I met the new Health Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana to seek his leadership and guidance in strengthening further the collaboration between our two countries in the health sector. We particularly discussed the potential of cooperation that the pharmaceutical sector holds for our two countries. Referring to the current level of import of medicines from Bangladesh, I briefed the Minister on how Sri Lanka can benefit more by getting more world-class pharmaceutical products from us at affordable prices. We discussed possible G-to-G arrangements in this regard. I also shared with him our government’s decision to send to Sri Lanka as a goodwill gesture about US$ 1 million worth of essential medicines as per their requirements,” he said.
