There were issues related to sharing of information between the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) during the time of the previous administration and that led to several interruptions to the investigations on extremist activities, IP attached to TID Gayan Ratnayaka today informed the PCoI probing Easter Sunday attacks.
In 2018, Ratnayake was serving at the TID Unit on Religious Extremism and Fundamentalism and the TID had conducted investigation on Zahran’s extremist preaching and practices. He said on February 28, 2019, he went to Zahran’s wife’s house in Kekunagolla with a group of TID officials.
“We questioned Zahran’s mother-in-law Sitthi Shahila and her brother Mohammed Anzar. During the inquiry Shahila told us that Zahran didn’t visit his family for two years, but Anzar told Zahran paid a visit about a month and a half ago,” Ratnayaka said.
He said during the inquiry, Anzar received a call from the CID. “The caller identified himself as SI Dias and told me that Anzar was being used as a private informant of the CID. He also said that Anzar was sent home to complete a task, and if TID had continue the investigation, it would hamper CID’s probing,” he said.
Ratnayaka also said that SI Dias had asked the TID team to leave Zahran’s wife’s house without causing interruption to the probe.
IP Ratnayaka further added that the TID had requested the investigations report which was compiled by the CID on Zahran did not say whatsoever that Anzar was used as CID’s private informant.
The witness also said a written request had been made to the then Director of the TID on March 6, 2019 requesting permission to summon Ansar to the TID to question him, but Ansar was never questioned until the Easter Sunday suicide attack took place.

Former Director of the CID Shani Abeysekera should be release asap if the new administration is to be respected. He has an outstanding record of doing his job professionally. Hope the country will go down the pan, not happy with their start, running from temple to temple instead should get the blessing of the people who are paying the country with their hard earned taxes.

Nimal, you are once again blowing the Anti Sri Lanka blowhorn. People have not forgotten those Ranjan Ramanyake phone recordings, where we all heard how Shani Abeysekera going down on his knees in front of this Gogolo and deciding who and who should be convicted.
There are many in the hapless opposition who hope people have short memories. Very soon all these phone recordings will be in front of the people again when these cases are heard in courts. Nimal you are still trying to carry forward the canard put forward by the Asamagi Jana Balawegaya that Shani Abeysekera is an outstanding CID professional. He will soon be rewarded accordingly by the courts for perverting the course of justice.
Asamagi Janabalawegaya’s only cause for fame is to amass a few Anti Rajapakse votes from the minorities in Colombo and from around the country. Many a UNPer with a conscience either voted for Pohottuwa or just stayed at home in sheer frustration. That is how Sajith lost another 2Million votes between the Presidential election and the General Election. The majority of the votes that Sajith received are not personal votes for him but Anti Rajapakse votes. They are similar to the 6.1 Million votes that Sirisena received and similary by Sarath Fonseka in 2010. They are not personal to the individual. Any anti Rajapakse Jack, Jill or In Between from Colombo District would have collected a similar number of votes from the Colombo District.
Therefore it is best not to blow this slanderous old trumpet to whitewash the Jadapalanaya and their hirelings such as Shani Abeysekera – a veritable black mark in the annals of the Sri Lanka Police Force.
Your former Anti Sinhala, Anti Buddhist slip is showing!

Ratnapala,
I don’t have to prove that if I am a good Sinhalese because people who knows me knows that.To start with I don’t look to our past crap history that is evil in every nation, only the Srilankans have this habit to fool ones self and hoodwink others.
I meet Italians ,Greeks, Spanish with an histories of their own and never want to glorify it knowing that it was horrible. This is the madness that have been inculcated to us by our leaders who had their education in the Western countries who were utter failures in assimilation with the progressive host countries. It ok to come and live in these developed countries make their money, not able to get on but get together in groups and heluzinating about their culture and history left behind.
I proved my honesty and integrity by taking little out of the country of birth(52 Pounds) and earning in the host country by working hard thus earning the respect of the host country and heavily investing in the country of my birth, thus giving employment and even giving funds to various worthy projects and gladly my sudda friends kept on encouraging me as they are born with a sense of charity, genorosity and fairness which is very much lacking in our supposed to be the darmadeepaya. My days of supporting political parties in SL has gone as very little intergrity and honesty to be seen and I was shocked by the rowdy brawl at the parliament, not in line with people of good culture.
