LIFE ABROAD – Part 35: IS BRITAIN PAVING A BATTLE GROUND FOR TIGER KITTENS!

Dr Tilak Fernando

The extremely brutal and barbaric behaviour during the recent Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s ChampionƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Trophy cricket final at Cardiff and Oval in London by some Sri Lankan Tamil thugs, calling themselvesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ as ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”Tamil Tiger activists in the UK, not only victimised several Sri Lankan law abiding innocent cricket enthusiasts but denuded the aloofness of the British authorities who failed to apprehend the criminals instantaneously caught in the act.

Double standards

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The million dollar question is why have not the British authorities been able to control and imprison parasites of a remaining terrorist organisation when they are seen openly hell bent on breaking the law of the country and causing mayhem in a peace loving society? Why do the British Police and Scotland Yard turn a Nelsonian eye to such atrocities continuously while Britain takes a major role in acting as god father when it comes to terrorism in other parts of the world!

tilak

The paradox is that the LTTE is a proscribed terrorist organisation in Britain, along with many other countries in the world, as such it does not stand to any rationale, except they are being absolutely hypocritical when it comes to such policies of preaching one and putting into action another!

Even during the height of LTTE slaughter of innocent men, woman, children and the Buddhist clergy in Sri Lanka, British authorities shamefully turned a Nelsonian eye and harboured and protected the LTTE ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”theoreticianƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ Anton Balasingham and his Australian wife Adela in London, giving lame excuses of their British nationality status and ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”not having committed any crime in the UKƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢!. How is it possible for one to escape from the jurisdiction of the Law in the country irrespective of the fact that one is a British citizen or even an alien from the outer space, who aids, abets and conspires with a ruthless proscribed terrorist organisation?

Despite such activities Balasingham managed to go scot-free by sitting comfortably in London, enjoy all the privileges of being a British Citizen, travelling to and fro from London to Wanni on a British passport and issuing various statements from what they called the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-LTTE Headquarters in LondonƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ explicitly in favour of, and supporting the LTTE terrorist organisation! His wife Adela, living with him in Brixton, managed to travel across to areas controlled by the LTTE in Sri Lanka and recruit female suicide bombers, including underage young girls against the will of the parents violating blatantly the basic human rights under the International and UN regulations.

Washing Dirty Linen

British are too complacent with their ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”ultra democratic stanceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢, so they would permit protesters of any breed from any part of the world to come over and turn the City of London into a convenient laundry to wash international dirty linen in public. It was therefore no surprise that the British authorities could not contain a prolonged protest by the LTTE terrorist sympathisers when the Parliament square in Central London was invaded once before.

When hundreds of LTTE protesters blocked the Parliament square in 2009 by sitting on the street, blocking traffic and camping out for weeks on end and preventing vehicles from entering the main entrance to the House of Commons, MPs had to use the House of LordsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ entrance to drive into the Parliamentary estate.

In doing so they destroyed the scenic beauty of the Parliament Square and degraded the whole atmosphere by setting up camps and turning the world famed city of London into a camp site and a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”toilet villageƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ which naturally made them lose their cause and sympathy of the ordinary rational minded British citizen.

Alas! The British Labour government in power at the time continued to sympathise with this bunch of fanatics.

Finally when the Sri Lanka government wiped out the terrorist menace from the Sri Lankan soil and achieved peace and tranquility enabling people to walk peacefully anywhere in the island there should be no basis whatsoever for any Tamil to protest .

Even those who migrated to the West as ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”economic refugeesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ perhaps have no idea how their old ramshackle villages are being transformed into modern and new cities now with the entire skyline changing with contemporary architectural designs and up to date road networks.

Sri Lankan BarristerƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s observation

ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-In Cardiff, young terrorist supporters formed splinter groups wearing red tiger bandanas to cover their faces and hung around in groups in car parks ready to go into battle. Shiran de Almeida was punched in the back of the head inside the ground in front of several police officers which made him bleed from a cut to his ear whilst he was talking to the Police Commissioner. It was a hit and run act of grievous bodily harm and the Police claimed not been able to identify the perpetrator because he blended in with the crowdƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.

ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-This was a serious racially aggravated assault with Police witnesses which comes under Section 18 Public Order Act Offence, but nothing has been done about it by the PoliceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.

Traumatised T. Perera had to say thus:

ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-An Eelam supporter wiped my face with Chilli Powder and attacked a woman with children, whilst peacefully walking on the streets of Cardiff. I wore my Sri Lankan t-shirt and had the Sri Lankan flag tied around my neck. The local Police asked me to remove them both! Well! If I were to do that then I would have been walking in my undergarments! I refused to remove anything. I am Sri Lankan and I went to support my nationƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.

This distinctly exposes the double stands of Police action on this occasion where a peacefully walking man being ordered by the very Police to remove his national flag tied round his neck whereas hundreds of Tamil ruffians were allowed to wear bandanas with tiger emblems and walk freely and engage in criminal activities! DonƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t such actions of the British Police behaviour naturally make one puke!

Bernard Wijesinghe has come out with a different suggestion to Colombo Authorities to make ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-a formal demand to No.10 Downing street making a strong case underlining the fact that the UK is accountable for hosting terrorists that are an existential threat to Sri Lanka and failure to deal with such mobsters intending to divide Sri Lanka as it would lead to a breach in relationsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.

ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”Sunil MahattayaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ had summed it up concisely viz: ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”Those hoodlum were terrorists in the guise of refugee and asylum seekers and unwanted scum who run all over the world painting false portrayals of Sri Lanka seeking refuge bemoaning cooked up Sinhala attrocities when all the while they were the culprits responsible for brutalities against a sovereign nation and her ethnic majorityƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.

It is believed that some of these young Tamil thugs, whose roots are in the West and who have never set eyes on Sri Lanka, are constantly being brainwashed by their selfish senior elements whose permanent residence status hangs on the balance with their refugee applications still pending while Sri Lanka extends an open invitation to all Sri Lankans who left the country to return back to a peaceful island.

Maybe some of the youngsters who behaved in Cardiff and at the Oval in such a violent manner did not have a clue about Sri Lanka or its historical facts except distorted information which drove them to behave like electronically manipulated robots of devious minds who were behind the scenes who act for selfish reasons.

Time is ripe not to be consoled by the fact that terrorism is over and done away with, and the land is free, calm and cozy! The government needs to take seriously type of international outbursts as mentioned above, especially from the up and coming lineage of brainwashed younger generation by former LTTE activists who have managed to cross over to the UK, sought refugee status, settled down and living comfortable lives and making conditions worse for those Tamil folk who are being looked after by the government in the North and the East.

The perpetrators of this kind of heinous crimes must be found and dealt with, and immigration control has a bounden duty to detect such elements if ever they try to enter Sri Lanka in the future. There are abundant of photographs on the internet for Sri Lankan authorities to work on it.

  1. Cyril D Says:

Totally agree with you. Look what happened in Cardiff.

    1) Here is Logeshwaran Manimaran, the Cardiff pitch invader on June 20:

Note the tattoo on his left forearm.

    2) On July 3, the Colombo Chief magistrate Gihan Piliapitiya, issued an open warrant to arrest Logeshwaran Manimaran alias Mohamed Raji, for allegedly withdrawing cash from 10ATMs in Sri Lanka using fake credit cards.

    3) On Monday July 8, INTERPOL issued a Red notice for his arrest. It said “ IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION PLEASE CONTACT your national or local police.

    4) On Wednesday July10, Logeshwaran Manimaran appears before Judge Brown as “ Manimaran Sadasaramoorth, 42, of Mitcham Surrey.

The Prosecutor David Cooke, told the court Sadasaramoorthy gave a false name and date of birth on his arrest and was later found to have “previous convictions for dishonesty”, Mr Cooke said, the last of which was in 2006.

The judge gave him seven days to pay a £250 fine, £85 court costs and a £25 victim surcharge “in it’s entirety”.

    5) There’s no Manimaran Sadasaramoorth, on the UK electoral role.

I hope the Sri Lankan High Commission is working behind the scene on this. If not I hope there’s a very good reason for their silence, especially after Dr Nonis’s complaint to the police soon after the protest.
