THERE WILL BE MANY INDIANS IN SRI LANKA SANS COW BOYS ???

Dr Sarath Obeysekera
ETCA is making news today and many professional organizations including GMOA is worried about the influx of Indian Labour to take over jobs of our cow boys
Does anyone know that one of the biggest foreign exchange earner Colombo Dockyard is employing over 400 ship building workers to generate much needed foreign income ??
When our Sri Lankan welder needs to helpers to carry his gear to the workplace these skinny Indians do it own their own
When I was CEO of Dockyard ,we imported 200 high quality welders and built the iconic Shell Gas Sphere in Muthurajawela They were paid only 200 $ per month
We could not find diligent Sri Lankan Welders to do the job !!
When our own workers do not want to work hard and demanding high salaries ,these workers eat chappati and dhal and work for just 300 $ per month
Altair Tower built by Indians is full of Indians and managed by Indians and they are doing well
There are many Industries such as steel melting mills where Indians work in Sri Lanka
GMOA is worried about Indian doctors coming to Sri Lanka fear of what ? If they work well and pass their higher qualification exams Indian can do lower medical jobs and our doctors can manage
Yesterday I was watching a program where they were discussing about ECTA and the GMOA representative could not even express their opinion properly in English!
His arguments were absolutely baseless
We need competition to develop
Let Indians come to Sri Lanka and work hard so that our professionals learn how to work efficiently and diligently to show that we are better
As an Industrialist with much exposure abroad ,I am quite adamant that we should open up and let Indians come so that our lazy nation learn how to work

This is utter nonsense!
Endians are coming not only to do SLAVE JOBS but also to take away IT and other professional jobs.
SL already has a FOREIGN TRADE PAYMENT problem. If we bring Endians, they will send money to their poor families in Endia and our foreign currency will further disappear.
How does Singapore, HK, etc. manage dockyard operations? By bringing more Endians? NO. Mechanization.
Bringing more Endians to SL will end up in riots and bloodshed as locals will lose livelihood to INVADERS and will certainly fight back.
Endians in SL will also attract various Pakistani, Chinese and other groups desperate to attack Endians. SL is a softer target to attack Endians than BOMBAY, etc. SL is inviting a whole lot more trouble with the second Endian invasion in 30 years. Endians will also do riots against MUSLIMS and others as they did in 2001, etc.

You said it man,
“cow boys”vs Sacred cow boys.
You were a CEO of the Dock Yards.
I go back to the days when Colombo Pert was under the British and the UNP of DSS and Sir John.
The Port of Colombo in those days had Trade as well as Engineering Apprentices. They were not sacred Indians as you prefer.
How many local young cow boys (calfs) have you trained while you were the CEO of the Dock Yards?

“As an Industrialist with much exposure abroad “.
Tell me what you did Dr with your Seagul and Aska.
Colombo Dockyard is run by Japanese and the local guys who work in the management are just interpreters to Japanese like you.
LinkedIn as you know got lot of rubbish.
Our welders in the Middle East and in the West earn much more. Bringing Indian parasites will not be the solution in the long run.

You are sopt on Lorenzo ‘this is utter nonsense’
Wonder if Dr.Obeysekara ever heard the word exploitation, that is what it’s called.
It is true that you can not get good quality diligent welders in Sri Lanka for US$300 because they get US$750 atleast in the ME.
It is also true that we need competion to grow but the Indians are not going to compete but invade.
The GMOA’s representatives english is not what is at stake here but the invasion of cheap indian labour.
If we need Indian labour it must be on our terms and conditions and certainly not on agreements rammed down our throat by Indians.
This stupid government of puppet sira and idiot ponil are incapable of handiling pressure from New Delhi and will soon succumb to the detriment of the country and that is what the Ambulence project signals.
I hope the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce to come forward to call the bluff of Ranil Wickremasinghe that there is on one in Sri Lanka to do this project.

Dr. Sarath,
This is a disgrace to SL. I was a trainee during the time Oruwela steel mill was being built with the help of Russians. There was a competition between Russian welders and our welders. Our men won. These people did the Pugoda textile mill steel structures where I was in charge from beginning to the end. They did a splendid job beating the deadlines. Only thing you need to give incentives which amounted to a satisfactory wage. If you were the head during the last government, I don’t blame you as our workers were fabricating cutout than building ships.

There is some truth in the argument but completely one sided.
If we don’t have high quality welders it is our government’s fault. We should invest in training. Bringing cheap Indians is not the solutions.
Why ? because there is social side to it, not just economics. Do we have Sinhalese living in India ? No.
How about Tamils and Muslims ? Plenty. If the racial balance is changed what will happen ?
When Singapore built Pasir Panjang Container Terminal and Kepple Distripark from whom they seek Engineering advice ? From Indians ? From Chinese ? From Indonesians ? No. From Sri Lankans.
As Lorenzo said they automated the whole process and were not scared to do “world’s first “.
But for the construction Industry they import Indians and Bangladeshis. They have to leave in 2 years and if they marry a Singaporean, Singaporean will have to leave with the Indian.
You eliminate corruption and build the proper procedure for every thing before eventhinking about filthy Indians.

“Let Indians come to Sri Lanka and work hard so that our professionals learn how to work efficiently and diligently to show that we are better”
Indians need not come to SL for us to work better and harder. This is a negative mentality. It is in the Colombo port that men like Dr. ANS Kulasinghe trained our engineers, welders etc to be first class workers and go and work in other countries without any inferiority complex. One of my batch mates worked in Singapore port before moving to Australia. I am sad that we do not have such people to man important institutions and train our young engineers today. Our leaders including the PM do not rate our people very high. He should know that in the field of IT our people have done better than even Indians. Virtusa is one such organisation which is having branches even in India. How about the the world leading stock market control system built by Millenium that powers the London stock exchange. There was a news item that they are to merge with Germany’s stock exchange, perhaps taking it over.
Perhaps this is a clever move to kill SL’s IT industry.

Endia has a VERY HIGH rate of RAPE. IF Endian men come to SL to work leaving their women in Endia what will happen? SL women will get raped by Endians in hundreds of thousands. Those who support Endians coming to SL better ready their daughters, mothers, sisters and wives and even themselves to welcome Endians with garlands.

It gets worse. According to a very credible Endian newspaper, and the EU, Endia is the second biggest COMPONENT SUPPLIER to ISIS!! Imagine what they will do with SL. Endia will CHANNEL all terrorist funding, terrorist weapons, etc. through SL and take only profits!!
“Seven Indian companies figure in a list of 51 commercial entities from 20 countries that, according to an EU-mandated study, are involved in the supply chain of over 700 components used by the Islamic State to construct improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
While four of the seven Indian firms denied having exported explosives or accessories to either Lebanon or Turkey, two confirmed that smaller suppliers of components such as fuses or detonating cords do not export these items directly, but through trading intermediaries or merchant exporters, and are mostly unaware of the final destination of the products.
The study, conducted by Conflict Armament Research (CAR), reported that Turkey topped the list of countries with a total of 13 firms involved in the IS supply chain, followed by India with seven companies. The Indian firms were mostly found to be manufacturing detonators, detonating cords and safety fuses.

Muslims are discriminated in India. They will rush in here as this is the heaven for them.

Sarath
I would like to reiterate what Dham says.
There are large number of Indian migrant IT professionals, technicians and engineers working in England, Middle East, Japan, and Singapore without any inter-government involvement. Why should we sign an agreement to get these people?
