him, rallied the people AGAINST Endia and for Operation Liberation, etc.
JR miscalculated the threat. But he created a rift between Endia and LTTE. Now we don’t have this rift!!
Just imagine LTTE was around (as a small force killing Tamil “traitors”) today. Will TNA meet Endian leaders? NO! Will TNA contest NPC election? NO! Will TN jokers come out in the open? NO!
We cooked the goose. We should have kept a skeleton LTTE (under us) to DISRUPT political solutions and Endian involvement AND to keep the LTTE ban in USA, EU, Endia forever.
Never forget LTTE killed MOST Tamil racist leaders and killed more Tamils and Endians than anyone else in SL. By doing so they did SL a great favour. It is not too late to RESURRECT the “LTTE” that will not tolerate TNA agreeing to ANY political solution and to Endian dictates.
Endia used the LTTE to disrupt us and we must do the same. Unlike foolish Endia we should not let it grow too much.

Wijemuni Rohana now has a shop selling CDs mostly Hindi songs, I read from an endian news paper.
Yes, to me he is not second to any of our war heroes. Much greater than Sarath Gonseka. Why ?
Just think of his courage, bravery to hit the bloody bastard. The bastard is the prime minister of the Rape Country of 1 billion people. I still feel sad for him.
July 30th, 2013 at 3:17 am
We need to have our minds programmed for self preservation and winning. We cannot allow Indian imperialism to rule us. Unfortunately indian myths that we believe has taken away our killer instinct and we have become passive AND MAKE US VULNERABLE. We HAVE TO QUESTION IF GIVING UP DESIRES and seeking extinction is wise.
July 30th, 2013 at 10:22 am
Lorenzo,
When there are two factions, west and India, seeking to divide SL, we arguing to determine which party wants to divide SL the most is like arguing to determine which and which end of dog shit is good and the worst. For me dog shit has no good end.
Having said that, I beg you to pay your attention toward the twin strategy of ELAM project from military to human rights. That is how the project originally being drafted in their blue prints. Only difference is time and relevance of strategic variability between these two. India at the beginning invested into military strategy then later to HR by expecting to create a refugees crisis. Before that time, west already had begun their work through projects like REDBANA, MARGA. So none of them, west or India, is better than the other.
My disagreement is not about myriad of ways of resistance you have mentioned that JR missed in 1987 in the face of lentil invasion, but your assumption about the world opinion when you said…”world tolerated Indian invasion because SL did not protest”. You know that world opinion means not about the opinion of Zimbabwe or Bangladesh. But it is precisely about the opinion of FUKINUS collision, means France, UK India and US collision right? They are part of the problem. They all were funding and arming the ELAM project while having extradition treaties’ between our countries. But those terrorists who were and are raising funds and campaigning against SL in the west and India have never been extradited to SL. That means these treaties work only one way.
I agree with you about “When Endia invaded SL in JUNE 1987 with lentils, SL should have protested in the STRONGEST FORM, complained to the UN, deployed hooligans ready to attack and destroy Endian interests in the island, got down Pakistanis/Chinese/Israelis, summoned the Endian HC and BLASTED him, rallied the people AGAINST Endia and for Operation Liberation, etc.”
But Lorenzo, you know very well that Colombian never had backbones. Their hero JR did not have it. Have you ever seen two Colombians having man to man fight? They are good backstabbers. That’s all they can do. They were so obedient servants to their English master. That trustworthiness, dependability, fidelity, loyalty and faithfulness toward the master kept JR to be fully blind. He did not see western strategy. Still they do not see it. The main characteristic of the Colombian is their lack of self-confidence. To react the way you suggested, one need to be courageous and confident. That is exactly what they did not have but Premadasa had, now MR losing after associating too many Colombians.
July 30th, 2013 at 10:55 am
Today’s Lankapage reported that:
July 30, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa said today his stance on the issue of distribution of police and land powers to provincial councils has not changed and reiterated that the powers will remain with the government.
Hope HE the President will stick to his words!
July 30th, 2013 at 11:59 am
Indrajith: You said “Hope HE the President will stick to is words”
I felt like pouring a bucket of water on you to wake you from your “DREAM”. Anyway, I understand you. So many people in our country live with that HOPE you speak of. Good luck.
July 30th, 2013 at 1:01 pm
Hi Doug, what else can we do? Until HE retracts his statements we have to believe he’ll act in the best interest of the country.
July 30th, 2013 at 2:00 pm
Geeth,
The 1987 Endian invasion was partly due to SL joining the WEST.
REDBANA, MARGA helped the Endian ILLEGAL people settled in Vanni AFTER many agreements with Endia for SL to accept some (and later all) of them.
They were only NGOs but it was the Endian GOVERNMENT that armed, trained, saved, etc. the LTTE.
I agree the west is promoting TAMIL ELAM now for geopolitical reasons. But Endia is still at the forefront. The point is we CANNOT fight both fronts at the same time. We have to BUST the MOST INFLUENTIAL enemy first and that is Endia. Now the west operates in South Asia through Endia.
Whatever disagreements we have on the causes we must work towards a SOLUTION. I think resurrecting a hardline “Tamil terrorist group” under our control is part of the SOLUTION because that can bust political solutions and Endian interests in SL WITHOUT war crimes, human rights and other nonsense against SL.
Tamil people and Tamil diaspora support Tamil Elam NOT 13 amendment or federalism, etc. By disrupting political solutions and killing Tamil RACIST politicians, LTTE did SL a favor.
After Taliban victory in 2014 they will create hell for Endia (the only country in the region that didn’t finance the Taliban and AQ). Attacks on Endia will increase. China too will ruin Endia. But these moves take time. We have to bid for time by disrupting political solutions and other Endian involvement.
LTTE’s defiance against Endia from 1987 to 1990 is a good lesson for us to learn. We can DETER Endia from invading us but not fight an Endian invasion head on. It has to be done covertly.
Endia invaded us in 1964 (kallathoni pact), 1974 (kachchativu pact), 1987 – kalakanni pact (missed 1984 because of 1983 disturbance when there was no proper atmosphere for Endia to intervene), 1994 – Kumaratnga-1 (pro-Endian govt. change) and 2004 – Kumaratunga-2 (pro-Endian govt. change).
My bet is Endia will again invade SL in 2014 (karunanidhi election support).
By next year the NPC will be either working as Endia wants it, or, not working as Endia wants it. If not working as Endia wants, then Endia will invade us. If working as Endia wanted which means another Perumal affair, SL will stop the NPC in which case Endia will invade us.
So we are facing Endian invasion EITHER WAY.
We must get ready now to destroy Endian interests in SL IF Endia invades us.

Lorenzo,
No. In any case Endia will never invade us. All the incidents you mentioned are not invasions but , but occasions that lacked courage and fear of loosing “private” power ( thinking ” how if Endia catches me”).
It is the same thing happening now.
MR should not be allowed to hold “elections” if he cannot win. If he looses, he is going to loose the whole land at the next election and a puppet of Endia will come, which is equivalent to INVASION.
We need Vijitha Rohana Wijemuni act not to force Endia to back off.
Our ware hero services to destabilise TN may be the best. Let Tamils fight for a country in Endia to end the India.

SG,
I meant equivalent to INVASION situations too.
But something tells me Endia will physically invade us next year (2014) as they did in 1987.
That is the only way TN racists will vote for Manmoron Singh’s allies. Jeyalalitha’s party is AGAINST Manmoron’s coalition and she is the MOST popular one in TN. Election is due in less than a year.
The date of invasion is 13 May 2014.

@ Lorenzo,
By the way let me make a correction. It should be ‘coalition’ not collision in the previous comment.
We all must be able to see the big picture. By holding the tail, one cannot declare that the form of the elephant is like a handle of a broom!!!
No doubt, India has become SL’s enemy Number 1. That is for sure true. But dealing with India along we won’t be able to get us off the hook. There are other factors. We cannot forget that India conveniently playing currently in the favorable international opinion that west already created. West has spent millions and millions of dollars and even still spending for that end and will be spending many more millions in decades to come. India plays her ball smoothly on the turf of bogus human rights catastrophe that US and west have created. Are you suggesting that west is doing all this due to their lack of knowledge about our ground realities? Actually, to my personal experience, western embassies know ground realities better than our politicians. But they play their game according to their specific game plan. Since we do not have a game plan, actually not even a game – so to speak, we dance to the tune of their game.
For any counter strategy for SL to follow in order to prevent her territory being divided has to address two very important issues. Don’t forget, these are very very important issues.
1. Firstly we must find some way-out to keep away from the focus of western cartographers who prepare strategies to Balkanize
south Asia.
2. Secondly we must be able to satisfy western desire of controlling waves of Indian Ocean.
How can we do that? Dealing with India along you cannot address these issues.
At this point I would say yes, one way to satisfy west is to covertly supporting secession in India. But at this point, it is doubtful if west would satisfy with that because, as Dilrook repeatedly pointed out, US wants to use India as a counter balancing leverage against China. For that reason, at this moment west wants India to remain in one piece. But Balkanizing India also in their long term strategy of the region no doubt.
If we go along that risky terrain of helping to break India, especially Tamilnadu, we have a bigger homework to complete way before we jump into that bandwagon, which is changing the demographic composition of north and the east. If we hurriedly jump into supporting division in India without changing demography in those regions, Tamilnadu never stops by just separation from India but go even further to brake SL with the help of the west, because west won’t stop anywhere short of possessing Trinco.
But after helping global Tamil yearning to realize their own homeland, in a changed demographic condition, of course if desired, Sri Lanka will have the option to offer US to have a naval base in Trinco for certain number of years.
Although it seems very risky, India has pushed SL to think that as the only way-out we can think of.

Geeth,
Agree with your game plan and risks involved with a small change.
“1. Firstly we must find some way-out to keep away from the focus of western cartographers who prepare strategies to Balkanize SL.
2. Secondly we must be able to satisfy western desire of controlling waves of Indian Ocean.”
We have to be selfish. We have to team up even with the devil to defend our nation.
“Actually, to my personal experience, western embassies know ground realities better than our politicians. But they play their game according to their specific game plan.”
This is the reality. What I’ve been telling all along!! This NOT a media war or a propaganda war or a diplomacy alone war. They KNOW but knowledge is NOT the point. The game plan is the driving force. MOST SLs INNOCENTLY think if we are kind to the anti-SL dengu mosquito it will spare us.
“If we go along that risky terrain of helping to break India, especially Tamilnadu, we have a bigger homework to complete way before we jump into that bandwagon, which is changing the demographic composition of north and the east.”
Yes. Otherwise it will be a worse situation for us than now. TN racism is 25% filtered through Endia when it reaches us. WHEN TN is an independent country, no filters. We have to directly face TN barbaric racism. But with DEMOGRAPHIC CHANGE in the north we can bust them and ANY invasive action will result in what they fear most.
Endia has pushed us to desperate action which it will regret.
Endia knows this. US help to TN to break it away from Endia is now well known. This way USA holds Endia to ransom. TN also holds Endia to ransom. Endia’s anti-SL moves are DESPERATE LAST MINUTE measures to keep TN part of it.
Tamils’ desire to be a totally independent nation has never been stronger. The question is which piece of land will host it.
If they are disappointed with SL, they will move against Endia. They know the Americans and the Chinese support them!

Some hope…..
Today Endia may announce the NEW STATE of Telangana a breakaway from TN’s neighbor – Andra Pradesh.
MOST in AP are against breaking up their state.
Dominos? I certainly hope so!
Break up TN too. It is too big and ugly.

When the fox is crying for ‘chicken rights’ of the rooster on the rooftop (his traditional diet), we must understand that the actual reason behind this outcry is his hunger. We know this because, unlike those ties wearing ‘saavaalayas’ (belt fish) in Colombo, we know about the fox very well.
Actual reasons behind western intervention in SL are based not on human rights, but on two long-term politico-military strategies.
1. Breaking Indian union and dividing it on ethnic and religious lines.
2. Having absolute dominance in Indian Ocean by securing Trinco harbor.
Those two desires elevated the significance of Tamils of South Asia as a useful tool in western strategic planning. Location of SL and the strategic value of Trinco made SL to be a victim of this entire game plan. To achieve these strategic goals, west has taken a long detour, a roundabout way.
Since we cannot fight against this entire game head-on , like any other small nation in a similar situation would do, we must use stratagem and astuteness as our main weapon. Tie wearing Indian ‘saavaalayas’ in Delhi have proved us that big India is a big problem to the rest in S.Asia. Now here at this point western desire of breaking India indirectly helps us.
Up to now we thought it is our duty to protect India. But tie wearing ‘Saavaalayas’ in Delhi thought it is their duty to break SL. Then it is a matter of a game of survival. Let India break apart. Let us help that happen. Let us help Tamils to realize a homeland in India. Through third parties, let us approach the cartographers in leading western espionage agencies to offer our willingness to help them to achieve their political goal.
Then the only problem is Trinco. If we can change the demography in north and the east, and have a state of the art air and naval defense system, then without any fear Sri Lanka can decide whether or not to let the Americans to have a base in Trinco. However by this way we can turn the table other way around, and if not we can win them fully, at least we can keep SL away from their drawing boards.
MR expected our big brother’s protection but they showed him their middle finger: now let us stuff that middle finger in their mouth.

Isn’t that so funny to see Manmohan Singh is going to night tutory in Washington to learn how to be a superpower?

Geeth,
Our prayers have been SOMEWHAT answered.
ENDIA IS BREAKING UP!!
Endia plans to DIVIDE Tamil Madu into 3 parts – Tamil Nadu, Kongu Nadu and Tondai Nadu!!
EXCELLENT!!
Divide them and rule them.
LTTE Seeman and Ramadoss have already praised the idea.
A divided Toilet Nadu will be weak and we can manage it better.
Endia has realized the DANGER power devolution to LARGE units. Yesterday Endia created Telagana out of Andra Pradesh breaking the big state into 2 smaller states.
Endia plans to create 22 NEW small states to DIVIVE AND RULE.
So Endia IS BREAKING UP and they are doing something about it.
SL should divide northern province into 3 parts – Jaffna, Vanni -west and Vanni – east.
