UK minister turned GTF policy advisor in CHOGM sabotage bid

Former British Labour Party Member of Parliament Joan Marie Ryan, on behalf of the Global Tamil Forum (GTF), has thanked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for backing its ongoing efforts to prevent Indian participation at the forthcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Sri Lanka.
She represented Enfield North between 1997 and 2010. Ryan, is a former minister as well as UK-â„¢s Special Envoy to Cyprus, has written to Tamil Nadu CM J. Jayalalithaa in her capacity as the GTF policy advisor. The Oct. 25 dated letter has been jointly endorsed by Ryan and GTF President, Rev. Dr. S. J. Emmanuel.
The GTF dispatched the letter to CM Jayalalithaa in the wake of the Tamil Nadu assembly passing a resolution that the central government of India should boycott the summit. GTF spokesperson, Suren Surendiram made available a copy of the letter to The Island.
Expressing -Ëœsincere thanks-â„¢ for the resolution, Dr. Emmanuel and Ryan have said: “The support shown by you and the Assembly for truth, accountability, justice and human rights in Sri Lanka is most welcome, as is the commitment displayed to the fundamental principles of the Commonwealth. Your actions have been an eloquent expression of the solidarity of Tamil Nadu with the on-going Tamil struggle for an honourable existence in Sri Lanka.”
The duo claimed that Canada and the British Labour Party, too, supported the GTF efforts to deter Commonwealth member states from attending the Colombo summit. The GTF has also urged Secretary General of the African National Congress (ANC) Gwede Mantashe to take up the Commonwealth issue with the South African government. Interestingly, the letter dated Oct. 25 sent to Mantashe has been signed only by Dr. Emmanuel.
External Affairs Ministry sources told The Island that the GTF and the British Tamil Forum (BTF) had been able to secure the support of several sitting MPs as well as those voted out of parliament.

Attacked by caste Hindus, Dalits knock collector’s door

Dalit villagers, who were allegedly attacked by caste Hindus on Deepavali day at Anthanallur in Srirangam constituency, approached Collector Jayashree Muraleedharan on Monday seeking to initiate action against their tormentors. They appealed her to shift a PDS outlet claiming that it is located at a place dominated by members of the other community.
A large number of Dalits, including those injured in the alleged attack, thronged the collectorate.
Explaining the chain of events, they told the collector that a section of people from their community were waiting at a bus stop at Mullikarumbur on Deepavali day when a group of caste Hindus approached them and picked up a quarrel. Mullikarumbur is a place dominated by caste Hindus.
According to the Dalits, the caste Hindus used filthy language and addressed them by their caste name. When asked why they were targeting them, the group allegedly assaulted them. “They came there with an intention to attack us and as planned, they rushed towards us with lethal weapons and iron rods and assaulted us,” a victim said.
The injured Dalits were rushed to the GH and were given treatment. Meanwhile, Dalit members lodged a complaint with the Somarasampettai police station, but the police allegedly refused to entertain the complaint.
Meanwhile, when the caste Hindus learnt that a complaint has been lodged against them, they stopped the Dalits once again while they were waiting at the bus stop and warned them of dire consequences.
In the petition to the collector, they also expressed fear that the situation may worsen if the people from their colony go to the ration outlet located in anarea dominated by caste Hindus. “People from our area, especially women, fear to go there to buy things and we appeal to open a PDS outlet so that we may live peacefully”, the petition further said.
The Collector received the petition and asked police officials to look into the issue.

How many percent of Tamils from UK are members or participate GTF (Global Tamil Forum) ? How many from other countries? Only some educated Jaffna Tamils who want to be Families like DMK Karunanithy or ADMK Jeyalalitha
with black money. Educated Tamils (about 20 -100) members)who behind the LTTE and Tamil Terrorism have organised GTF. Many western politicians for their own benefit dancing for the Music of Tamil Terrorism
