The Hansard has recorded these statements. In early 2009 Ranil as the Opposition Leader claimed Sarath Fonseka was responsible for the killing of Lasantha. Former Speaker Joseph Michael Perera told the BBC that it was a special unit directly under Fonseka that killed Lasantha. Mangala Samaraweera told media that Fonseka is not even suitable to lead the Salvation Army let alone the nation’s army.
However, Gotabhaya here responds to the totally irresponsible speech of Fonseka in parliament.
His subsequent media statement about his responsibility for all actions of the army is commendable.

According to this speaker it was Sarath Fonseka who had Lasantha Wickrematunge killed.

This Vel Vidane idiot is a disgrace to the whole Army. He utter lies like a kindergarten child.His whole family is bogus and liars. Everybody knows how much the Srilankan public likes them after seeing the election results in last elections. People are fed up with his lies. Nowhere in the world has so many defeated candidates in the Parliament like in Sri lanka. This shows how much bankrupt this current Govt is.All losers and liars get together and have started looting the country by blaming Rajapaksas unnecessarily. The public will give them a proper answer soon.
