OPEN APPEAL TO HIS EXCELLENCY PRESIDENT

Dr Sarath Obeysekera
I wrote several articles with suggestions that Your Excellency should take the stick on to your hand and become a benevolent dictator ( or even pretend to be one as your character is not of such nature ) and impose law and order .
Ministers are abusing the power, wasting public money, parliament also wasting public money by holding no confidence motions where opposition fairly well knew that it will be defeated.
Few ministers who have preached for yahapalanya is now begging the parliament to make funds available from luxury cars to go and see the public.
Few weeks back we had floods and let of promises by Magapolis and everything is quite now, If you go to Meethotamulle you see the status of affairs .
Lane discipline on roads which was much publicised, has gone out of the pavement ,police monitoring breaking of traffic laws using CCTV have gone dark” .
Private hospitals making a mint by charging VAT ( a word hated by all) from every person .and yet not giving much of a service .I am told that patients seeking treatment under insurance schemes have been told, that Insurance Company does not cover the VAT ,hence patients have to bear the cost !
(One leading hospital pay a santhosam bribes to OPD doctors for admitting patients for in house treatment (even if it may not be necessary !)
There was an article about a president in a south American country who live like a peasant, In india ministers ride only Ambassador cars and wear white simple clothes .Some of our ministers hold a weddings with over 2000 guests in an air-conditioned Marquee and yet call his own cabinet colleague a Natami .
Another MP calls doctors perverts and another one states that the price of cars is increased to stop unnecessary people buying cars ( one wonders whether increasing cement prices ,government is contemplating unnecessary people buying cement to build houses .
My driver who has voted for a change tells me that UNP should have joined with TNA and formed a government, and avoid some accused MPs taking over cabinet portfolios .I told him that they are all the same .
H E President promised that he will not contest again, that means he has nothing to lose .
Please do something to put the country in right track
Your excellency, people will push you to stay for life if you can put things right.

Until JR open the gates to Parliamentarians make money since 1948 most parliamentarians trave from distance like Hambanthota , Jaffna, Batticallo, Up country etc by public transport or used their own basic cars NO AC, like Ford Prefect, Austin A40, Morris Minor, VW, Peugeot and lived at Saravasthi Hostel with minimum choice in Menu. Those MPs did much more work for the public than any MP or Minister do today. Why the hell this Dentist talking about “far distant” travelling. This foolish Dentist do not know that then Ceylon and present Sri Lanka is the same distant to travel. Sri Lanka had not become big. Those good old day MP did not made any money or became fat big belly. Most of them PM became poorer and no pension benefits as well.

After his BETRAYAL of the Sinhala Majority, Sirisena DARE NOT GIVE UP the PRESIDENCY, FEARING he will END UP LIKE MR, HOUNDED FROM PILLAR TO POST!
For that reason alone, Sirisena is ALSO CONDEMNED TO HANG ON TO THE PRESIDENCY as long as he can, DESPITE ALL OF HIS PREVIOUS PRONOUNCEMENTS!
That is why Politicians SHOULD NOT VICTIMIZE OTHERS once they are in power, irrespective of PROMISES they made to SEIZE POWER, because if they DO, they themselves will be VICTIMIZED when they leave office!
This DILEMMA of CONFRONTATIONAL POLITICS driven by GREED & FEAR in equal measure has not changed ONE IOTA from TIMES IMMEMORIAL!

I agree with Stanley, it is an ABSOLUTE WASTE OF TIME to appeal to this President’s commonsense and patriotism; he has neither commonsense nor patriotism!
