CBK- True Nature of Arrogance, Self-Importance and Vindictiveness

The ever forgiving, selfless, honest Chandrika Kumaratunga is now brimming with Metta, Karuna,Muditha and Upekha that she supposedly learnt at the Daham Pasala at Vajiraramaya, Bambalapitiya. The Sunday Leader of 3rd September 2006 gives a good account of who Chandrika Kumaratunga really is in their articles " CBK Takes on Rajapakse Brothers and Co. " and "The Lady Vanishes" which reveals not only her present attitude but also how she would have ruled as Executive President when she manipulated all her Cabinet Ministers and other parliamentarians both in the Government and the Opposition.

Being out of power and prestige and out of " the center of attraction" is indeed extremely difficult for CBK to accept. Suddenly, she wakes upto the thought that she must draw some attention and the only way to do it, is to sling mud or give a sob story about how unfairly she is treated by the present Government under President Rajapakse. The fear is that if she does not do this, it will be proven that he is a much better Leader both of the SLFP and the country than she would ever want to acknowledge!

Where in the world would the Executive President of a country, connive with a terrorist leader who for nearly 30 years has brought on untold miseries on the Tamil community and the country at large with his mythical agenda of claiming a homeland at great cost to the country? Only in Sri Lanka and only with Chandrika Kumaratunga and Ranil Wickramasinghe, as Prime Minister. Both were eyeing the Nobel Peace Prize. Fortunately, both failed or else the Peace Prize would have lost the dignity and the respect people the world over have for that prestigious award! How could she, if she had any principles have helped Prabhakaran to smuggle his wife and children abroad? This act alone shows that she was in close contact with him, knew his whereabouts and purposely avoided arresting him as the Indian Government had requested for the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi. To use the words that she states in her letter to Secretary of Defense " Is my only sin that I have done so much to render our country a better place during my presidency? " God forbid! Why all this hypocrisy or, is it just memory block?
Citizens of this country are fully aware of what she brought on this country during 11 years of her rule- there is no need to remind us of her vindictiveness and arrogance with " toppings" of downright lies.

In the article "CBK Takes on Rajapakse Bros and Co." she tries to accuse the Defense Secretary of intentionally reducing her security contingent. 20 commandos to protect a national traitor, is quite commendable given the fact that it is a drain on State Coffers to do. She is in no danger especially because she has done Prabhakaran a favour that no other politician did for him and more so, because she is abroad for the last 7 months! She states in that letter how well she treated President Rajapakse. We all know that even when he requested additional security during the Presidential Elections of 2005, she purposely did not give it. What was more astonishing was the fact that she as the Leader of SLFP together with her brother, willfully sabotaged campaigning for their own party candidate! This is the traitorous leadership she and her brother gave the SLFP- can anyone in his right mind say that this is loyalty to the party?

True to her vindictive nature, the article "The Lady Vanishes" states that even though she was offered an invitation and a vehicle specially sent by The Sri Lankan High Commissioner to pick her for the reception given by President Rajapakse, she decided to snub Sri Lanka by not accepting the overtures but stated " Why should I meet that man after the way he has treated me and my family?" President Rajapakse has treated the Bandaranaike family with utmost respect and stood by the late Sirimavo Bandaranaike during the most trying times when her own two children Chandrika and Anura abandoned her and stood on other platforms- what more loyalty than that?

SLFP politicians and parliamentarians must know that they are doing a great dis-service to the country and the party by getting involved with Chandrika Kumaratunga's dirty politics. On her own and due to her own seeking, she is no longer welcome in this country. We expect all SLFP politicians to work and prove that you are true sons and daughters of Sri Lanka-that you hold the country before petty politics. That you really and truly honour the late Mr.S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike and Mrs. Sirimavo Bandaranaike by being loyal to the party and the current Leader of the SLFP. Please show us through actions that you truly deserve our respect.

Right now, the country needs you to work for the country and save it from terrorists-that is loyalty to Sri Lanka- your Mother Land and secondly to the SLFP-your party.
