State Minister Tennakoon looks into Karandagolla landslide threat

The potential landslide risk near the Ella-Wellawaya road at Karandagolla in the Badulla district on April 21 has drawn the special attention of State Minister of Defence Hon. Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, who has also directed the authorities of the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) and Disaster Management Centre (DMC) to inspect the site and provide a detailed report immediately.
As per the instructions, an expert team consisting of the Director General of the DMC, the Director of the NBRO and a group of scientists has planned to undertake a site visit to study the ground situation and make necessary recommendations to minimize the possible risks/damages to life and property.
Further, Minister Tennakoon instructed the NBRO and DMC officials to initiate urgent measures to mitigate damages.
