To avoid Ranjangate type of thing in the future, at least in SL, the SLTRC should make it mandatory for the service providers to embed a code in the firmware of sim card to give an alert to the receiver of the call or persons nearby when a user switches on the recording mode.
In today’s world of AI this should be a simple matter. If possible the SLTRC should take up this with the international organizations like Network Operators Group. We too have a thing called LKNOG.

Whatever it is the Sri Lankans should know that in all smartphones there supposed o be a secret core in the CPU that enables the makers of phone to listen to conversations if the facility is not disabled. Makers may means governments as well. Besides all service providers can listen to or read the communications. The encryption in whatsapp etc probably takes place at higher levels.
