Daham Sirisena, the son of President Maithripala Sirisena, referring to his inclusion in the Sri Lanka delegation to UN, on Monday questioned, how could his attendance have a negative effect on the country?
Posting a facebook note, he stated, How could my attendance be a negative effect to the country? How could my attendance be the downfall of the country? I urge you all not to compare me and my family with the past regimes as we are far different from them.
” The facebook post Daham as a memeber of the Sri Lankan delegation to the UN

There are many interesting comments under this article in Colombo Telegraph. Please see the comments:https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/daham-sirisena-represents-sri-lanka-at-un-youth-led-high-level-event/
I would suggest that like King Asoka of India who was Dharmista is supposed to have sentenced his son to death because the son had run over a calf and the cow had gone and rung the bell which anyone could ring for justice. If My3 wants to show how Dharmista he is before he prosecutes others he must take up his son’s case and have it heard by FCID and then bring it out into the open and clear his name once and for all or send him to jail. Please see the links below for details of Daham’s activities. As soon as My3 came into power he got him a green card and out of the country. Now My3 is under obligation to USA. As a result Sri Lanka now has to dance to USA tunes.

What credentials (qualifications) do you have to be included in the UN team, other than that your father happen to be the President of the country..? So, please spare the BS.. We are not that stupid, and we perfectly understand how the nepotism works in Sri Lankan politics.
The difference is, your father promised (or deceived the Lankans..) that according to his “Yahapalanaya” he would not give his family members and relatives any positions, the way Rajapakse clan did..
Of course, it didn’t take too long to appoint his cronies to the parliament, and his brother as the chairman to the SLT… So, if this is not nepotism, explain what it is..?
Cronyism, nepotism, corruptions, are all bad when others do it, but it is justifiable when you do it..? The hypocrisy is amazing…!

Correction:-**criticizing my visit to the Delegation** “””criticizing my visit ‘with’ the Delegation”””
I believe this is not a platform for the son of a President, to sling mud at past regimes, and also to express, that HE AND HIS FAMILY are incomparable to families of the past regimes. Certainly yes. I fully agree with his point of view. This Father and Son are, so, so different, they shine like pearls, on a lump of dung. The whole country can see it. This Family is unique, in that they stand out over the past REGIME, family.
Understandingly, He has been invited by his father, as the mother could not attend the event. There is no harm in that. He is fully entitled to represent his mother, There is no Nepotism in that, like what his father did by appointing his brother to Head Telecom. Now that is real nepotism. NEPOTISM SHOULD NOT BE CONFUSED HERE.
Iam totally confused about the last Para, I fail to understand its subject matter, vis-à-vis…. The officials stated that, next time bring in more youths with more innovative ideas which could in turn enrich our country ***BY SEEING MY PRESENCE*** (emphasis mine.) Iam at a total loss to understand the meaning of this. May be, because Iam a very old guy, and entering my childhood again. Yet again, how I think is that^^^^our country can get enriched by seeing his presence. Am I right or wrong ? Confusion worse confounded.
WHAT IS *SDG* please ?

Mr. Idiot Son of MS
Please buy a dictionary. Look for what is nepotism is. You are right your family is not comparable with MR family. Referent is MR id not lick yankee ass. Never bent down to kiss Western asses. You can join your moronic father in ass licking business.

When others did same it was NEPOTISM. When your father does it then it is NOT nepotism. What BS!
How can you explain your uncle becoming the boss at SLT?
How can you explain your sister’s husband becoming a govt. paid consultant?
This is called NEPOTISM.
NO ONE ever took their wife to the UN ASS-embly. What the hell were you doing there? You were NOT part of the delegation.
This is the worst nepotism SL has seen.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. There is growing mistrust between the president and the UNP. President has bypassed the UNP in almost every activity. Although Mangala is the foreign minister, the president doesn’t trust him. That’s why he has taken his western educated English fluent son with him. He did the same in his China trip.
Allocating ministries is another instance of suspicion. Most UNP ministers found it the hard way their ministries are just shams with purview over one or two useless organisations coming under them. Even the top UNPers’ ministries have been appointed a Sirisena man each as secretary. SLFP ministers have got a better deal. Top UNP stalwarts like Daya Gamage and Rauf Hakeem (among most others) have been insulted with worthless ministries.
TNA is locked in the opposition with the opposition leader post. This disallows UNP to form a government with the TNA and forces it to share ministries (equally in number of entities under them) with the SLFP. The president is also from the SLFP.
Frustration is building up within the UNP and the national government sham will either end soon or weaken the UNP the longer it stays with Sirisena. Interestingly, no one can trust Sirisena after what he did in 2014 and no one he can trust as he fears retribution. Therefore he has resorted to nepotism.
Namal on the other hand has the mandate of over a hundred thousand people (twice) to represent the nation. Daham has no such right.

Dilrook is right. I also suspected him taking his son there to have as translator.
We all know what is going on there mostly Greek to his father with his very limited knowledge of English language.
He can’t trust those vipers around him like
ava mangalaya, history doesn’t matter minister post does matter wijedasaya etc.

When MS is suppose to fight corruption and nepotism his son’s trip is ill timed and utterly stupid. Then we have utterly stupid, idiotic and deceitful people in the country and MS is just the symptom of our ills.Get the colonials or their types to sort the country. That what they say in Zimbabwe,Nigeria,Iraq,Syria and Libya. This what they say when I meet them in London. After all they the people and the crooked leaders come there to settle because the life is good and stable. We could have that in SL but we need to sacrifice our culture and get the help of the Colonial types without been dishonest and hypocritical, failing to do so is to give in to to the demands of economically prosperous minorities, which they demand accountability for the hard earned taxes and the IC will definitely back the wealth creators not the loosers like our people. So wake up I say and think out of the well of ignorance and stupidity.
September 30th, 2015 at 6:51 am
DILROOK !! **western educated fluent son** FLUENCY IS WELL REFLECTED IN HIS FACE BOOK COMMENT. Dismal failure to express himself.
Also Daham got involved in a Beach Resort thuggery, I believe. His father had to telephone top Police Personell, to get him out of the mess. So this is the kind of person who goes and sit at the UN sessions. UN IS UTTERLY POLLUTED. Thugs are seen with blank faces, unable to comprehend what is going on.

All this shows how important it is in Lanka to have a working knowledge of the English Language !
Introduce teaching of proper English in all govt schools, as well as an English stream for Science.
September 30th, 2015 at 2:23 pm
Maru Sira is the ONLY SL leader who has NOT studied at a COLOMBO SCHOOL. Poor loser has NO English knowledge whatsoever.
A SHAME SL has a president who cannot speak English.
On the positive side he spoke in Singhala at the UN. MR spoke in Tamil at the UN for the first time!!
“Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse, who perhaps became the first Head of State to speak in Tamil at the UN General Assembly, has conveyed that the government puts the language on equal status with that of Sinhala, a top minister said.”
September 30th, 2015 at 6:36 pm
It is not a SHAME for Sir Lanka to produce a president who cannot speak English. It is also questionable the need to speak in Tamil, the Sakkili Language.
