SRI LANKAN BUDDHIST PILGRIM RUN OVER BY TRAIN NEAR VARANASI

A Sri Lankan Budddhist pilgrim visiting holy places in North India was accidentally run over by a train, Chaundali police near Varanasi said.
The victim named H.M.S.Anula Kumarihamy (61) on grand-cord railway line met the tragic death near Bhagawanpur talab under Chandauli police area last Saturday, the sources said.
According to reports she belonged to a group of 100 pilgrims who had visited Varanasi October 1. After visiting Saranath and areas close by the group was on their way to Bodh Gaya. They had a break at a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”dhabaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢near Bhagawanpur talab.Asking her group members to wait for her she went to the nearby shrubs for a call of nature.
It is presumed that she was hit by a train while returning and had died on the spot. When she did not return for some time the group searched for her and found the dead body lying by the side of the railway track.
The police who arrived later arranged for the post-mortem and handed over the body for cremation,said Insepector R.P.Singh of the Chandauli Police.
