No warrant needed to arrest MP Bathiudeen, says Fort Magistrate

Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage today (13) informed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) that a court warrant is not required to arrest a person on charges under the Public Property Act.
The Cour stated the above was rejecting a request by the CID to issue a warrant for the arrest of three suspects, including MP Rishad Bathiudeen.
The Attorney General ordered the Acting Inspector General of Police today (13) to arrest of MP Bathiudeen on which the CID requested the Court to issue a warrant for his arrest.
>The suspects have been charged with criminally misusing public property and violating election laws by transporting displaced voters from Puttalam to Mannar by SLTB buses on the day of the last Presidential Election.
