The Jana Aragala Alliance has alleged that the government will incur an additional cost of one million dollars due to a new tender awarded for printing foreign passports. Pubudu Jayagoda, a member of the alliance’s executive committee, made the statement during a press conference yesterday, urging the government to clarify its stance on the matter.

Meanwhile, large crowds have reappeared in front of the Immigration Department’s main office in Battaramulla, as people line up to obtain their passports. Many complain they are once again required to wait in token queues.

Sri Lanka has faced ongoing challenges in securing passports, with the Foreign Minister previously announcing that these issues were resolved under the new administration. However, the public contends that the government has yet to deliver effective solutions to the passport crisis.
