ජනාධිපති කාර්යාලයේ පිහිටුවා ඇති වකුගඩු රෝග නිවාරණ ජනාධිපති කාර්ය සාධන බලකාය එළබෙන දෙසැම්බර් 16 දින ජාතික වැඩමුළුවක් ගාලු මුවදොර හෝටලයේ කැඳවා ඇත. ඒ සදහා මිලියන ගණනක වියදමක් දරනු ලැබේ.
එහි උදැසන පැවැත්වෙන ආරම්භක උත්සවයේ ප්‍රධාන අමුත්තා රාජිත සේනාරත්න සෞඛ්‍ය ඇමතිතුමාය. සවස් වරුවවේ සවස 3 ට ජනාධිපතිතුමා පැමිණේ. උදැසන පවත්වන වැඩමුළුවේ ප්‍රතිපලය ජනාධිපතිතුමාට ඉදිරිපත් කරන්නේ මහාචාර්ය බුද්ධි මාරඹේ සහ මංජු ගුණවර්ධන මහතාය.
බුද්ධි මාරඹේ යනු ලංකාවේ කෘෂිරසායන වෙළදාමේ ආධිපත්‍ය දරන CIC සමාගමේ අධ්‍යක්ෂක මණ්ඩල සාමාජිකයෙකි (යොමුව ).
මංජු ගුණවර්ධන යනු හිටි අඩියේ වකුගඩු රෝගය ගැන කතා කිරීමට කිසිදු අධ්‍යාපන සුදුසුකමක් නැති CIC සමාගමේ සේවය කල පුද්ගලයෙකි.
පුදුමයනම් වකුගඩු රෝගය ගැන පර්යේෂණ කල සිය ගණනක් සිටින මේ රටේ වකුගඩු රෝගය ගැන ජනාධිපතිතුමාට ඉදිරිපත් කරන්නට ජනාධිපති කාර්යාලය මගින් මේ දෙදෙනාවම තෝරා ගැනීමය.
ජනාධිපති කාර්යාලයෙන් ලැබෙන තොරතුරු අනුව අද මෙම සමාගම්වල බලපෑම අන් කවරදාටත් වඩා වැඩි වී ඇත.
වකුගඩු රෝගය ගැන පසුගිය මැතිවරණ සමයේ වේදිකාවල පතුරු ඇරියේ පැවතී රජය කෘෂිරසායන මාෆියාවට යට වී නිහඩව සිටි බවයි. එසේනම් මේ කරන්නේ සමාගම් ජනාධිපති කාර්යාලයටම ගෙනවිත් උත්සව සංවිධානය කර, ආරාධනා පත්‍ර යවා, මුල් පුටුවේ හිඳුවා මාෆියාව රෙද්අස්සේම දමා ගැනීම නොවේදැයි ප්‍රශ්න කල යුතුය.

Glyphosate which the WHO has acknowledged as a cancer causing agent, and a chemical which causes CKD must NOT be resurreced in Sri Lanka. When the President banned this chemical we were very happy. Now it appears that this decision was not final ? Why ? The buck has been passed on to a Chemcial company (CIC) – they will most certainly clear it as safe !
Glyphosate in paddy fields or when washed down from various upcountry plantations, is especially dangerous to paddy farmers as their bare legs absorbs the agent through the skin and causes diseases. This is very dangerous to paddy farmers and Lanka food supply. In Japan the paddy farmers wear high goloshes (boots) to prevent such absorption of any poisons and also keep the legs clean. The same thing ought to be done in Lanka, even without use of Glyphosate.
Another case :
In earlier times in Sri Lanka, we were told that margarine is the best fat for the heart and circulation system ! Now almost all the western countries have banned partially hydrogenated fats (category of marg fat) and marg in prepared foods. Westerners are now told that since this is an artificial fat, the human body cannot recognise it and the fat gets slowly desposited in heart and arteries, and some of it circulates in the blood stream and sits there for about 51 days. We were told that marg is better than butter for heart health !! Now there is a ban on partially hydrogenated fats (incl marg) in almost all the countries in the west. Why not in Lanka ? Why aren’t our prepared foods on the shelves labelled to show what they contain ? Why are the Consumer Associations silent ?
Death by food production and food ?
What is this GoSL up to ? The GMOA and other concerned organisations must protest vehemently on these issues.
