Conditional or unconditional talks with the terrorists.By Charles PereraArmy should continue defensive action, such that by end of October there will be no terrorists to talk anything with. It is reported that the tiger terrorists are ready for unconditional talks with the government, but the terrorists have warned that they will pull out if the government persists with its military campaign. That seems to be a condition, therefore it is not true that the terrorist tigers have agreed to unconditional talks. There is now an on going All Party Committee deliberations, for devolution of power to give the Tamil people of the North East their legitimate grievances. In that situation what we wonder are the talks going to be with the terrorists. We cannot give some thing for the Tamil people in the North and East, and another thing for the terrorists. Unless of course we are going to talk with the terrorists about cessation of armed aggression and their willingness to lay down arms, and ask them whether they agree to be satisfied with the devolution of political power the government will agree to give according to the recommendation of the All Party Committee. Other than that, there seems to be no other talk possible with the
terrorists. Now that at least some of the Tamil people in the North
and East , seems to be coming out of their hiding places to tip off
the army on arms caches and LTTE attacks, it means the war against terrorism
has put hope into the minds of the Tamil people who had been kept under
the iron boots of the terrorists for far too long. Therefore, what ever
the uninformed International Community says about the war against the
terrorists, the regular bombardments by the Sri Lanka air force and
Therefore the Government should continue its defensive action and takeover
Elephant Pass and bomb the hideout of the terrorist leaders in Kilinochchi,
so that by the end of October there will be no terrorists left to talk
any thing with. It is a pity it is only the poor misguided Tamil children
and youth who are dying at the moment, therefore the government forces
should now go after bigger fish. |
