   It is only a few months to go before the Presidential Elections. It is important that SLFP is allowed to rot away with the maggots that still clings to it.

   Mahinda Rajapakse must be brave enough to embrace Pohottuwa and move forward. His father had the courage to leave behind the UNP and form the SLFP. Now he must have the courage to leave it, for it has been corrupted beyond repair by Sirisena and those who followed him.

   We must not fall into the traps that are being set up by – S B Dissanayake, Vasudeva Nanayakkara or Kumara Welgama. All these people have their own personal agendas. They are definitely not what is good for the nation. They just want to survive in politics and some even have future Presidential ambitions albeit visible ground support at present.

   Prasanna is right. Any attempt to join up with traitor, shameless serial liar Sirisena must be rejected outright with outright displeasure and disgust.

   SLPP cannot win a presidential election without either promising to abrogate 13A (or at least seriously denting it), Singapore FTA, containing TNA racists or any other nationalist agenda. SLFP and JVP will contest dividing the Sinhala vote. The fault is not with the people. The fault is in SLPP if it is unable to beat the competition. Mahinda won 15% of minority vote in 2015 but this time it will not be over 10%. If SLPP promises any more devolution (of any sort) or patch up with India, its chances are reduced further.

   UNP will not field Ranil which is a no brainer. UNP will field a popular candidate heavily backed by the minority block vote.

   If Gotabaya is not going to contest, someone outside the Rajapaksa family must contest. Otherwise JO leaders will be frustrated as they can never become national leaders. They have a better chance in 2024 if a Rajapaksa fails to win. They are not slaves.

   Who is this පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී දිසානායක ? A nominated MP who could not secure his seat in the elections.

   It is of utmost importance to defeat Ranil in the next elections.
   No doubt Mahinda should be considered as the best President by a long distance due to eradication of LTTE terrorism.
   However, his 2nd term despite development work (with borrowed money with high interest rates, when banks rates were less than 2% throughout the world) ruined the economy. Most of the money was spent on Tamils and he did not win Tamil votes. It is stupid to blame on people for his defeat.
   Making him the PM for another year or so will make him unpopular fast, paving way to UNP win again.
   පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී දිසානායක may be conspiring to do this.
