TREACHEROUS UNP BLAMES THE GOVERNMENT FOR RESORTING TO MILITARY ACTION.A.A.M.NIZAM MATARA.The treacherous UNP showing no sympathy to the innocent civilians of the Trincomalee District suffering under the atrocities of their tiger terrorist cousins naively blames the government for resorting to military actions and for abandoning what it calls the coherent and self-contained peace process inherited from the previous Administration. The shameless tongue twister G.L.Peiris, who unsuccessfully attempted to be a jumping jumbo, surfacing after being buried for some time in political wilderness as a discard consequent to UNPs leadership struggle, has criticised the government for failing to explore a political solution within the framework of December 2002 Oslo communiqué, failing to allow Norway to function as facilitator, for diluting the role of the so-called Co-Chairs, and for abandoning the elements incorporated in the Tokyo Declaration of June 2003. It is utterly hilarious that this imbecile political tyro who shamelessly conferred an unwarranted doctorate to piggish-faced Anton Balasngham, one of the most detested Sri Lankan terrorist at Thailand Sattahip talks, dwelling in a fantasy land in the belief that the so- called peace process of the previous government is coherent. Was he in a deep slumber or was he on state of sensuous paralysis when the Sri Lankan masses twice rejected all dealings connected with the so- called peace-process which was nothing other than a façade designed by Norway for sovereign Sri Lanka to bow down to the demands of a ruthless terrorist outfit. As regards the so-called Oslo Communique of December 2002, it is in fact a bit strange to find Mr. Peiris, digressing from UNPs earlier phraseology of Oslo Agreement rightly referring to it as Oslo Communique. Although UNP continuously kept referring to this Communique as an agreement they reached with the terrorist outfit to what they call to solve Sri Lankas ethnic problem under a federal form of government , and cited it as the basis even in their Presidential Election campaign, the terrorist outfit, including Balasingham himself, had rejected it umpteen times. Clarifying the status of this document, the 2nd Secrretary of the Norwegian Embassy Mr. Tom Knappskog had gone on record stating that it was a statement issued by the Norwegian Government in their capacity as the facilitator to the peace process and the declaration does not explicitly state the LTTE would give up all claims to an independent state. Another absurd charge being levelled against the government
is failure to adopt elements incorporated in the Tokyo Declaration of
June 2003. Peiris emphasizes that it is important to have a concrete
proposal for power sharing and blames the government for lacking such
a proposal. His next criticism has been tasked at the Advisory Committee
appointed by the President in pursuance of the decision taken at the
sixth All- Party Conference held on June 2. He says that even
though the officials appointed have undoubted competence and stature,
they can be expected to address their daunting task successfully only
if they are provided at least with guidelines indicative of the parameters
within which devolution is acceptable to the Government as a matter
of It would indeed be waste of time and space to comment
on matters relating to the defunct CFA outlined in the statement issued
by Mr. |
