Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa released a communique titled the Stance of the UNP Presidential Candidate on the Unitary State
The communique states that the UNP Candidate has proposed in his manifesto to introduce a concept of undivided and an unseparated state.
It also proposes maximum power devolution
The Opposition Leader points out in his communique that these proposals are very similar to that of the proposals to be included in the new constitution
They were tabled by the Prime Minister in parliament last January
Therefore, the Opposition Leader requests the Chief Prelates of the three Sects to demand an assurance from the UNP presidential candidate, that he opposes all such proposals and he abides by protecting the unitary status of the country.
